Three The Hard Way meets Get Out.
We've seen this type of story before
[Spoiler alert] Literally. One of their conspiracies is from undercover brother. Another comes from a Dick Gregory comment in a hidden colors documentary [/spoiler alert]
It borrowed from so many different movies and popular conspiracies halfway through I wondered if it was a spoof.
What I liked was the 'anytime but now' aesthetic. The clothes, cars, and technology are old, but it's hard to tell how old so it becomes timeless.
One thing that makes it different from most black movies is that you never see any of the main characters family members on screen. In fact, they don't even really seem to have friends. This might be the most disconnected main cast I've seen since 3rd Rock from the sun.
