Kanye has been an absolute blight to Black folks over the last few years. He has become the country's most prominent black white supremacist.

America is a powder keg right now. Racially motivated hate crimes are at a high. Mass shootings are at a high, many racially-motivated. The Republican Party is completely corrupted. They have all but become one with the far right. Q-Anon individuals are among the most celebrated Republicans, one of whom is married to a conservative Justice in a heavily right-leaning Supreme Court. Modern day Republican leadership is showing a penchant for political corruption, disregard for the Constitution, disregard for the electoral system disregard for the law that is unprecedented in the history of the country.

Especially in this environment, Kanye's anti-Black rhetoric, championing of white skin and his public embrace of a fictional white male victimology is not only offensive, but given his vast worldwide influence, it's dangerous. It waters and cultivates a hazardous, violent soil. He needed to be reined in, humbled and stopped, period. Black folks should have en masse abandoned him 3 years ago at least, but I recognize that a collective Black consciousness and collective Black pride and unity of purpose is not at a level with us for that to have been a universal reality 3 years ago or even today.

So, there is for me some satisfaction in seeing his chickens coming home to roost- however it has to come about. If in the end, the straw that broke that camel's back is his anti-semitic sentiments, then so be it. It's a long time coming. His influence joined with his internalized racism enjoined with his obvious mental health issues and delusion? He needed to be stopped.

Yet it is troubling that the thing that made so many of the biggest companies pull away from him was his having offended the Jews, when he's said so many more horrible things against Black people.
