Kellen Winslow Jr. is charged with a new count of rape in San Diego in addition to the two counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape and one count of forcible sodomy he was already facing.
The 34-year-old former NFL tight end was arraigned for the new charge Thursday afternoon in a Vista, California courtroom, accused of forcibly raping an unconscious 17-year-old girl in 2003 when he was 19 years old, USA Today reports.
Winslow Jr. facing three rape charges spanning 15 years
Winslow was already facing trial for the alleged rape of two women ages 54 and 58 in the San Diego suburb of Encinitas between March and June of this year. Policearrested Winslow twice in June, with the second arrest on the rape charges.
Winslow also faces a pair of misdemeanor trespassing charges for entering the homes of women he intended to rape, the prosecution alleges. Winslow’s first arrest occurred after he allegedly entered a woman’s home in an Encinitas trailer park, prompting a neighbor to call the police.
The 58-year-old accuser, a homeless woman, testified in court Thursday morning that Winslow picked her up in his car and offered to take her for coffee when he allegedly took her to a secluded area, raped her and threatened to kill her, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
“I was just scared to death,” she said.

No statute of limitations for 2003 rape case
San Diego County deputy district attorney Dan Owens cited a California law eliminating a statute of limitations in rape cases involving minors to bring the additional charge.
“California law allows for certain specified sexual offenses to be charged regardless of the time of their commission under certain circumstances,” Owens said. “Those circumstances are met in this case.
“When there is a rape that occurs and the victim is under the age of 18 years old, there is no statutory time to when that can be charged. That’s exactly what we have here.”
Winslow Jr. expected to post bail
Judge Harry M. Elias set Winslow’s bail at $2 million. His attorneys said that he will post bail and expect him to be released from custody by Friday.
Winslow’s next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17.
Winslow, whose dad is iconic former Chargers tight end Kellen Winslow Sr., grew up in San Diego before playing college football at Miami and going on to a 10-year NFL career that ended in 2013.

A preliminary hearing for former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., who is accused of raping several women, took a really strange turn on Wednesday when one of the women identified Winslow’s lawyer as the man who attacked her.
According to the New York Post, the preliminary hearing was set to determine whether the one-time NFL star would stand trial after being accused of multiple counts of “kidnapping, rape, indecent exposure and burglary.”
Winslow pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. On Wednesday, when one of the women who claimed that she was attacked by Winslow was asked to point him out in the courtroom, she point to and identified his lawyer, Brian Watkins, as her attacker.
“The man in the middle,” the woman said, identifying Watkins.
“Don’t put Brian Watkins, accused of rape,” Watkins told The USA Today. “Don’t do that, man. There will be defamation lawsuits all over the place.”
Winslow is accused of raping the homeless woman on March 13, according to charging documents viewed by the New York Post. Her inability to identify Winslow in court was used by his attorney to bolster the former Pro Bowl tight end’s innocence.
“Well, she did not describe our defense and our client and didn’t ID him in court,” Watkins later said outside of the San Diego County courtroom. “She ID’d me. I didn’t have anything to do with this. You better not write that I did.”
A San Diego County Sheriff’s Department deputy also testified that the woman was unable to identify Winslow from a photo lineup.
“Two other witnesses in the case also could not identify Winslow in court on Wednesday, including a 58-year-old woman who said a man named ‘David’ entered her home in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and exposed himself in June. When asked Wednesday if Winslow was on her property that day, the woman could not identify him,” KSWB reports.
Winslow is also charged with raping a 59-year-old woman on May 13. She is expected to testify Thursday. If convicted, Winslow faces up to life in prison.

New York Jets tight end Kellen Winslow, Jr., who's scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, was recently charged with drug possession after an incident that took place in November. Police weren't originally called to the scene for that reason, however.
Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reports a woman called authorities after encountering Winslow inside his car in a Target parking lot with the windows down on a cold day. From there, the situation turned bizarre, as noted by the police information passed along in the report:
As she exited her vehicle, she commented to the male regarding how cold it was. As she stood near the open driver side window of the Escalade, she observed the males [sic] erect penis. She stated that she believed he was masturbating. [The woman] provided a written statement regarding her account.
The incident in question happened at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19. When police arrived, Winslow was still in the car and told the officer that he had been looking for Boston Market before getting lost, according to the report.
Winslow was not exposing himself when the police reached his car. Cosentino states the officer did notice other suspicious things in the vehicle and asked to conduct a further search, which the 2004 first-round pick agreed to:
The cop noticed Winslow was wearing "dark colored" sweatpants and wrote that "his genitals were not exposed." But the cop also noticed "two open containers of Vaseline on his center console" and plastic bags marked "Mr. Happy" and empty plastic containers of "Funky Monkey" scattered throughout the vehicle.
Winslow allegedly told police he smoked the "Mr. Happy" and "Funky Monkey" at his home to relax because the NFL doesn't drug test for it, and that he buys the stuff on the internet and at gas stations. Police say he consented to a vehicle search, and after a few items were seized into evidence, Winslow was free to go.
Peggy Wright of the Daily Record reported last week that upon further testing it turned out the substance in question was Fubinaca, which is a synthetic form of cannabis or marijuana. It took more than a month for the complaint to get filed:
Township Detective Sgt. John Fox Jr. allegedly found Winslow in possession of the designer drug on Nov. 19 by the Target store on Route 10 but a criminal complaint charging the player with possession of the drug was not signed until Dec. 30.
Cosentino's report states police noted lewdness as a potential crime when they filed the incident report, but none of the charges Winslow faces involve the alleged actions.

He was charged with the third-degree offense of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, which includes potential jail time.
Wright also passed along remarks from Jets spokesperson Bruce Speight, who said, "We are aware of the situation. This is a pending legal matter and we will have no comment."
Winslow released a statement through his agency, courtesy of Denise White of EAG Sports Management:
It's too early to tell how the situation will impact Winslow's playing career. He caught 31 passes for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Jets in 2013.
