The pilot was incredible, but this episode was just okay for me. I liked what I saw, I just didn't like the way they rushed through everything. It was like an entire season crammed into one episode. Apparently, the pacing is very much in line with the book so I need to get used to it.

Anyway, a little something on the pilot. They were going to use Michael Jackson's "Thriller" when the Shoggoths attacked in the woods. :eek2:

When Tic had on the yellow t-shirt and blue jeans, I thought,"Dafuq!Luke Cage?" Hmm, could Jonathan Majors be recast in the the role? I think though, you gotta cast a brother at minimum who is 6'3 to play Cage who is 6'6 in the comics. I guess they could do camera tricks, but I'm not sure. Majors is 6'0.

We Can’t Ignore H.P. Lovecraft’s White Supremacy

"And his contempt for blacks ran even deeper. In his 1912 poem entitled “On the Creation of *******,” the gods, having just designed Man and Beast, create blacks in semi-human form to populate the space in between. Regarding the domestic terrorism of white minorities in the predominantly black Alabama and Mississippi, he excused them for “resorting to extra-legal measures such as lynching and intimidation [because] the legal machinery does not sufficiently protect them.” He lamented these sullen tensions as unfortunate, but nevertheless says that “anything is better than the mongrelisation which would mean the hopeless deterioration of a great nation.” Miscegenation permeates his letters and stories as his most corporeal fear; he insists that only “pain and disaster [could] come from the mingling of black and white.”" :hmm:

But then again, the series was developed by a Sister Misha Green and a brother Jordan Peele. :)

So I'm getting some confusion about this show so was it developed from a book written by Lovecraft or was it just based on characters from his book?
The show is based off of the book by the same title.
Lovecraft Country is a 2016 dark fantasy horror novel by Matt Ruff, exploring the conjunction between the horror fiction of the writer H. P. Lovecraft and racism in the United States during the era of Jim Crow laws, as experienced by black science-fiction fan Atticus Turner and his family.

Oh shit I didn't know that I heard about Lovecraft's books and how he hated black people.....shit. I know he's rolling in his grave now to have a black show runner and a black writer on this series lol.

i was listening to karen hunter on 8/25/2020. the writer was on the show. he flat out said that the only reason there is a show is because of jordan peele. without his pull there would be no show. they filmed the entire first season on peele's cred alone and didn't have to shoot a pilot.

misha green got in the mix because of peele and the white dude writer saw how well she did with underground and agreed.

this is not a white boy production by any means.
