The VFX industry is trapped in a downward spiral
VFX workers are struggling to get by. Speaking to Inverse, four visual effects veterans describe an industry marred by brutal deadlines, slashed budgets, mass layoffs, and industry-wide burnout.
So i might be the only person here whose an independent movie producer, so when it comes to vfx i can share my limited experience.
Its all about the deadline, technological limits and executive expectations.
I make all the decisions for my product. Im going to see my artistic vision completed. My deadline IS WHEN ITS DONE.
For hollyweird, they start with a deadline and work their way backwards. It takes time to build, create, augment and render images. Executives expect that shit to be instantaneous. It ain't. It used to be where a movie would have 15 cgi scenes. Now the whole movie is cgis.
Because of the volume of cgis demanded the studios cant spend time on them making sure they're good.
Its impossible for vfx artists, and many companies are going bankrupt because of it.
Here's the kicker: practical effects tech has caught up with and surpassed cgi, but executives are too stupid to realize it.

they started this trend and they - in concert with Disney Buena Vista -are the largest market drivers
Paramount WB Sony & Universal cant come close to matching the vfx demand created by Marvel

All jokes aside you know damn well of course I understand the ramifications of a studio as powerful as Disney especially with the properties it owns in both TV, movies and animation is most culpable.
My point was the other studios especially as the competition grows are just as bad ie Amazon and Netflix etc.
as far as I know - Amazon and Netflix don't set release dates ahead of production

No truer words have been spoken in here.If the MCU fizzles tomorrow, they'll be remembered for creating the best line of superhero/comic films in the history of motion pictures. They created the concept of a true cinematic universe that will be used so often from here on out, future generations won't understand how people watched movies without it.
Their legacy is sealed. I was entertained and if I grow tired of the movies from now on, I'll just move on without any hard feelings. It was a good run and I enjoyed myself.
I've been feeling that exact way since End Game. The fact they were able to keep the thing going strong for 10 years across 21 movies, & a handful of TV shows is already a miracle.
Everything after End Game is just extra cherries on top.

TBH, I wouldn't have been mad if the MCU took a break from the big screen for a few years. Focus on the Disney+ stuff and have fans start to miss the movies.
It would be like R* focusing on GTA Online instead of releasing a new game. Fans are ready to sell their first-born for GTA 6.
Of course they were. However, the scene itself was horrible. You have to admit that. It was a GREAT movie. However, this particular scene was forced and made little to no sense. Even as a Marvel stan,, you have to see that.
I've said this numerous times before, Marvel has some of the best female characters. Unfortunately, they have not utilized them yet.
I really like Marvel. I just don't like everything they have done, especially the latest content. It's simply not good.

I had no problem with it then nor do I have a problem with it now. It's not a scene that has any bearing on the plot. It's pure fanservice. The whole battle was forced because it doesn't make since that the entire MCU roster ended up there at that very moment but it was great entertainment.
I agree that they haven't utilized their women heroes very well. But, if they do utilize them, you'll likely have morons accusing Marvel of having a "feminist" agenda. I still don't get the hate directed Captain Marvel.
I wish they could have worked it out schedule wise.

Because it was overly hyped when is was just a mediocre movie that was sandwiched between good movies.....sans Antman & The Wasp.
In order...
Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War, Antman & The Wasp (mediocre), Captain Marvel, then Endgame.
Antman & The Wasp was a let down. So, Marvel fans were eager to get back to the greatness they were used to. Then all the extra promotions happened to make up for Antman, which raised the bar too high for Captain Marvel. Then Endgame happened, which further pushed Captain Marvel into the shadows.
Also let's not forget that Brie Larson and Lashana Lynch just aren't that good. I want a black Captain Marvel or Spectrum more than anything. But, LL ain't it.
