Interesting...

Some people are co signing the weekly releases saying it's how all streaming should do now. But it seems many want it the other way like old Netflix style.
I can't speak for the masses but I prefer the old Netflix/Marvel binge model for these shows.

I didn't care to much for Ashoka first time around but in an binge rewatch (after watching the last season of Rebels) made Ashoka feel like an natural successor and basically live action Rebels season 5.

I also avoided Loki s2 until it was over and binged it. Much better experience.

This 'shows' aren't really tv shows. They're 4-5 hrs movies unnecessarily cut into 6-8 episodes.

The only reason they cut the stories I to multiple episodes is to justify their monthly streaming rates. Breaking it up into pieces doesn't really serve the story in anyway. The stories play out better when you take it all in over a shorter period.

At least for me anyway :dunno:

I'm surprised some big analytical firm hasn't studied exactly what makes a show " binge able"

with all these shows releasing now
doing it weekly sucks
i havent seen half star wars shows cause of that
I've only seen the Mando & Ashoka season 1 all the way thru. I started all the other SW shows but fell off somewhere during the weekly releases when life got busy and I just plain forgot these shows existed.

So much easier to dedicate a few hours over a single weekend to watch a show than to add a show to your weekly life plans and trying to remember that Friday or Wednesday is Disney+ day.

The Boys and Invincible currently fall into this category. Especially Invincible season 2. That started with multi-verse shenanigans and out of sequence storytelling.

So basically the audience is supposed to watch these week to week while not knowing what the fuck is going on (ie Lost, Loki)

OR ... we can wait for this bitch for wrap up and watch it all in one and not spend 10 weeks posting online about what you think the show is actually about.

It’s hit/miss on whether it should be weekly or all episodes released at once.

If there is a big surprise, it’s best to have it weekly cuz mofos will quickly FF thru all the episodes and open their big mouth on the internet what the surprise was.

The 2nd season finale of the Mandalorian is a perfect example with Luke Skywalker making a surprise cameo. If Disney had released all the episodes at once, within 10 minutes blabber mouths would have been all over the internet spoiling it before folks got a chance to watch the series from start to finish.

You're not wrong. Especially about the Luke/Mandalorian thing. I honestly don't have an answer.

I didn't watch Loki until about two weeks ago and I had no problem avoiding spoilers. I personally know it's not impossible, but I admit that some in the general public must find it unbearable.

There is something to be said about not sitting on the couch for the better part if an entire Saturday just watching a single. TV show. Binging ain't perfect, but in terms of show enjoyment, it just works better.
It's definitely hit or miss

I'm going over the classic Netflix shows trying to figure out if I'd been able to get thru them if they were weekly.

Luke Cage, Dare-devil, and Punisher would have probably be fine regardless of how they aired.

Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Defenders tho :smh: You could even throw Stranger Things s1 in there. All those shows were really slow burns where shit didn't start popping off or even making sense until like ep5. Jessica Jones would have lost the bulk of the audience before ep 4

Let Feige cook.

Apparently he never wanted to flood the streamer. He had a specific plan and rollout prepared.

Let's see if the new game plan puts the boys back on track

I disagree he finally got the reins back.

But we will see in the next 2 years whose right.

Regardless his run is one for the record books.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm sort of skeptical of the pedro Pascal casting. Im picturing him with out a mustache trying to see if he would work as reed Richards. From casting harry styles as star fox to this I think they should avoid casting well known celebrities and do what worked in phase 1and 2 and cast mostly unknowns.
one of the things that marvel studios does well is casting…

I bet you dedicated thread that we get more than one next year
Nah fam only Deadpool in 2024; anything else will be TV shows on Disney plus; but no movies in the theaters. Especially with this verdict, they will have Doom now as main antagonist with Kang as sidekick…
