I've been saying this for DECADES
The MTA entire model is a deliberately convoluted scam
It's a behometh of red tape that is LONG PAST time fir a complete restructuring
At MINIMUM the state and fed need to do a complete and total audit
But they NEVER will because too many skeletons would pop out and start dancing like the Thriller video.
Part of the issue is folks sued the mta and won
The court ordered the vents closed due to excessive noise
One of the biggest monopolies in ny that also has control over some infrastructure for whatever reason.. till this day nobody can explain how did this congestion pricing mysteriously become a way that only the Mta benefits? In fact how was the Mta able to push it and get total control of being the only entity that profits? No ny ever said we need a toll to split Manhattan and that all profits go to Mta.. not education, fixing low income housing, upgrading parks and other infrastructure, feed the homeless, etc..but all profits go to Mta and their projects
