Hatton vs Marquez. Manchester, 2010.

Rumours are really starting to gather pace now of a Ricky Hatton comeback. Hatton 45-2 (32) is according to numerous reports, looking to fight in 2010 and the very high quality Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez 50-5-1 (37) is likely to be the opponent.

Hatton has been out of the ring since being brutally knocked out by Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao back in May. At the time, it seemed logical for Hatton to retire but it seems that Hatton is ready to fight again. Hatton has reportedly got the itch to fight again after watching several of the fighters he now promotes training and having success in the ring.

The chief executive of Hatton promotions, Gareth Williams has told several daily tabloids that “If Ricky does carry on it would be an ideal fight for him to take on Marquez. He is an elite fighter, just like Ricky, who will want to challenge the best. It makes more sense to fight Marquez than some of the other names that have been banded about”.

Marquez is also an excellent fighter having won titles at several weights and has drew and lost a razor thin points decision to Pacquiao. However he is coming off a landslide points defeat to Floyd Mayweather and would view a bout with Hatton as far bigger than his scheduled fight with Aussie hard man Michael Katsidis.

Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions also had the following to say. “Juan immediately accepted the challenge, accepted the opportunity and would love to come to Manchester. Juan is someone I know Ricky wants to fight”.

This writer would love to see a bout between Hatton and Marquez. However Hatton has now lost two bouts to the very best in the business and Marquez is now 36 years old. Whoever loses, it really would mean the end of their career.

ward !!!!

Yep, he whupped that ass! I just didn't like alot of the mistakes he was making in there. Kesler seemed rooted to the ground and wasn't capitalizing on shit. Even Ward seemed surprised about that.
Had he been fighting Abraham, he definitely would've got caught with something big, especially the left hook which he was open for with every lunge. I still think he knew what he was doing with those 2 butts. Accidental butts usually happen forehead-to-forehead. Andre was coming in with the top of his head - they teach you that at the Holyfield school.
But regardless, Kessler couldn't do shit with him, Ward surprised the shit outta me, the young man has serious skills and speed. A little too much hitting and holding for my taste but you do what you gotta to win. FINALLY a brother is the 168 champ. Congratulations to the new champ.

Pacquiao vs Foreman May Be Next in March, Says Roach

By Mark Vester

Trainer Freddie Roach has confirmed BoxingScene.com's big scoop over the weekend; Manny Pacquiao may move up to 154-pounds to target a world title shot against undefeated WBA champion Yuri Foreman. Foreman and Pacquiao are both promoted by Top Rank. Roach, who will be in Amir Khan's corner this Saturday, told British press that Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn't want to fight Pacquiao in March, and Manny doesn't want to wait until May or June to fight again - likely due to a possible election run as noted earlier by BoxingScene's Ronnie Nathanielsz.

"Mayweather doesn't want to fight in March, so we might fight for the 154 pound title in March and move up for that eighth world title. I'm thinking about that still and it's something that I'm kicking around in my head right now," Roach said.

"Yuri Foreman might be the opponent. It is a possibility, and then Mayweather in September. If they guarantee me that, we'll do that, but I need more of a commitment from Mayweather because he's not negotiating too well. It has to happen, and with the money they are going to make out of it, I feel it will happen. Mayweather can't make that money with anybody else."

Bernard Hopkins, a partner in Golden Boy Promotions [who are backing Mayweather], told BoxingScene.com over the weekend that Pacquiao would likely face Foreman before Mayweather, and Floyd would likely fight Shane Mosley - should he beat Andre Berto in January.

Uh oh!!!!! :D :D :D

Manny fucking Pacquaio you better agree to this fight or I will find you and call your bitch ass out you fuckin gremlin

Pacquiao-Mayweather: March 13 or Bust Says Bob Arum

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum arrived in Manila on an early morning Philippine Airlines flight from Las Vegas with one clear message for pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and that is if he doesn’t agree to a Floyd Mayweather Jr fight on March 13, the megabuck super-fight may not happen at all.

Arum and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer who effectively hammered out a deal which began with a luncheon meeting on Monday in Las Vegas are sworn to secrecy until they have a final agreement, there are clear indications that they have basically come to terms.

Arum was expected to meet with Pacquiao sometime late on Thursday since the boxing icon arrived from General Santos and went straight to continue shooting his "Wapakman" movie and didn’t have time to even pass by the hotel to meet Arum who was waiting for him along with Pacquiao’s longtime friend and sometime confidant Rex "Wakee" Salud.

Arum said that he hadn’t set an appointment to meet with Pacquiao although Pacquiao knew that the promoter was arriving on Thursday morning. Arum told us, "obviously if I didn’t believe that this thing could happen I wouldn’t be here. But I haven’t talked to Manny about various things so Manny is the principal. He has to signoff on it."

In an exclusive interview with BoxingScene.com, insidesports.ph, Standard Today and Viva Sports along with ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo at the New World Hotel in Makati, Arum said "it has to be March 13 because of this crazy congressional thing" where the original proposal of a May 1 fight date would not be feasible because of Pacquiao’s bid for a seat in the House of Representatives in the May 10 elections next year.

Arum said "we have everything in place to get it done but we’ve got to start now." Arum indicated "there is no reason why Pacquiao wouldn’t do the fight. He trains in the months of January and February and we are not doing a tour and doing only one press conference in New York at Madison Square Garden." He said Pacquiao can go into training in Baguio City or the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles.

Arum said "I am not here to interfere with his political life and March 13 doesn’t." He also made it clear that if Pacquiao "let’s Mayweather off the hook now by not agreeing to the March 13 date because of politics here in this country then we are never going to get him (Mayweather) in the ring. We will give him the excuse to say ‘yeah I’ll fight anybody but look at this Pacquiao."

Arum said "you can make an argument that because he is running for office Manny can’t fight on May 1st but you can’t logically with a straight face make an argument for March 13."

The astute promoter who promoted some of Mayweather’s fights in the past said he doesn’t think Mayweather "has anything to beat him (Pacquiao) with. I think Mayweather is a very, very good defensive fighter and I think that between Freddie (Roach) and Manny they’ll find a key to be able to attack Mayweather and once Manny can attack Mayweather I don’t think Mayweather can take his punches. I look for Manny to knock him out in six or seven rounds."

Arum cautioned against underestimating Mayweather stating that he is a "very, very good fighter. He is probably one of the best defensive fighters that I’ve seen. But I tell you that as far as Manny Pacquiao, he will destroy Mayweather and that’s why I like the fight, my matchmaker Bruce Trampler who is about to enter the Hall of Fame and Freddie Roach likes the fight and that’s why Mayweather has been reluctant to do the fight" stressing that it is imperative for Pacquiao to agree.

Whatever, Arum...you're just wishing that Floyd loses to your fighter...ain't gonna happen.

Nah, yo...there won't be no cut wrists or hangings, Pacquiao will just lose the election cause no one will vote for him :D:D:D

and there was no way that the fight was 119-110. I do give Williams credit, though...he stepped up when he was tested...plus, he said he wouldn't mind fighting Martinez again as there would be more interest for the fight now...screw waiting for a "ghost"....

Definitely, Paul was getting strafed constantly with hard shots but he never backed down and kept throwing and landing his own shots, I'd love to see a rematch, this was fight of the year material here. Like I said, I thought it was a draw but I could see either winning by a point. The 119-110 score ruined a great fight, that's my problem with it, not that Williams won, just the score pissed me off.
with that being said, motherfuck Kelly Pavlik. Dude hasn't done ANYTHING as champion except get his ass whupped by B-Hop.

JAMES TONEY: "BERNARD WILL MAKE EVERY EXCUSE IN THE WORLD NOT TO FIGHT ME"

James-Toney26.jpg

JAMES TONEY: "BERNARD WILL MAKE EVERY EXCUSE IN THE WORLD NOT TO FIGHT ME"
By Percy Crawford | December 08, 2009

"I'm like Freddie Kruger to Bernard Hopkins. I'm Candyman; he says my name 3 times and he's going to see me. Bernard knows who he can pick on. He picks fights that he knows he can win. He's not going to fuck with me. He wants to fuck with Roy Jones and now he's talking about David Haye…he will fight Felix Trinidad again before he says my name. I'm telling the boxing fans right now, don't let Bernard fool ya'll into watching him fight some bullshit headline fight. He's trying to fight guys he has already fought and they are a shell of what they were when he fought them the first time. Bernard will make every excuse in the world not to fight me," stated future Hall-of-Famer James "Lights Out" Toney as he shared his thoughts on Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr., Danny Green, David Haye and much more. Hearing that Hopkins is looking to become a heavyweight champion in 2010, Toney, a legend in his own right, is eager to replace Roy Jones Jr. as his next opponent to help him get his feet wet in the new division. Check it out!

PC: JT, I know you have a lot you want to cover. It's the "Lights Out Show" right now, so what do you want to begin with?

JT: It's on you Percy Mercy. We can always get into it about Roy getting knocked out by a bum in 2 minutes.

PC: That's a good starting point. You did some sparring with Danny Green awhile back, right?

JT: Yeah, I fucked Danny Green up real bad. He came over here running his mouth and he couldn't get out of trouble after that. Roy let this motherfucker knock him out. I didn't even see the fight, but I heard he got hit with a thumb on his ear and went down like the statue on Rocky. I didn't see it, but I heard it was bad. He should have never lost to that dude; that's embarrassing. Roy Jones could go put his thumb in his mouth and in his ass and go fight chickens like the rest of those fags do.

PC: Do you think it is worse that Roy lost or the fact that Hopkins still wants to make that fight, because let's be honest, the fans get screwed if they make that fight on pay-per-view.

JT: I saw that shit. He said as long as Jones didn't go out on his back, but shit he might as well have. He got knocked out; he had to go out some kind of way. Bernard should be ashamed.

PC: Did you watch Hopkins' fight with Ornelas?

JT: I watched 3 rounds and turned it off because it was boring as usual. They didn't even want to play music for him to come out to. Bernard should have knocked that dude out. They want to talk about who I fought last, but I did what I was supposed to do against a fighter like that and that's what Bernard should have done to that dude. Niggas can talk all of the shit they want to talk about, but they ain't going to get in the ring with me. That's the bottom line. All of them want to talk that shit, but they can step right up, get in the ring with me and make my motherfucking day. I'm like McDonald's boy, I'm serving them. Bernard Hopkins should be ashamed of himself for the shit he put on last night with his old snaggletooth, billy goat looking ass. He put on that sorry ass showing in Philadelphia; they should have booed his ass. Bernard has no marketability. They had to put curtains around the top of the stadium so people wouldn't see all of those empty seats. At least I can put 15,000 people in seats when I fight.

PC: A lot of people wanted to see the Hopkins-Jones rematch, but it's lost a lot of steam with the way that Jones lost more than anything. You and Hopkins shared Ring Magazine's cover at one point. Do you think just as many people want to get Hopkins-Toney for the first time rather than Hopkins-Jones for the second time?

JT: Hell yeah, but he won't say my name. He scared. I'm like Freddie Kruger to Bernard Hopkins. I'm Candyman; he says my name 3 times and he's going to see me. Bernard knows who he can pick on. He picks fights that he knows he can win. He's not going to fuck with me. He wants to fuck with Roy Jones and now he's talking about David Haye. Come on now. David Haye's going to destroy him and David Haye can't even fight. he will fight Felix Trinidad again before he says my name. I'm telling the boxing fans right now, don't let Bernard fool ya'll into watching him fight some bullshit headline fight. He's trying to fight guys he has already fought and they are a shell of what they were when he fought them the first time. Bernard will make every excuse in the world not to fight me.

PC: Is Danny Green a fight that you would be interested in?

JT: If Danny Green wants to fight, he can get it. All you have to do is send a news wire to Australia and tell Danny Green to come and get it again baby! This time, we can do it for real.

PC: I watched your sparring session with Green, but for people reading the interview that didn't get a chance to see it, how did it go?

JT: Tell everybody to go to YouTube and you will see what James Toney did to Danny Green. They going to be like, "That's the dude that beat Roy Jones??!?!" I beat the breaks off his ass. As a matter of fact, I turned him from pure white to gray. I kicked his ass. If we were to ever fight, they will probably throw me in jail for attempted murder.

PC: Do you think these other guys are just fighting for paydays and you still are trying to prove you are the baddest?

JT: I fight for paychecks too, but I want to fight for my money. I don't want to fight some guy that just got knocked out in the first round. Damn, at least let Roy get a few wins in. He calling the man out less than 24 hours after he got knocked the fuck out. Hopkins is trying to fool the public into thinking that would still be a good fight. That's why MMA is taking over and they are all over the airways and everything, because they putting the fights together and we are putting together bullshit. I'm telling you, I am going to have Dave take me to Toy R Us to buy 2 Barbie Dolls with skirts on and put fake belts on them and send them to the Klitschko Sisters for Christmas. I'm going to send Roy Jones a bag of ice for Christmas to heal his ego if he still has one. I read all on the internet where Roy Jones said he was going to do this and that and he went over there and didn't do shit but go to sleep after 2 minutes. That's a long flight to get his ass knocked out like that in 2 minutes and the worst part is he got beat up by a white boy. That's embarrassing. Roy and Bernard getting beat up by white boys. Calzaghe spanked both of their asses. As a matter of fact, Calzaghe spanked Bernard like a 3-year-old child. When I was at super middleweight I would have destroyed Calzaghe. Bernard and Roy need to stay away from white foreign fighters. Calzaghe slapped both of them around and Green beat Roy's ass faster than the time it take to make 2 minute rice. You see what I do to foreign white boys. I destroy them. I make them quit and run home to their mommas. You haven't heard from Vassiliy Jirov since. He tried to call me out one time and I told him he better go play with a kid. I don't play games like that. I take shit seriously. If he wants it again, all they have to do is come up with the money and I will knock him out faster. I made him a walking corps.

PC: Do you think Bernard makes for a viable heavyweight?

JT: Man, he trying to fight Haye, AKA Billy Ocean. Don't fight easy targets, even though he will get beat by David Haye, fight a real legend. Come fight me. I will fight anybody. I will fight Brock Lesnar. I don't care about him. He talks all that shit. Let's do this man. Everybody throw your hat in the ring and let's do this. I will fight anybody, anywhere at anytime. Alls they gotta do is pay me and don't fucking delay me.

PC: I gotta ask your thought on Chris Arreola's 4th round TKO over Brian Minto?

JT: He lucky Minto can't punch. Arreola is terrible. They are going to keep that bum as far away from me as possible. Nothing against Minto, but he was one ESPN's Friday Night Fights forever and now he is the co-main event on HBO. What is boxing coming to? Then you got these guys on HBO, Max Kellerman, Emmanuel Steward and Jim Lampley, saying Arreola is the best American heavyweight and the motherfucker is Mexican. They won't say my name and they won't put him nowhere near me.

PC: Dana White recently said he was dying to put a boxer in the Octagon because they wouldn't stand a chance. Is that something you would seriously do?

JT: Aw shit, tell Dana White he can suck my dick. That's why he calls out them bum ass fighters. He called out Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather, but they ain't calling James Toney out because they don't want to see me. They have the same excuse that I am old, fat and short. Well, come and see me then because it should be easy for them.

PC: Are you talking boxing rules or MMA rules as well? Ring or the cage?

JT: It don't matter man. Everybody thinks that I couldn't fight in a cage. I got one of the baddest motherfuckers in the world in my corner, man. "Pops" is one of the original cage fighting masters when he was fighting over there in Indonesia and won. I know all of the shit that they think I don't know. Dana White is a frustrated fighter because he used to be a boxer back in Boston and was getting knocked out every week, so he had to quit.

PC: So you are calling out anyone from cruiserweight to heavyweight in boxing and from light heavyweight to heavyweight in MMA?

JT: MMA or boxing, whatever they want to do, come see me. When I see MMA fighters at every fight, they come up to me telling me I'm great and all that and that's cool; keep it that way. But if you want to get on the other side, you can get on the other side too. It don't matter. We can do whatever they want to do too, just pay me and don't delay me. I guarantee you this, they pay me a lot of money and I'm going to knock your motherfucking head off.

PC: That's what's up JT. As always, I appreciate the interview man. Is there anything you want to close with?

JT: Tell them rats out there I got some cheese for them. Come and get it!

PC: We will put this out there for you my man.

JT: Alright baby! Have mercy Percy!

I'd love for this fight to get made just to hear them two old mufuccas talk shit at each other.:lol::lol:

I agree with you, but you and I know this shit is more business than boxing now. Shit, I'm with having big fights every weekend back on Channel 7 Wide World of Sports. However, this Saturday promises to be good!

Saturday: Bradley Faces Peterson on Showtime.

wp6c3de653.jpg

Saturday night in California marks the return of WBO junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (24-0-0, 11KO's), as he faces undefeated Lamont Peterson (27-0-0, 13KO's) in what looks to be a solid card televised live in the States by Showtime.
Bradley, a Californian resident, is coming off a No-Contest with Nate Campbell. Originally announced as a TKO victory for Bradley, the result was later changed by the California State Athletic Commission at a hearing after Campbell's promoter Don King lodged a complaint. The result may have been changed but everyone who saw the fight knows that Bradley was giving Campbell a beating and there was no doubt who the better man was. Nevertheless Bradley will want to get back on track with a win against Peterson.

As for Peterson, he currently holds the interim title, after defeating Willy Blain in seven, but Blain was certainly not a world class opponent and it could be argued that Peterson has done little to earn his shot. Only one name of note stands out on Peterson's record. That of Antonio Mesquita, who was 34-0 at the time. Peterson earned a wide margin unanimous decision victory that catapulted him into the world rankings, but since then victories over Rogelio Castaneda Jr, Lanardo Tyner and Willy Blain have hardly made the world stand up and take note. However, deserved or not, Peterson has his chance and has enough talent to potentially score the upset over Bradley.
Bradley has to be considered the favorite, as his wins over the likes of Junior Witter, Nate Campbell and Kendall Holt are far more than anything Peterson has accomplished, but with both men undefeated it will make for an exciting all-action fight, with neither man inclined to take a backwards step. Ulitmately though a victory for Braldey, whether by stoppage or decision, seems the likely outcome and anything else will be considered an upset.

Also

wp270c10bc.jpg

In the co-feature, Australian Vic Darchinyan (32-2-1, 26KO's) returns from his loss to Jospeh Agbeko for the IBF bantamweight title with a defence of the WBC super flyweight title he held prior to losing. In the other corner will be Mexican Tomas Rojas (32-11-1, 22KO's) who despite an average record is a decent fighter. Having only lost to world champions for the last three years (Jorge Arce, Anselmo Moreno and Gerry Penalosa), he is certainly no pushover and considering Darchinyan is coming off a loss is a pretty decent opponent.
Power punching Darchinyan was practically unbeatable as a flyweight, notching up six defences of his IBF title, before bumping into stylish southpaw Nonito Donaire, who sensationally KO'd the 'Raging Bull' in five rounds. Since then it's been a rocky road for Darchinyan, drawing with Z Gorres and losing to Agbeko, all without managing to secure a Donaire rematch. Tomorrow night the rematch could be high on Darchinyan's mind, and with an impressive performance could well create enough demand. It should be a victorious night for Darchinyan, but make no mistake this shouldn't be a pushover and a good win would go a long way to securing the Donaire rematch.

Saturday Night On HBO

wpf314acef.png

Boxing returns to Chicago on Saturday night, when Paulie Malignaggi (26-3, 5 KO’s) of Brooklyn, New York takes on Juan Diaz (35-2, 17 KO’s) of Houston, Texas in their much anticipated rematch. The first fight which took place in Diaz’s hometown of Houston ended in a controversial decision.
The scorecards read 115-113, 116-112, and even more shockingly 118-110. It was a very close fight with most ringside observers feeling that Malignaggi won the fight. In his post fight interview, Malignaggi slammed the judges, Golden Boy Promotions, and the sport of boxing, claiming that the fight was a set up from the beginning. The referee, was from Texas, one of the judges was from Texas, and one judge (Raul Caiz) has been accused of being pro-Mexican (Diaz is Mexican-American).
This time the playing field looks to be more even. First off, the fight will be fought at a catch weight of 139 pounds as opposed to the 138.5 pounds it took place at in the first fight. The contest will be taking place in Chicago, Illinois which is a hometown of neither fighter. The referee will be Genaro Rodriguez, a native of Illinois and the three judges scoring the bout will be Illinois’ Mauro Difore, Ohio’s Tom Miller, and Florida’s Michael Pernick.
The first fight was an exciting battle and the second fight is sure to offer much of the same. Diaz probably feels like he needs to win this fight decisively to silence any doubts about whether he can really beat Malignaggi. Malignaggi has to win to prove that he really is better than Diaz and that all the fuss he made about the first fight was for good reason.

The fight is scheduled for twelve rounds and will be televised by HBO under their HBO: Boxing After Dark program.

In an exciting co-feature, Victor Ortiz (24-2-1, 19 KO’s) of Oxnard, California takes on Antonio Diaz (46-5-1, 29 KO’s) of Coachella, California in a scheduled ten rounder at welterweight. The 22 year old Ortiz is coming off a sixth round stoppage loss against Marcos Maidana.
It was a brutal war with Ortiz dropping Maidana three times, but he himself was dropped twice. The fight was stopped on a cut over Ortiz’s eye, but in truth the fight was stopped because Ortiz refused to continue. After the fight, Ortiz suggested that he might consider retirement. He is back however and claims that the post-fight interview was clouded by his depression over his defeat. He hopes to redeem himself by defeating Diaz.
Diaz for his part has been in the fight game for quite some time. A professional since 1995, Diaz has fought some of the best including Antonio Margarito, Mickey Ward, and Shane Mosley. After taking an extended hiatus in 2005, Diaz returned in 2008 and has won four straight including most recently, a decision win over then 19-1 Javier Castro. A win over Ortiz will propel Diaz back onto the world stage and perhaps put him in line for a title eliminator.
Many questions are still left about Ortiz’s heart, but we will be sure to find out on Saturday. The co-feature will also be televised by HBO.
