Strategically, she must secure a strong portion of the white male vote, the largest voting block in politics, if she aims to succeed. Historically, Kamala has not received support from this group, as evidenced by her inability to attract their votes in her previous campaign. Despite efforts to address this, I believe it’s too little, too late. The Democratic Party responds more to wealthy donors and corporate interests than to the preferences of their voter base, as we recently witnessed.

That's a lie Biden loyalists pushed.

The truth is a solid majority of Democratic voters wanted Biden to step down.

It should be Pete Buttigieg. He's friends with the Silicon Valley's racist/ rich class.
But he's gay. It's hard enough to get these motherfuckers to vote for a black woman. A black woman and a gay man would be fucking political suicide. If she goes that route I doubt they get more than 59 million votes, and that's a stretch considering Joe Biden got 81 million last time

Pete Buttigieg is a smart guy, but ain't nobody checking for a gay guy that's one step from the White House. A lot of people would vote against that on GP

Oh, I agree, BUT Biden only did so when he lost support from his political financiers.
Had he continued receiving financial support despite growing pressure from his voters to step down, HE WOULD NOT HAVE DONE SO.

Shapiro could be a good choice for carrying PA. Kamala is gonna win Philadelphia, Allegheny (PGH), Dauphin (Harrisburg), and Centre (State College/Penn State) Counties by just being a Democrat.

Biden and Shapiro won Berks (Reading), Lehigh (Allentown), Monroe (East Stroudsburg), Lackawanna (Scranton), Northampton (Bethlehem), & Erie Counties. Shapiro also won Cumberland County (Carlisle) while Biden didn't. This could win her PA which she ABSOLUTELY has to have.

For reference, Hillary didn't win Northampton, Berks, or Erie.

I fully expect it to be a white boy. Just saying, y'all know what time it is.
Truthfully in order to give Kamala a fighting chance in November her running mate needs to be a white, heterosexual male IMO.
I my opinion, for her to really have a chance at winning, she has to choose a white man from the South.

Perception is going to be everything. Out of the list above, I believe she has to go with Gov. Cooper from North Carolina.

I voted Klobuchar before I realized 2 women will NOT win.

She's got to get a white male from middle amerikkka. Those swing states will tell the tale.

Forget Buttigieg although he would make an excellent veep.
She needs penn if she has any chance to win

I’d be fine with Kelly or some darkhorse pitbull we all didn’t see and the gop won’t have time or resources to research this person.

Remember this person will be 1 step away from having the Nuke codes, so our choice has to not only be smart but also aggressive with foreign policy.

I also agree a double woman ticket will be a failure UNLESS it’s a Obama and it’s in reverse. That will most definitely bring out more than enough voters and new voters to tip the scales. Its would basically be Barack’s 4th term with a bonus 5th term if we win re-election. OR we play dirty again and force Kamala out after 2 years and give Michelle 10 years in office.

The Dems have to be smart and precise about this VP pick, it’s the most important one in their existence. Senator Vance wants a civil war to win this presidential election so that means the Dems must counter and put somebody in place who has all his characteristics and none of his weaknesses.

He is also running on an immigration is good for America stance and that’s huge and I didn’t see that coming until his spouse was revealed.

This is a good thread to have discourse and proper discussions. I voted for JB due to all his Ties and he’s Jewish. A sacrifice to make sure Trump doesn’t get a 2nd term.

Voter turnout in Pennsylvania has fallen off a cliff because the Democratic Party keeps nominating awful people. I just voted for Cherelle Parker who ran on wanting to expand the police force.

If I was Kamala, I would snatch Bob Casey out of the Senate and leave Shapiro to pick a black senator because Fetterman will not be reelected.

I’d like to see Roy on the ticket. He did great for our state. He’s good with diplomacy. I don’t think he’s popular enough nationally, but he was a great governor for NC.
His term is up this year, so it’s likely a GOP will get in the governor’s set.

In 2020, NC elected republican senators and reelected Cooper. NC is backwards like that.

Nah, keep Roy here in North Carolina
Can he run again for a 3rd term? Maybe in 2028? :dunno:

Casey definitely has a better reputation in the state. Good choice. And good point about Fetterman. Homie definitely grand opening/grand closing'd himself

He crashed out because he knows he’s going to need a mountain of cash for his reelection. But Maryland has shown the party that you don’t need a mountain full of cash to get the nomination because all you need is the right candidate. The party counts on the apathy. I wasn’t betrayed by Fetterman because I just saw the lady from Arizona reverse and reveal her true self. Money will do that. Money simultaneously masks and reveals character.

America hates black people, not gays. The proof is in the money. Americans can talk all the shit they want but gays still get paid. However, you're right that a non-white woman and a gay man may be too much for one ticket.

You're right. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it has to be a straight, white male, to pull off a sure victory in November

There is enough bias in there to take away from the person in office. You don't need to add one iota to that. People already have a reason to discriminate. Adding a gay person would be a negative percentage no matter how you look at it.

So if 2 million people weren't going to vote because it's a black woman. If two more million people weren't going to vote because it's a woman, then You're looking at at least 500,000 if not a million more. So that's 4.5 million to 5 million votes lost off rip.

Not to say these people would vote Trump, but staying home is a vote for Trump

Kamala Harris narrows down VP shortlist as two candidates emerge as frontrunners

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly have emerged as frontrunners for presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’ choice of vice president.

Both men are from key battleground states in the 2024 presidential race and have a history of defeating candidates endorsed by Donald Trump at the ballot box.

A source close to the campaign – newly rebranded as Harris For President – told ABC News that the vetting of potential running mates had begun. Other candidates being considered as well as Shapiro and Kelly are Roy Cooper of North Carolina and Andy Beshear of Kentucky.

However, the process is unlikely to be finalized by August 7, when the virtual roll call is scheduled to come to an end, a source familiar with the process told the outlet.

Some may see Shapiro as a good candidate for the ticket, as a fellow state attorney general. The 51-year-old is highly popular as the governor of Pennsylvania and enjoys the support of plenty of Republicans as well as Democrats.

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro, 51, is a fellow state attorney general.

In 2022, he beat the ultra-MAGA Doug Mastriano, whom Trump had endorsed. He has received high marks for his handling of multiple crises, including the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which borders Pennsylvania, and, more recently, the attempted assassination of Trump at a rally in the town of Butler.

As the state attorney general, Shapiro focused heavily on combating crime in Pennsylvania, which has at times rankled progressives in the way Harris’ record as a prosecutor has. In addition, when Trump sued Pennsylvania to challenge the 2020 election results, Shapiro beat him back in lawsuits.

US Senator Kelly is a 60-year-old former astronaut and Navy combat pilot. He won his seat in 2022, roundly defeating Republican challenger Blake Masters – another Trump-backed ultra-MAGA, who, like JD Vance, is a disciple of venture capitalist Peter Thiel.

Kelly stepped into politics after his wife, former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, was shot in the head and was forced to retire in 2011. Since then, he’s become an outspoken advocate for ending gun violence – an issue that will almost certainly be key on Harris’ agenda.

The Senator is also a prolific fundraiser who would have little trouble bringing cash to the ticket with Harris. Picking Kelly may also signal that Democrats are serious about keeping the West in mind.

A border-state Democrat, Kelly could push back on criticisms from Republicans that Trump would be better at handling immigration.

As a veteran, he has taken up late Senator John McCain’s mantle as an ardent defender of Ukraine, which would contrast with Vance’s opposition to supporting the country against Putin’s aggression. However, his record in Arizona might lead Democrats to want to keep him in the Senate.

The two men have major pros about what they could bring to the table for Harris. However, a source told ABC that while "the horse has left the barn," concerning the selection of her running mate, the list of names is currently “not exhaustive.”

I'm thinking she goes with Kelly. Even with Shapiro out, she should still be able to win PA.
