Last night’s sixth and final game of the 2019 NBA finals ended in a historic victory for the Toronto Raptors.
The Canadian team became the first from outside the United States to claim the title, beating the defending champion Golden State Warriors 114-110 in a tense game.
In terms of the ratings, Game 6 on ABC was down slightly on Game 5 in the overnight household rating in metered markets. Last night’s game came in at a 13.2, as opposed to the 13.4 managed by the previous encounter.
With a preliminary Live+Same Day rating of 4.9, the 2019 season ender was down 6% on Game 5, and finished as the second highest rated game of the series. Game 1 scored a 3.9, Game 2 a 3.8, and Game 3 a 3.7. Last night’s total viewership figure of 13.9 million viewers was also down slightly (3%) on the penultimate game, which was watched by 14.3 million total viewers.
Overall, the 2019 finals were on on the lower end of the ratings in comparison with the Warriors-Cavaliers duals of the past four seasons. The below average numbers were likely due to in part to the fact LeBron James did not take part, and in part to the fact one of the two teams was from north of the border.
Elsewhere on Thursday, the series finales of “Abby’s” and “A.P. Bio” were swept aside by the NBA juggernaut. The former only managed a 0.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 1.25 million viewers, while the latter didn’t fare much better with a 0.3 rating and 1.4 million total viewers. That “A.P. Bio” rating is the lowest the show achieved throughout its two-season run.

I never understood the idea that Wade showed LeBron how to win.
Wade doesn't get enough props for how he handled that. He's an all-time great on his own and was still in his prime when Lebron got there and he understood that they couldn't win unless Lebron was the alpha dog. The first year Lebron was trying to be too much of a team player. He didn't know how to handle the situation against the Mavs. He was deferring too much. He felt like he came to Wade's team and was often planting in the corner watching Wade down the stretch. I remember Wade was yelling at him in game 6 about it. Wade specifically said he told Lebron that this was Lebron's team now (after the loss to the Mavs) and that's when they made the leap. He didn't teach Lebron how to win, but he definitely helped him make the final leap.
Those two years they won was some of the best basketball I've seen two guys play together. They were wrecking shop on both ends of the court.
Truthfully, I don't get into that best player in the world shit.
I love skilled players doing their best.

There is no player that has gone to two different teams and has been to 8 straight finals. That same player gets diminished in favor of the player of the month.

People talk about shooters around Lebron, but Golden State could have used some outside of KD and Klay. I was thinking during the series that Nick Young would be of more use than McKinnie.
