Hopefully the kids will already be inside or there'll be someone around to prevent that. There could be a failsafe where certain doors could be open or locked as needed.

That's more of a high school concern rather than elementary school one. Again some type of failsafe could be installed.
Or we could make schools more like airports with body scanners. It's better than making them like prisons.
Another difference in that case is that he was cornered in a place where there was no one else near him. That's why they were able to use explosives to kill him.
You can't do that if there are innocent people around.
Again, they would have found a way to get him with minimum loss of life. Maybe not that way, but a way, if officers were the target.

I agree. They would've did their job and breached the school and killed the shooter. That was the only option and they chose not to do it. The off-duty border patrol agent had to do it.

The doors cannot be opened from the outside. Not to keep out a mass shooter but to keep mofos from sneaking in shoplifting or sneaking past the ticket booth.

True. Republicans claim it's mental health, but don't want to expand mental health care. Now I think we all agree that anyone who is doing these crazy mass shootings has mental problems. Gun allow them to easily carry out their demented plans. Both points are true.
Since republicans don't want to address the guns, they should be the biggest proponents of expanded mental health care. Especially since their base tends to eat guns for breakfast. But they aren't. Much like republicans stance on abortion(save the fetus, fuck the baby), they are showing hypocrisy.
Democrats should call the republican's bluff and announce the KIDS act(or some catchy name). Keeping Innocent Darlings Safe act. Straight mental care expansion. Serious spending. Make republicans put up or shut up. Democrats never use any real strategy though.
