}~~~> Official 2024/2025 NBA Thread<~~~{ the playoffs are here!!!

And what do you think vegas and polymarket odds are atleast partially based on you fucking idiot? They dont just arbitrarily pull them out they ass.. They use trends polling data and information sourced from voters.. You're an imbecile. When Welvin gets a top 3 finish id expect you to apologize if i thought you had even an inkling of credibility or integrity.

They use whatever will get them the most money. The Lakers have always had better odds than they should because of Vegas proximity to LA and the LA transplant fanbase there, in addition to the national media conversation.

It’s based more on the response to First Take than what actual insiders think. Football lines are not literally casinos predicting the Chiefs will win by 14, they adjust based on how money comes in and how developments impact what remaining money will come in. They are not polling voters or calculating who they think will actually win these awards.

Its all part of odds making. Dont confuse the goal with the process. The goal is to mitigate risk and imbalanced betting. They achieve that through various data points including fan leanings and voter tendencies. Its literally why lines change based on wages placed and voter feedback. Please stfu.

He could play for 20 more years and get a 100k
We'll still never forget 8 points
#neverforget

You don't have to forget. It's gonna be covered in the doc. The GOAT doesn't have to sanitize his career, that MJs thing because his legacy stats and individual production is weak. When you're LeBron and have all the accolades and respect, one game doesn't define you. Especially when you've won 2 MVPs and 4 titles since.

1. 9/11
2. Pearl Harbor
3. 2011 NBA finals

No, u didn’t mention Haslem and went directly to the Vets.
All of those guys were trash. You pointing out that i missed one furthers my point. Haslem was a bum but he was roster worthy that season. Just not logging starting minutes like he was. Howard, Bibby, Joel, House shoulda been at the local Y running pick up games. Chalmers was never NBA caliber PG.

House and Bibby never played again. Howard played 35 games total the next 2 seasons before retiring with 2 rings (thanks Bron!!!). Pat Riley has never been a good GM. Just got lucky Wade and Bron were close friends.

Kinda hard to fill out a roster when 3 guys Bloat the entire salary cap and expect below mid level guys to play a part.

Those 3 was suppose to suffice, and he came up short to a halfbreed, a midget and a nazi Jet.

I never said that played no factor, old fool.

You said "They dont just arbitrarily pull them out they ass.. They use trends polling data and information sourced from voters."

I know they aren't arbitrary. Of course they use public information. Lines change a lot more based on wages placed than "voter feedback"-- There are like 100 voters, they are not surveying all of these people for feedback or monitoring their podcasts. They care about the information that will shift opinion and that's how they make their money.

My main point was that it is foolish to assume that Draymond is likely to win DPOY based on being #1 on the Polymarket betting line. He is by far the most well-known, the only one of the faces of the league in contention. You hedged big time by responding I should apologize if he finishes top 3. I think most voters know he should be top 3 so that's an entirely different conversation. I am simply pointing out that one should not take betting lines as an indicator of where voters stand and I stand by that.

Imagine thinking 20 years from now people are still gonna be holding this beta VHS footage as the best all time.

No doubt. Expecting the GM to actually GM was unreasonable on Brons part. God forbid Pat actually draft, develop and sign players leading up to that free agency season, before or after.. Bron He literally had to do it all.

How is Joel Anthony better than Haslem at that time?
