You got it, man.
I was talking to a friend of mine last night & he mentioned Payne's death at the start of the call. I was saying unfortunately all signs seemed to be pointing towards suicide.
He was like - "Nah ... it's only the 3rd story though. Usually people do so from way higher."
To paraphrase a helicopter I replied - "Yeah, but this is real life though, and not the movies. People die from smaller falls due to severe injuries. Whether intentional or accidental. Who knows the psychological / physiological state he was in. And this isn't Russia either ... people aren't just randomly falling down staircases, or off balcony ledges."
(* Side note ... remembered after the call that someone died from a cranial fracture & internal bleeding at an old workplace some years back (I had worked there about 10 - 12 years prior to the incident). They jumped / fell from the 2nd story of a house and landed on grass.
I think that's why I've always been weary when seeing people get hammered off alcohol and / or drugs while on vacation ... then returning to a hotel or high-rise and calling it a night while out of sorts. A much safer place to be would be a ground-level AirBnb. Preferably with people around to keep an eye on them and their status)
happened to my uncle the week after Fourth of July.
he went to the liquor store to get a 5th. went back to his apartment (he stays in the same apartment as my dad, and in the upstairs unit above my dad's).
he got sloppy drunk,....came outside and fell over the railing and landed on his head. ended up fracturing his skull, broke his arm, one of his legs, and 3 ribs.
He spent the next 2 months in ICU.....developed pneumonia while he was there. Then moved out of ICU to a different hospital so that he could start rehab on his walking, motor skills, and speech.
Now he's been transferred to a nursing home,....able to walk on his own with the help of a walker,....but still has speech therapy 3 times a week.
He's still not able to eat on his own yet. Been getting tube fed since the fall. If there's anything that'll make someone stop drinkin.....this would be it.
