Banning this offensive word seems like a stretch as many are unaware of its use as a Black racial slur/putdown. One would think that there are far more offensive words e.g. "coon -- N-word" etc etc bandied about in here slurring Black folx that would take priority. But any rule that encourages less name-calling -- fewer ad hominem attacks and more civil discourse -- I say: "AMEN!"

I'd like to petition for the ban of the slur "coon" or any other alterations of said word. That term ACTUALLY has roots in white supremacy and used as a slur by both white racist and black folks. It ACTUALLY has a history of oppression and bigotry and literal violence behind it. This word that shall not be spoken, is for all intents and purposes, a recent slang term use as a descriptive. Positive or negative. Personally I believe its a less offensive descriptor than like "anchor baby" The term "coon" has no other context outside of a derogatory racist insult, and is used far more often than "t*ther".
