Obama On Michael Jackson, 'Greatest Of Any Generation, Including Elvis, Sinatra & The Beatles'

HENRY: Last question. Millions of people around the world are about to watch the funeral of Michael Jackson back in the United States. What do you think his legacy is going to be?
OBAMA: Well you know, he, I do not think there was any doubt, he was one of the greatest entertainers of our generation, perhaps any generation. I think like Elvis, like Sinatra, like The Beatles he became a core part of our culture. You know, his extraordinary talent and his music was matched with a big dose of tragedy and difficulty in his private life and I don't think we can ignore that. But it's important for us to affirm what was the best of him and that was captured by his music, music that Michelle and I listened to from the time we were little kids. I remember listening to ABC when I was eight or nine or ten and he kept on producing extraordinary music for years after that.

UPDATE: President Obama Writes Personal Letter Of Condolences For Michael Jackson To Family
Source Link HERE
Barack Obama has sent a letter of condolence to Michael Jackson’s family. The Obama Michael Jackson letter is discussed in the video below.
Obama took 11 days to respond to the Iranian protests, bloodshed and cries of the people there for freedom. It took him five days to make a decision to allow our military to rescue a captive boat captain from Somalian pirates. He has sent letters of reprimand to the leader of North Korea for defying U.N. sanctions and threatening to nuke the United States. But he’s also reassured them that we won’t do anything about it if we find that they are carrying nukes around in their ships. However, it seems that when he received some criticism from Michael Jackson fans for not giving a formal acknowledgment of the singer’s death, he responded quickly with a letter to the Jackson family offering his condolences.
Its all about priorities, I suppose.
It was discussed on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday. Obama senior advisor David Axelrod said that the president had written a letter to the family to share his feelings. Axelrod also said that Obama was prepared to recognize Jackson when he met with the press last Friday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Shockingly, no one asked him a question about Jackson’s death, so the subject didn’t come up in the Merkel - Obama press conference.
It is commendable that the Obama White House resisted making a formal comment until Friday afternoon when brief comments were made during the daily briefing by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. At least they tried to keep a bit of decorum about the whole situation and maintain a semblance of separation of entertainment and state.
Axelrod said that Obama views Jackson as an important and spectacular performer who led a sad and tragic life. The letter hasn’t been released to the public.
Below is a video of Axelrod on ‘Meet the Press’ discussing the Obama, Michael Jackson letter.

Reagan Showed More Respect To Michael Jackson When Burned Than Obama Did In His Death

A letter from Ronald Reagan to Michael Jackson, dated February 1, 1984, five days after the singer’s hair was set afire by pyrotechnics during the filming of a Pepsi commercial. The letter was among belongings Jackson offered for sale at auction in April in an attempt to pay off an estimated $24 million in debts, including legal fees incurred during his trial for child molestation. The auction was canceled after Jackson’s representatives claimed that some of the items for sale were “irreplaceable.”
Dear Michael,
I was pleased to learn that you were not seriously hurt in your recent accident. I know from experience that these things can happen on the set—no matter how much caution is exercised. All over America, millions of people look up to you as an example. Your deep faith in God and adherence to traditional values are an inspiration to all of us, especially young people searching for something real to believe in. You’ve gained quite a number of fans along the road since “I Want You Back,” and Nancy and I are among them. Keep up the good work, Michael. We’re very happy for you.
Sincerely,
Ronald Reagan
Compare that respect to Obama's unofficial, meandering, 3rd party, 2nd hand hearsay, conflicted qualified compliments ( ..."but") and condolences to Michael Jackson's family and fans (minus a 'Rest in Peace' or even expression of sympathy for Michael Jackson, himself). As follows...
Obama's my dude and all, but he's a straight bitch for this.
WTF? Even President BUSH gave mad love to James Brown (ALL things considered) with an official, personally dictated, White House statement. President Obama has NO excuse for disrespecting Michael Jackson! Bush could give a fuck what James Brown did or who would have said what about him paying official respect to the "God Father of Soul". Just further proof Obama may have twice the brains, but half the guts that Bush did.

Even Bush Sr showed love to Michael Jackson.
