First it was Biggie, then Jay-Z, then Nas, then Fabolous. Sorry but 50 is way too gimmicky. He has the street crew, sales, and success, but real hip hop niggas don't respect his rhymes...maybe his content though.

Nas and 50 both from Queens. But Nas is the "king"/ top dog of NY, right now. Who's entertaining a Troy Ave?:(

None of them. this is the age of attention whoring. And 50 Cent stay on that shit. Face it, the "kings" of old had style, mystic, gimmick, trend something that distanced them from the competition. I mean, in this period of twitter, which one of those dudes would you follow?

They're boring. Just cookies in the oven. Go burn a batch. Nothing sets them apart. And they don't even try. If one of those dudes could rock an instrument on stage. They'd skyrocket. Or do another genre on the side. Or got their production from overseas. something! There's nothing fly about today's artists. Nothing makes me want to stop what I'm doing to listen much less find their music and that takes a second. What does that tell you?

I'm a Cali nigga so maybe I have no grounds to say who. But as a listener I would say none of them. None of them seem have that respect or carry that air of superiority, power and notoriety to hold such a title. When I think Brooklyn I don't think about none of these niggas. None of them make me feel like they just put Brooklyn on the map when they rap, they just another nigga from Brooklyn who raps. I dont feel like the industry is clamoring to work with these guys. They dont make that kinda noise to me, not even Fab, he's just...around. I'm kinda mad Maino was the first on this list like WTF!? When you gotta list that nigga as a contended to the crown then something aint right and the throne should remain vacated then let him ever have a seat on the throne.

If I had to choose, by default I suppose Fab should get it he's the next best successor.
