They aren't comedies. I don't find them funny. But most are humorous and I would dislike them if they weren't.
I understand critics like you not liking the quips but that doesn't bother me. They don't always land true. And sometimes its excessive.
Its a matter of preference.
Its the Marvel style and MILLIONS like it
Because there are also moments where the entire theater stands up and cheers and moments that people STILL go back decade later and weep.
I get you don't like it but your take is not absolute.
Its your opinion and you have your right to it.
I think something you are missing is this is NOT the Dark Knight (which truth be told I think is grossly overrated
It does not try to be or want to be
Its Marvel.
These movies are targeting FAMILIES for the MOST part.
Not JUST YOU or me or @Day_Carver
They have to hit EVERYONE and that's a tough ask.
And they TRYING to create sub genres with in the MCU
heist, action, political thriller, mystery, adult comedy etc etc
I GET your complaints
but it aint changing much anytime soon.
And the box office been fine.
You NOW my rule... if you don;t like it?
Don't watch it.
And I've stopped watching a lot of it. Also, I'm going to criticize them when I have a problem with them. And you have every right not to like my takes and not read them. Over 40 years of reading and watching these Marvel characters gives me a right to have an opinion.
Marvel doesn't share your opinion that the box office has been fine.
Marvel Studios Boss Admits 2023 Was a ‘Rough Time,’ but Says: ‘If We Just Stayed on Top, That Would’ve Been the Worst Thing’ and ‘We Learned Our Lesson’
Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito says staying on top forever was going to be a bad thing for the company.

"Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito admitted to Empire magazine that “it’s been a rough time” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe following a rocky 2023 that included box office flops “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “The Marvels.” The latter title is the lowest-grossing MCU movie of all time with just $206 million worldwide. Marvel didn’t fare better on television, where series such as “Secret Invasion” were widely panned by critics.
Despite these setbacks, D’Esposito is committed to seeing the glass half full. He told the publication that “if we just stayed on top, that would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us. We took a little hit, we’re coming back strong.”
Deadpool and Wolverine did great - but a lot of that, in my opinion - is seeing Wolverine on screen again. Also Deadpool is really based on the humor, so it fits that franchise.
But you're absolutely right Marvel is going to continue to make movies that try to be comedic first. And we'll see how the audience reacts. But they didn't too much like Thor Love and Thunder either.
