Shapiro could be a good choice for carrying PA. Kamala is gonna win Philadelphia, Allegheny (PGH), Dauphin (Harrisburg), and Centre (State College/Penn State) Counties by just being a Democrat.

Biden and Shapiro won Berks (Reading), Lehigh (Allentown), Monroe (East Stroudsburg), Lackawanna (Scranton), Northampton (Bethlehem), & Erie Counties. Shapiro also won Cumberland County (Carlisle) while Biden didn't. This could win her PA which she ABSOLUTELY has to have.

For reference, Hillary didn't win Northampton, Berks, or Erie.

Good tweets. Shapiro's hard stance inline with Israel might end up being a net negative for him as VP
Gotta watch out for Shapiro. He signed off on some BS law that A prosecutor outside of Philly can have jurisdiction over any crime that happens within like 500 feet of a septa stop. That's basically the whole city...smh...basically rendering Larry krasner useless

Kamala Harris narrows down VP shortlist as two candidates emerge as frontrunners

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly have emerged as frontrunners for presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’ choice of vice president.

Both men are from key battleground states in the 2024 presidential race and have a history of defeating candidates endorsed by Donald Trump at the ballot box.

A source close to the campaign – newly rebranded as Harris For President – told ABC News that the vetting of potential running mates had begun. Other candidates being considered as well as Shapiro and Kelly are Roy Cooper of North Carolina and Andy Beshear of Kentucky.

However, the process is unlikely to be finalized by August 7, when the virtual roll call is scheduled to come to an end, a source familiar with the process told the outlet.

Some may see Shapiro as a good candidate for the ticket, as a fellow state attorney general. The 51-year-old is highly popular as the governor of Pennsylvania and enjoys the support of plenty of Republicans as well as Democrats.

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro, 51, is a fellow state attorney general.

In 2022, he beat the ultra-MAGA Doug Mastriano, whom Trump had endorsed. He has received high marks for his handling of multiple crises, including the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which borders Pennsylvania, and, more recently, the attempted assassination of Trump at a rally in the town of Butler.

As the state attorney general, Shapiro focused heavily on combating crime in Pennsylvania, which has at times rankled progressives in the way Harris’ record as a prosecutor has. In addition, when Trump sued Pennsylvania to challenge the 2020 election results, Shapiro beat him back in lawsuits.

US Senator Kelly is a 60-year-old former astronaut and Navy combat pilot. He won his seat in 2022, roundly defeating Republican challenger Blake Masters – another Trump-backed ultra-MAGA, who, like JD Vance, is a disciple of venture capitalist Peter Thiel.

Kelly stepped into politics after his wife, former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, was shot in the head and was forced to retire in 2011. Since then, he’s become an outspoken advocate for ending gun violence – an issue that will almost certainly be key on Harris’ agenda.

The Senator is also a prolific fundraiser who would have little trouble bringing cash to the ticket with Harris. Picking Kelly may also signal that Democrats are serious about keeping the West in mind.

A border-state Democrat, Kelly could push back on criticisms from Republicans that Trump would be better at handling immigration.

As a veteran, he has taken up late Senator John McCain’s mantle as an ardent defender of Ukraine, which would contrast with Vance’s opposition to supporting the country against Putin’s aggression. However, his record in Arizona might lead Democrats to want to keep him in the Senate.

The two men have major pros about what they could bring to the table for Harris. However, a source told ABC that while "the horse has left the barn," concerning the selection of her running mate, the list of names is currently “not exhaustive.”

I can’t see it being Shapiro with this mark against him:

That's what I don't want! Nobody since Reagan has served two terms and handed the presidency over to their VP but I would hate to see the party move right after Harris. That's my main reason for wanting to learn about these people.

Trump Declares Outrageous Reason He Won't Pronounce 'Kamala' Correctly

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is doubling down on why he keeps mispronouncing the first name of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump repeatedly botched Harris’ name on Friday while speaking at the Believers Summit, an event held by conservative Christian group Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“Some people think I mispronounce it on purpose, but actually I’ve heard it said about seven different ways,” he said. “There are a lot of ways.”

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has made it very clear how she pronounces her own name. She released a PSA during her 2016 Senate run demonstrating how to pronounce it. She’s previously suggested people remember it by thinking, “comma-la, like the punctuation mark.”

Her pronunciation varies from the traditional pronunciation of the Indian name, which is closer to “com’la.”

However, neither of those versions are what Trump has landed on. He pronounced the name “Ka-MA-luh,” with a strong emphasis on the second syllable.

He claims that he was once told either “KA-ma-luh” or “Ka-MA-luh” were OK, but ultimately, he told the crowd, he just doesn’t care about getting it right.

“I said, ‘don’t worry about it,’” he recalled. “It doesn’t matter what I say. I couldn’t care less if I mispronounce it or not. I couldn’t care less.”

Sociolinguistics professor Nicole Holliday told HuffPost this week that at this point, many Republicans who pronounce Harris’ name incorrectly are doing so “on purpose,” and it can even be a way for them signal their political views.

“If you’re a Republican, or let’s say an independent but leaning Republican, and you say, ‘Kuh-MA-luh,’ then everybody knows … either you’re not really for her, or you’re not consuming the media where people bother to say her name, right?” she said.

But “Kamala” wasn’t the only word Trump didn’t quite nail on Friday. At one point, he also said “Harris” in a way that sounded like “Harrah.” At another moment, he expressed the need for Republicans to defeat her “in a land ‘slade.’”

What do you mean?
A loser that only matters to losers. What’s the name of the wrestler turned politician that came out of that state? Exactly! Mothafuckas passed laws to make folks brush their teeth and wash their ass and the voters went crazy thinking the entire nation needed laws for basic shit.

If it wasn’t for the black folks that came directly from Africa, where would Minnesota be? It would be Iowa or Nebraska. A shit hole state.

I’d like to see Roy on the ticket. He did great for our state. He’s good with diplomacy. I don’t think he’s popular enough nationally, but he was a great governor for NC.

He was in my top 3 of those being discussed, along with Walz and Beshear.

Wonder if they ruled him out or if he ruled himself out.

We got the head case Mark Robinson that would temporarily replace Roy if he gets on the ticket as VP. Plus, Robinson is running for governor so I think Roy might be concentrating on helping the new Dem running. Just my guess.
