Both.

I hate that bastard and i see IN him so many self hating Black people we have exposed to recently due to social media particularly

As over the top as he is?

I have honestly HEARD the same talk from damn POLITICIANS recently

And the little tiny germs of truth is what really hits you.

There is no right answers here.

Its kinda an accept it or not.

I REALLY hope we get a commeupance

A cathartic release after all these with Tobias

If not?

Then you are 100% right, its just an offensive waste.

We will have to see, but i understand if you aint staying on the ride till then.

And trust the way this show f*cked up Lala and the other mortuary chick name escapes me right now...

They far from perfect.

Fingers crossed.

Well, my opinion hasn't changed. There are plenty of broken characters with fucked up backgrounds and they don't run around denigrating their own people. Aside from the fact that we are the ONLY race that does that shit, it's just lazy writing. Those other characters do just fine projecting menace and shattered childhoods without all the name calling.
But what really turns my screws is the insults he's always throwing at other black people come straight from white people. How is that rhetoric helping IN ANY WAY? It doesn't move the story forward. It doesn't define the character because all we get are the slurs, no context behind them. A self-hating black man? How novel. And the exec producer is black and he lets this shit fly? I just don't get it. It's supposed to be an uplifting show for black people because the dynamic of the protagonist is that he's a black superhero and not a pimp or criminal.
I agree with your statement that somebody should have checked all that noise long ago. One of his henchmen or even BL himself should have schooled him on how destructive it is for black people to talk to each other that way.
I'll keep watching until it gets boring. I stopped watching The Gifted because it got boring. Arrow the same.

But BL has by far the hottest black chicks on TV so there's that. I just kind of close my ears when Whale starts that bullshit. It's only a matter of time before he starts throwing around the N-word. Then I'll probably be gone.

And to your point that several politicians are just about at his level of hate-speech, while that is true, they aren't black. There may be one or two outliers but they quickly get swamped by SM.

I don't count that mess...

social media to me is now being used like a child molester going to prison being "dealt" with.

Where is real proof of that?

We got coons talking coon all the time and they get check and go unchecked with abandon.

With NO real consequences.

but do think you raise yet ANOTHER great insight.

Will we EVER have a scene where someone DIRECTLY ATTACKS Tobias about his hate speech?

And WHAT will that person LOOK like?

Wouldn't be surprised if its Gambi that calls him a self hating bigot.

Yes, SM is like a fire hose with nobody holding it, just spraying all over the place. But, I was in reference to politicians specifically as you brought it up. We see how swift and deadly the SM consequences can be for them.

I tell ya bruh, it just goes against my core belief that as a people we won't get anywhere significant until we come together. And a major part of that is to stop tearing each other down using the white man's language and stereotypes.

You telling me The Gifted got good later in season 2? I bailed after one or two episodes. I can't stand that spoiled ass boy.

it feels like the story is not progressing. I'll keep watching, but i wouldnt call it a great show.

You know I actually thought the story was progressing. Kinda slow and choppy in spots but still progressing. What I didn't think was progressing was the characters. The mother continued to be a hand-wringing wreck, the father was confused, the boy was a hardheaded spoiled brat, the girl was the best of them, at least she had layers of a teenager. The muscle guy continued to be a muscle guy, sparky continued to be a hothead and on and on. Every week it was the same personalities in different perils. And I suppose that wouldn't be so bad but the characters themselves just aren't that compelling. Maybe it's the actors. Besides the girl they were all pretty bad. The black guy was unbelievable in his grief, the scar guy was laughable as a villain. idk just dull

That show is far from perfect and frustrating as hell

Cause the POTENTIAL is all there.

The actors are fine

The budget is too low for their ambitions

Bit there is ENOUGH there to really shine.

Let me tell you this... the brother playing Jace has done an acting class and his story arch has been phenomenal

Now they just need to pull up the rest of the show...

And they NEED to do a more with actual x-men or they gonna get cancelled

I understand, the detective Henderson told Jefferson not to be there with Khalil but still he should of gone anyways....especially, since he was valuable to the D.A.....

Mann this is frustrating like someone else said. Everything is in place to be good. They need to pick the pace up. Tobias and the women of the show is like the only thing keeping me watching at the moment. In 2 minutes cutter takes out a fleet of swat with a knife. I need to see how that went down, because alot of them looked as if their throats were silt. Tobias left painkiller alive still which is confusing too? Painkiller can still talk and tell everything. Idk where this season is going but they need to pick up pace.

1st glad the chase story arc is over cuz I was fed up with it.
2nd Tobias cold then a muthafucka, Sub Zero style with it:roflmao:

I hate that now EVERY time he goes into one of his "blackie" screeds my skin crawls.

but I still submit

it is SUPPOSED TO.

I admit Tobias pisses me off too. I guess he's doing his job.

Is Jace is the guy whose daughter was killed? And he is (was) the head of a mutant-hunting team? If so, I've seen him in other stuff and yeah, he's done better work. If I think about it, I've seen some of the other actors too so that leaves the direction as the problem. Or writing. It's something tho. The thing with ensemble pieces is that if the cast isn't likable or relatable the whole thing is gonna flop. SFX will only carry you so far. To me, there's just no one in the cast compelling enough to bring me back week after week.

Now, strangely enough, Cloak & Dagger is something I check for. It was slow going at first but it has some very interesting things going on. Admittedly the two leads aren't the greatest actors in the world, especially the dude, but then again, this ain't Shakespeare in the park. It just goes to show how disparate things have to come together to make a sustainable whole. I just look to all the classic (and longrunning) ensemble pieces, whether they be comedy, drama, SciFi or mystery and what made them so good.
I'm not saying any of these shows are classic, I'm just addressing what I think is missing to hold MY interest.

I agree with you that the potential was/is there for The Gifted. It really was. Maybe they need a stronger lead because the ones they have now are so wishy-washy.

Yeah he was Jason in The Game on BET.

He was also on burn notice

In fact the showrunner created burn notice

Ehat thatvdude is doing with jace in my opinion is one of the best descents into villiany ever on conic comic book tv

But your right

There is just something not CONNECTING on the show.

Im not invested

If i was not already a diehard x men fan?

I would not still be watching.
