I feel him and he's right, Drake did think that "Family Matters" was the nuke song to end it all. And it would've been a great drop felt around the rap world, had Kendrick not dropped his reply to it 10 minutes later :roflmao:

Family Matters would have been a nuke song against the vast majority of rappers but Kendrick isn't the majority.

Add to that the fact that Kendrick had clearly either already heard the song or at least given specifics as to what would be said and you realize Drake was cooked from the door.

Plus you can't have all of the faults that Drake has and not expect a talented artist like Kendrick to rap about it.

And yes, Kendrick heard the song and was ready to release his as soon as Drake released it.

My pops lives in San Diego and rode his bike cross country from there to Houston some years back... he got into it with a H.A. member while out at dinner in El Paso,TX... he thought it was over and done with but when he left he noticed there were 2 or 3 more there and all looking in his direction... he managed to slip away from them somehow and get to his hotel room.

He says he drove his bike into the room, backed it up against the door placed the couch and a few other things to cover the window, then slept in the far corner of the room facing the door in a rolling desk chair with both his guns in his lap.

All throughout the night he told me he could hear them fuckers riding up and down the street... in the area, in the parking lot, everywhere... he just knew they were looking for him.

The next morning when it was time to checkout he said he didn't even bother going to the office he drove his bike out from the room made a beeline to the highway and drove about a hunnid all the way to San Antonio...

Props to your dad. Played it smart and took no chances thereafter. Stayed as low-key as possible!

Drake said:

I'm goin' on vacation now, hope next time y'all plan it right
'Cause you gotta pay for sayin' my name, guess now niggas understand the price

He said that shit like he dropped the mic and was walking off like B.Rabbit

:roflmao3:

I agree, that shit was soul burning

crazy part?

Drake always claimed to STUDY the greats

But he did NOT follow the blueprints of Jay Z which would have made him basically IGNORE Kendrick until HE was really ready

And he kept spinning that 50 Cent chain... but did NOT follow Curtis art of war and keep hitting Kendrick with GOOD MUSIC...

NON STOP

Drake study of the greats was about making pop music and trying to sell. It wasn’t about rapping skills or creating artistic music…

That was definitely his drop the mic moment!

Drake shot a whole video, bought a van to crush in it and shot at different locations.

All nullified in 10 minutes after Kendrick's diss. When Drake saw that shit he

Yep, snatch that nigga heart immediately!! I would have love to seen the look on his camp faces. I know he looked crazy; but to see their faces would have been priceless…

Honestly it might've been worse than Ether. Definitely not the same effect as when Nas dropped his because the position Nas was in and it was unexpected.

That record shook the world

But with what was said in the song. It stripped Drake to his core and addressed every fault the man had since birth! :roflmao:

Yeah, and ETHER didn't necessarily erase TAKEOVER like MEET THE GRAHAMS erased FAMILY MATTERS

Like seriously. Euphoria and 6:16 were both warnings and tone setters. That's what makes Meet the Grahams so impactful. So as soon as you hear the first two words Kendrick spit, you knew this was about to take a massive turn.

It did because of no social media back then so I think the anticipation of Nas was so fucking high and he delivered. The build wasnt as much with kdot; but boy did he deliver as well…

Nah the build up for Nas wasn't high. He was considered defeated and counted out and that's why it hit harder.

Once he said fuck Jay z and that beat dropped it was a rap.
