And they re-created this photo as well.......
That's right!But they're not down south.
They're up north.
The sheriff and deputies are local boys, right? How come they don’t know about not going into those woods? On ep.1 now. This shit got me fully focused so far. Green book ref. Sundown town and county references... and that racist fucking sheriff made me want to shoot at my screen.
I saw that one and the other one with the unemployment line. Two iconic photosMan I thought it was dope how they re-created Gordon Parks iconic photo....
Midwest had a lot of sundown townsBut they're not down south.
They're up north.
Jurnee Smollett is the low key MVP so far. She brought it in every scene. When she ran out of the bathroom diner and said "get y'alls asses up, we gotta get the fuck outta here" and jumped in the driver's seat, I knew she was gonna be fire. Being sexy as hell doesn't hurt either. Can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Jordan Peele man......this was like that
Midwest had a lot of sundown towns
Not necessarily Lou Kayge (althought, you are correct in that they are half sisters),however, my family is like that whereas we range in complexions from very dark to very light (same parents). Ironically, my oldest brother has 2 daughters with his wife that would remind you of Ruby Baptiste (the older sister) and Leti Lewis (Jurnee Smollett). Genetics in the black community are truly a roll of the dice when it comes to complexions.Gonna assume Jurnee's character has a different Daddy than her other 2 siblings. They are way darker than her.

When they threw in that gay shit, I was like, "God damn. Not again."Never seen a show with this many black intellectuals. Cool. Jurnee is a slimee that needs to get it. Despite somewhat having nasatall. They had to throw in a brief moment of faggotry.

I saw it, but only because somebody posted it on Twitter. Tomorrow I'm going to watch the full thing again. It was just that good.Damn you got a good eye
I know Maryland has quite a few sundown towns. Greenbelt and Crofton right outside Washington, DC were sundown towns.Midwest had a lot of sundown towns
Thanks, I went to school in College Park, and I could never explain why I had a strange feeling when we would go to Greenbelt mall.I know Maryland has quite a few sundown towns. Greenbelt and Crofton right outside Washington, DC were sundown towns.
interesting point. maybe they do, just with their lights on?The sheriff and deputies are local boys, right? How come they don’t know about not going into those woods?
MISHA GREEN
she is the architect behind this show. She was behind that good show the underground that got canceled because it was too raw and too real.
Gonna assume Jurnee's character has a different Daddy than her other 2 siblings. They are way darker than her.

That show not being renewed was a travesty
HBO did a terrible job at promoting this show. I thought it was just some black drama/love story that takes place in the 60's.
It shows how the police have been a tool of racism against black people, also keep in mind a lot of these white people who use to protest black kids going to school and support racism are still alive and well today.
Racism
She went to a better place
let me know when you wanna go in on this first episode
Ready
They did a great job lol
That's why it's trending and people checked it out
And now you know it's crazy as fuck
They didn't give the show away
And honestly so far the first episode is the tamest of the ones I saw.
But in horror movies, when running from a monster you are suppose to trip on the ground
Naw, it was just by luck that I even checked it out because I was bored.
that opening sequence...
It was magical
the transition from Saving private Ryan to damn near Invasion form Mars meets John Carter meets 50 era sci fi schlock the seamless mashing of genres
I REALLY was AWED by that.
what did you think?
It showed the power of a good book. How you get lost in the fantasy only to arrive back in a bleak reality.
Jackie Robinson fighting aliens in one minute
In the next you're walking into town because you can't ride on the white truck.
Also
How many shows have a black man enjoying a good book?
Of courseI KNEW YOU WOULD CATCH THAT!!!!!!
