NBA ratings are down 48% since 2012. Down 28% this year alone on ESPN. Every other sports league is setting ratings records.

If they want to solve the nba problem then all they need to do is get rid of this salary cap bullshit!! Get rid of these idiotic restrictions on teams and players!!! That would force teams that can’t pay players like the rich teams to have better scouting and development programs to compete! That would force teams to be innovative to compete. Force teams to actually hire competent coaches to compete. These front offices are lazy and don’t know what they are doing. Stop putting it all on the players. Now the market would dictate what players are paid what! Stop pacifying these players. If you don’t develop well you don’t get paid. If these teams have poor infrastructure then the players leave. These teams in the nva get guaranteed money from these deals no matter what product they put on the floor!! Imagine running a business and no matter what fuck ups you do; you know you getting 100-200 plus million every year no matter what!!! That’s the real problem…

I agree with all this

But I don't think there is real NBA PROBLEM

Football also was 1 of the few leagues where a team could be shit one yr and than be competitive the next yr, or you could be great 1 yr and be garbage the next.. the unpredictable factor of who could win a chip also was a big factor. Outside of the pats diff teams were winning during a 30 yr span . Prior to chiefs winning chips they were either an early playoff loser or not making it at all.. NFL had that competitive side.. there's tons of stars on diff teams.. look at how the lions were loser for yrs to now are Superbowl contenders.. this why NFL gets it props.. NFL fans get tired of certain B's things like favoritism calls for chiefs.. football has its negatives but at the end it's way more entertaining to NBA.. that's what it comes down to
thats because of injuries; thats it; no one cares about parity in baseball or basketball and again that is not what drives ratings!!!! people want to see the best players on the best teams in the best markets; i posted a article by forbes that highlights this; again RATINGS ARE A FARCE!!! and the 2 main factors that fuel NFL ratings are #1 GAMBLING, #2 the amount of games!!! thats it!! has zero to do with product...

You can gamble on NBA games there's more games which means there's more money to make.. you have more options to make money betting on the NBA. So if gambling fueled sports things like NBA which is 82 games or baseball which has 162 games.. the more games, the longer the season, the more money you can make.. so saying NFL viewership is only fueled by gambling is the dumbest thing ever.. like I said I know more people that gamble on bball than football... It's mad stats you can bet on for each team in bball... Points, rebs, assists, steals, blocks, shot attempts, 3 pointers, etc.. you can make hundreds to thousands of dollars just betting on the starting 5

Bro the NFL is the most betted sport in America!! and its because of the amount of games played and most are played on 1day sunday; you got monday night also; and they added xmas this year; thursday was just for thanksgiving but then they added thursday night games!! this conversation stems from the ratings article; yes you can bet NBA but bettors want simplicity; and the NFL gives them that more than any other sport in america...

What's more simpler than picking points, rebs, assist? 5 players is pretty easy and well throw in the other 5 players on the other team and now you have 10 players where you have 30 different possibilities... I don't watch NBA no more but I literally bump into people around my way that makes 10s of thousands of the NBA.. they literally be like oh tonight I bet brunson was gonna get me 25 and 5 and such a such player was gonna give me 10 rebs.. nigs will make hundreds each nite.. if you are an NBA fan this shit should be easy to get this money . Which means more people should be betting on the NBA.. the fact they aren't seems to be something wrong with the product.. 82 opportunities sounds better than 17.. 82 games>>>>> 17 games... Everyday>>>> 3 nights a week

Estimated $35 billion expected to be bet on NFL this season

Betting on the NFL is set to reach new heights this season with an estimated $35 billion potentially wagered on the most popular league at U.S. sportsbooks, according to the American Gaming Association.
The American Gaming Association says the $35 billion estimate is a roughly 30% increase from the amount bet on the NFL last year and is based on data released by some states on the amount wagered on pro football. The Colorado Division of Gaming, for example, reported $890.3 million was bet on "pro American football" in the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
Three states -- Maine, North Carolina and Vermont -- have launched legal online betting markets since last NFL season. Overall, 38 states and the District of Columbia have legal betting markets entering the NFL season.

Bookmakers say, on a per-game basis, more bets are placed and more money is wagered on the NFL than on any other league. The NFL also attracts the largest bets, with six- and seven-figure bets reported nearly weekly by U.S. sportsbooks.
"The NFL typically yields the largest bets due to not only the popularity of the league, but also the schedule," Johnny Avello, sportsbook director for DraftKings, told ESPN in an email. "Standalone games tend to attract more sizable bets, and the NFL has more isolated games in the regular season than any other league. This creates a lot of excitement and draws plenty of notable bets."
The pregame point spread remains the most popular betting option on the NFL, along with the money line (odds on winning the game) and over/under total, according to sportsbooks. Christian Cipollini, trading manager for BetMGM sportsbooks, said the point spread, money line and over/under total account for approximately 50% of bets on an NFL game, with prop bets, both team and player, along with alternate markets accounting for the other 50%. Cipollini estimates that "60-65%" of NFL bets are made before kickoff but added that "Live betting is growing."
The odds to win the Super Bowl attract more betting interest annually than any other league championships. BetMGM said that it has taken twice as many bets on the winner of this year's Super Bowl as it has on the World Series. DraftKings also said the Super Bowl leads the way in terms of betting interest.
"This is a testament to the NFL's popularity, and ability keep fans and bettors engaged all year round," Avello said.
The NFL season kicks off Thursday, with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens.

its the schedule that fuels gambling ratings; its not the fucking product ever; the NFL doesnt even have 5 good kickers in it lol; offensive linemen hold every fucking play because they cant block; it aint more than maybe 10 good qbs in the league lol; refs are awful!!! mofos cant and dont know how to tackle; teams cant score!! special teams is all but eliminate because of these dumb rules; shit is terrible on the field; and fans complain about it all the time; but it doesnt matter and ratings are good; whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy because of fucking GAMBLING!!!!!!!!!!

If all these players are limited and horrible wouldn't be harder or less likely to bet on them? Why would bet on something inconsistent as you say.. I've literally won several bets on football cause certain things were easily predictable.. only thing that tends to fuck NFL is injuries.. just remember a person bet 3 million last week and made 470,000 cause certain things were predictable.. even the predictable wasn't a blowout and a good game to watch

The biggest reason is the NBA is a black-dominated league and we are so divided by race now that cacs pretend baseball is boring as FUCK. The plethora of black QB’s will have cacs running from the NFL soon. Once Travis Kelce got a white girlfriend that skewed black half of America turned on the NFL. This shit is race before anything. Lastly, much like Hollywood, people are staying around too long. Chris Paul & Lebron almost total 80 years of age. Most of these 6’11 dudes are brittle, from Khawi to AD, these ninjas sit more than they play. Who wanna watch ninjas who draw their hairlines one and dye their beards still hooping? Ben Simmons and Embeed are always hurts. Zion is brittle! The league is too old and too black and America doesn’t like it anymore.

good game bad game doesnt matter; the NFL product is shitty overall just like all the American sport product; hell the NFL own players think the league is shitty :giggle: Tom Brady Troy Aikman Randy Moss etc etc etc they all think the NFL product is not good; Bill Belicheat said it also; the game is not great; but none of this matter because people watch; and they watch because of gambling !!!

i say its much to do about nothing. football got 5-6 national broadcast stations.....basketball 2 . i'll watch every game on tv cause me being in alabama my teams ....okc and boston at least be on national broadcast steadily. you'd think nba tv would have games everyday but noooo, nope nada. then it sucks when it be a regional team....for me the pelicans and hawks, the shits blacked out....lol.
i do think there's a gap in the next generation of supestars. the generation on the way out... moved around too much....us basketball fans know who they are but the casual fans need them to stay on one team so they can have someone to love and hate.

Entertained by us but they don’t like making us rich enough to live next to them. Hence the Jews being salty about Kanye’s sneakers killing the game more than their shit. Or Lebron being a billionaire. Cacs know soccer, hockey and Baseball as boring as fuck. But those are sports where they can keep us in check.

exactly....
Every year seems like they focus on NBA ratings. Hockey and MLB are trash af and have embarrassingly low ass ratings. When it's world series time they always talk about how their ratings are horrible. Not even gonna talk about the NHL. NBA is clearly second behind the NFL and it's been like that for a few decades now so that's perfectly fine cuz no one is gonna dethrone the NFL fuck no. NBA is still getting record breaking Tv deals and MLB is still paying record breaking contracts to players. Shit is fine the way it is, none of these leagues are folding. But they always talk shit about the NBA cuz its a gang of niggaz that make up 95% of the league.

NFL is on 3 times a week Sun, Monday and Thursday.
And its about 4 times a week
Football dominates America
If you add college which at this point is pro football. Saturday-Monday football dominates sports and then again on Thursday.

The excitement with football starts at high school level and because you can watch players grow through Highschool- Pros it just continues. Eventually when the influx of foreign born players dominate the NFL the ratings will drop there as well

When I talk about once a week I'm saying your favorite team is on once a week. If you miss that week you miss your team.

so basically since steph made the league all about 3s and everyone followed suit, not realizing people don't want to just see 3s and layups.

He was able to pull it off because he was being pit against a dark skin Black man. Seeing the "brute" lose was more important than the future of the game. Everything we see today was celebrated and cheered on in the 2010's.

"Long as LeBron loses and I can tell nigga jokes about it, I don't care" was the mantra.

I remember playing rec league in middle school. Back then a j was midrange and I was money from 15-18ft. I remember 1 game I had an open lane and I opted for a midrange J... That I hit!!! Going back down the court all I heard was "That was a bad shot!!! I dont care if you made it, take that inside!!!" That was like 95-96 and that mentality don't exist no more.

My basketball coach said that 3 point shots are shots you can get at any time. They are always available, but they are shot at a lower percentage.

You must work to get higher percentage shots, such as layups and dunks, and if they aren't available, then the mid-range.

The league was heading in that direction before Steph. D'Antoni had already established the style of play for the future of NBA teams.

It was a fun style to watch. Run and gun and what we used to call it. But everyone knew no team could win that way.

It wasn't until that style started winning championships that it began to get out of control. Teams weren't trying to counter the style when GS was in its prime. They tried to mimick it.

It wasn’t about just shooting 3s though, it was mainly keeping up the pace or upping the pace to get more shots than the other team. The more shots could be 2s or 3s.

These mfs today, will pass up open layups for 3s all day…bs basketball

Yeah, I’ve seen it too many times.

3 on 1 fast break and the wings would float to the three point line instead of running lanes to the basket. It’s a shame to watch.
