The team did draft Kentucky QB Andre Woodson in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft, but he was waived during final cuts, signed to the practice squad and ultimately released in October of that year without ever playing a game for the team.
So while signing Russ and Jameis were great moves by a team in need of quarterback help, the signings also exposed the team’s poor history regarding Black QBs.

I would not go so hard after old ass Russ, nor would I want him to be a starter. Because he's not the same player he once was especially when not a lot of teams was bidding for his service and he went to a team who was desperate for a QB!
That's the problem, these teams who have nothing to offer and making mistakes for years through the draft thinking old ass QB's like russ and rodgers are the answers when they aren't.
There's younger more talented QB's in the NFL today that are making noise in the league.
@BlackGoku This is why when a franchise is built right from top to bottom along with the right coaches giving these young talented QB's a chance they could turnaround a franchise something of what Jayden Daniels did for the commanders. But you have to take a risk but some would rather get a older QB and hope for the best.
