Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

Maybe he could cast himself as Jason..be flopping trying to fake out potential victims :roflmao2:

I'm so sick of this black Americans versus Black British motherfuckers shit.

Here in America there are not a lot of opportunities for black people to devote their lives to plays and take care of themselves. From what I hear, in the UK there are a lot More opportunities for black actors to hone their skills in plays and it's also possible that they have more supportive family members who don't look to kick them out as soon as they hit 18 (something that is very common here in America).

We're all black. Now, when they start casting Colin Farrell to play Malcolm X, then I want to hear all the uproar, but nobody said a word when Idris Elba played stringer bell.

This is a pointless argument, and y'all need to stop. Stop with the black American versus Black British. Both people audition for roles and the best person they thought was qualified got the role. Most people never even knew Wunmi Mosaku was British with Nigerian ancestry.

Again, say something when they cast Leonardo DiCaprio as Martin Luther King Jr, but as long as they cast someone black I don't care. Did you care when they had dark skin Chadwick Bozeman playing thurgood Marshall? No? Why not? Exactly, because he was black. End of story
KingTaharqa is a mixed breed agent.

Thread was going fine, until @keone and @mcgyver came in trolling unprovoked while I was discussing the movie with another poster. They started it. :dunno:

I think it's appropriate immigrants disrespecting a Black American in a thread about a Black American movie. It's why most of us don't care to see them portraying us on the screen. They're different people with different experiences.

Naw dickhead, you came in talking about who's black and who aint in the movie.

HNIC is white and you post on his message board several times a day CAC lover.

You prolly can't even speak your people's language and are unfamiliar with their customs. Being in captivity for so long around Euros, you're just a white American now, you've lost all your Africaness.

Wait ......what?

What y'all beefing about?

See my post about Miss smollett
Smollett would have been perfect. Ruth Negga would have been perfect.
Hollywood is politics. Coogler understands that your movie gets love when Jews are in it. Movies are full of compromises. It was a small one to make to end up with Sinners, IMO. Hailee wasn't bad but there were better people for the role. It happens. She did fine and played her part.

Well, on viewing number four I realize that Smoke didn't know how to roll cigarettes. His brother always rolled them for him. At the end, when he tried to roll his own cigarette I don't know if it was because he was rattled or distraught, but he could not roll the cigarette and eventually gave up. Later on in the same scene he asked the KKK guy for a cigarette

If this is true, the irony of being named Smoke because you couldn't roll your own cigarettes, like a fat guy being nicknamed Slim

Funny shit: I mistakingly saw that there was a 70 mm Ultra panavision theater in Columbus, so after work today I drove 90 minutes to Columbus to see the movie only to find out that it was a regular showing that I could have just driven 5 minutes to.

Ain't that a bitch.

Journee Smollett gorgeous ass would have been perfect for this role, but I understand why Hailee Steinfeld got the role and she wasn't bad at it at all. I just like... I'm just in love with journee Smollett pretty Little self

I like Jurnee Smollett, but Hailee Steinfeld was perfect for the role because her "real life ancestry" was a true reflection of the character she played, Mary.

Jurnee would not have been a good fit because when you and most people look at Jurnee you see a black woman and the whole point of her going out to talk to Remmick was to make him feel comfortable and assume he was talking to another white person like himself.

her kid was at home and the vampires said they were going to get her
Sacrifice the group for her kid.....

The video says "While Hailee wasn't able to to her him {grandfather} about the movie..."

Yeah, because her grandfather is DEAD, and she's never met him....lol.

The AMC Lincoln Square 13 theater is located between 67th & 68th Street and Broadway in Manhattan.

Today is Wednesday, April 23, 2025 and there is an 11:00 PM showing of "Sinners."

There are only 14 seats...

Remaining (and this theater is huge)!
Not only could he not roll a blunt, he was also shaking after his brother’s death. He wasn't the “rock” as advertised.

Coogler has spoken about this in a couple interviews that I've seen. It's not that Smoke didn't know how, he couldn't roll because of his tremor. PTSD from World War One. I'd link the youtube vid but I've watched so many interviews of this press tour that I can't remember which channel it was lol. But it was an interesting breakdown of the thought process behind that intro scene of the twins. It may already be posted here somewhere...
