I dont think one has anything to do with the other.

Thats like saying krogers will stop selling Jif because theyre also gonna sell Peter Pan.
He may be suggesting that he thinks Netflix can get away with cutting the marvel shows because they can make their own. Something Kroger's and all top retailers try to do through "private levels" with varying success.

I hope it backfires tough.

Exactly.. I thought that was pretty clear..

In fact that's what they even said.. they want to focus on produces that they produce and have control over the property.

It's also why we are about to get a shit ton of Mark Millar shit cause Netflix purchased the Millar-verse.

No grocery chain has ever tried to stop selling other brands in order to sell their own.

They try to make all the money by offering variety.

In this case netflix does not own Millars property any more than they owned Marvels property.

Netflix was diversifying when it bought Millars production rights, not homogenizing its products.

This is completely different... Netflix Purchased All of Millarworld

Netflix buys Scots comic book firm Millarworld

A Scottish comic book company has been bought by streaming giant Netflix.

Millarworld, founded by Mark Millar from Coatbridge, includes his portfolio of characters and stories such as Kick-Ass, Kingsman, and Old Man Logan.

Mr Millar said he was still "blinking" over the news.

He said it was only the third time a comic book purchase on this scale had ever happened, with Warner Bros buying DC Comics in 1968, and Disney buying Marvel in 2009.

Mr Millar, who lives in Glasgow, started Millarworld as a creator-owned comic-book company nearly 15 years ago.

He runs the company with his wife Lucy Millar.

It is the first ever company acquisition in Netflix's history. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Mr Millar said: "I'm so in love with what Netflix is doing and excited by their plans.

"Netflix is the future and Millarworld couldn't have a better home."

'Next generation'

Netflix said the acquisition was a natural progression in the company's effort to work directly with prolific and skilled creators and to acquire intellectual property and ownership of stories.

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said Mr Millar was "as close as you can get to a modern day Stan Lee" - the co-creator of Spider-Man and other Marvel characters.

He said: "Mark has created a next-generation comics universe, full of indelible characters living in situations people around the world can identify easily with.

To say this is the best thing that ever happened in our professional lives would be an understatement
Mark Millar
"We look forward to creating new Netflix Originals from several existing franchises as well as new super-hero, anti-hero, fantasy, sci-fi and horror stories Mark and his team will continue to create and publish."

Netflix and Mr Millar will bring Millarworld's portfolio to life through films, series and kids' shows available exclusively to Netflix members globally.

Millarworld is to continue to create and publish new stories and character franchises under the Netflix label.

Mr Millar previously worked at Marvel for eight years where he developed the comic books and story arcs that inspired the first Avengers movie, Captain America: Civil War, and Logan (Wolverine).

In a statement on his website he said: "Over the years, Millarworld has amassed 20 different franchises working with the world's greatest artists and now Millarworld has been bought by the hottest, most exciting entertainment company on the planet.

"To say this is the best thing that ever happened in our professional lives would be an understatement."

Netflix is the world's leading Internet entertainment platform with 104 million members in more than 190 countries.

This was Netflix's attempt to match Warner Bros and Disney..

This is basically no different then when Disney purchased Marvel. Now Netflix can make a series like Kick-Ass and have complete control. Which is what they didn't have under the Marvel deals.. Plus it allows them to maintain exclusive rights over these products. They purchased Millarworld cause they knew Disney was coming out with a streaming service and would provide counter Marvel programming...

Since these shows are connected in the same universe... If Netflix continued to produce Marvel shows...... People could be inclined to go to the Competitor Disney streaming service to see any connections..

I mean people are going to go to Disney's streaming service anyway... but at least Netflix can now start up their own Superhero franchises to get people to stick around even after Disney launches. It is a smart move on their part.

I worked for Costco for years. They were/are notorious for introducing a product, making it sell, then cancelling it after negotiating to have the manufacturer make it a Kirkland product. As a consumer I know Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Sam's Club do the same.

In the tech world it's even more common. Instead of paying a vendor that provides an essential service, buy them or their competition and own and control it.

But they didnt stop selling other brands of the same product.

No retailer does that.

Definitely not kiddie shit...unless they change it ALL THE WAY UP from the comics. One member of the squad is a kid who is a killing machine. He's actually an adult but he didn't age like the rest of the family.
thank you for adding more info on it... I might actually watch another series outside of cobra Kai now
