I don't think ward is dead. What was the astronaut supposed to be?

He is (maybe not?)

The astronaut was Will and he died saving Gemma allowing her to return to Earth

it SEEMS like the creature can only inhabit DEAD bodies so for all intent and purposes Grant (one of the BEST TV villains since Gustavo Fring) is dead

But if you notice the creature has he ability to tap all of the emotions and memories of the host body so TECHNICALLY they could write it that Ward is STILL alive in some way shape or form

wouldn't be surprised if he fights over control of his mind and controls the creature in the end.

Funny how a few months ago people were calling for this show's cancellation...

wheadon wins again

I told ya'll the development of Ward was perhaps the best transition from hero to fully formed multidimensional villain since Breaking Bad.

The relationships on this show are incredible

every single one

I am VERY happy they didn't give Mockingbird her own series she is perfect where she is but the relationships are the heart of this show...

and the the ones that do it best succeed

The relationship of Fitz Simmons in just 2 seasons is damn Shakespearean level of heartbreak

They better NOT make Mac out to be the token THAT guy, he is better than that. He can be the moral compass heart and soul guy but ...just don't make him THAT guy.

Coulson has developed into as iconic a leader as Nick Fury himself

and ummm

Hail Hydra

F*ck it I'm quoting myself

cause it applies exactly to the mid season finale.

I was thinking the same thing Ward has some serious will power and if the creature can still tap into the"conscious" of its host then I can definitely see Ward taking it over. lol
I too have grown to like Mockingbird, when she went in to that other room leaving the "boys" standing there I was like damn she got that killer instinct love it. Hope they show more of that. I don't think that her own show would last very long though.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Is there actually still hope for SkyeWard?

You would think that after the reveal that former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent-turned-über bad guy Ward (Brett Dalton) was actually a member of Hydra, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most controversial ‘ship would be put to rest. But here we are in season 3 and the SkyeWard fans just can’t seem to let go.

Let’s just get this first part out of the way: “Now she’s not Skye and he’s not Ward,” executive producer Jed Whedon says with a laugh.

Since the first season, Skye (Chloe Bennet) found her real family, transformed into an Inhuman and discovered that her name is actually Daisy Johnson, otherwise known as the Marvel superhero Quake. Ward, on the other hand, fell deeper down the rabbit hole of darkness, culminating in the cold-blooded assassination of Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) new lady friend Rosalind Price (Constance Zimmer), which in turn led to Ward’s death at the (super) hand of Coulson. To top that off, Ward’s body is now being inhabited by a weird Inhuman slug thing.

Now can we put SkyeWard to rest? “He has changed, but just as we saw with Will, there was still some of Will left in him,” Whedon says. “They’re both altered humans at this point. I don’t know. I feel like the chances are greater than ever.”

Despite that slim glimmer of hope, Whedon still insists that Ward — or whatever is left of him — probably isn’t on the path to redemption. “While he’s done terrible things, you have to want to be forgiven to be forgiven,” Whedon says. “I don’t know if that’s something he wants. By the same token, our team, their hands are dirtier than they’ve ever been.”

“The thing that’s so fun to me is that people are still talking about it,” Whedon continues. “Some of his actions at the end of this first half of the season, I can’t imagine how people still think that he’s going to be redeemed, but the fact that they’re still talking about it, that makes me super happy. We are such fans of his character and of Brett’s portrayal of it. We love the debate. We can’t believe it’s still going.”

Considering Daisy, née Skye, played such a big role in Ward’s life, could his memories of her draw Bizarro-Ward in? “It could be, that’s a good theory,” Whedon says. “We know that Will’s memories lived on, so some of that could carry. As I’m sure you have guessed, it’s going to get complicated. Spoiler alert, it’s going to get complicated.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, March 8 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Fan Fridays: Is Grant Ward in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the Villainous Hive?

https://www.yahoo.com/movies/fan-fridays-grant-ward-agents-225544068.html

Ward is dead...sort of! Following the mid-season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Ward and Coulson had their final head to head, resulting in Phil finally taking the steps to put an end to Ward once and for all. With the death of his lady love Rosalind on Ward’s hands, Coulson decides to crush the villainous turn coat’s chest in with his robotic hand. All of this took place of course on the alien world explored throughout the third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which held the exiled Agent Simmons there for quite a while after the second season. Mysteries are still abounds however as we don’t quite know the origin of the planet itself, and more importantly, the origin of the nefarious creature possessing people there. Of course, we see in the mid-season finale that even though Ward is dead, the mysterious body snatcher lives on, jumping into Ward’s body and somehow managing to make his way to Earth. Fan Dorian Parks has brought the theory to our attention that this creature is in fact the Marvel villain, Hive.

Who is Hive you may be wondering? Hive was a genetic experiment created by Hydra, modified to carry the most “important” traits of the organization into a single being. Created by Jonathan Hickman, who recently finished his magnum opus with the epic Secret Wars crossover, the parasitic villain made his debut in the pages of Secret Warriors, who also debuted in this third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. coincidentally. Eventually, while Hive was given a seat at the table in the organization of Hydra, it eventually took possession of the recently deceased Lady Viper, creating a new entity to rule named, “Madame Hydra”. While obviously bits and pieces of the origin would need to be changed for this character to work in the television show, there’s still evidence pointing to this being the case.

First, when we see the creature in S.H.I.E.L.D. holding someone under its sway, it’s clear that something is going on under the surface, with worm like creatures slithering beneath the host’s skin. This of course is very similar to the ghastly appearance of Hive in the comics, though the worms are crawling everywhere in that case. Understandably, it may be a tad more difficult for the television show to translate a walking worm pile onto the screen.

Secondly, it’s clear that when Ward returns to Earth, he immediately knows to seek out Malek, the head of Hydra who sent him on the suicide mission in the first place. Hive retains bits and pieces of its host personality once it’s fully taken over, and it would make sense that a possessed Ward would heavily influence the parasite’s actions moving forward if the case.

Finally, the simple strong connection between Hive and Hydra is there, though its clear that in this re-telling of the origin, Hive is responsible for Hydra’s origin and not the other way around. Throughout season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Inhumans have been a heavy influence on the series, with the creature itself being revealed to be an Inhuman. While not the case in the comics, these sort of things are always par for the course, changing the character to fit the rules of its new outing. Hive being an Inhuman who created Hydra sounds like a great update for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I won’t hold it against the showrunners.

Maannnnn I can't wait for this shit to pop off in March.

What's interesting is how many incantations of Wards character have we seen?
1 we had the tough loner soldier all about the mission at hand.

2 we had him knocking off may while eying sky

3 ward loyal to garrick

4 ward in love with agent 13

5 ward taking over hydra to revenge the dead agent 13.

Now we have this combo hive/ward being. I look forward to how things develope because each version of Ward was better than the last

Natalia Cordova-Buckley has joined "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in the role of Elena Rodriguez, an Inhuman with super speed. ComicBook.comdescribes the character as "a street-wise Colombian woman" based on the character Slingshot from Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli's "Secret Warriors" run.

In the comics, the character also goes by the nickname Yo-Yo Rodriguez. Her ability allows her to run at superhuman speed, only to bounce back to the point where she began. She joined Daisy Johnson's Secret Warriors team after being recruited to Nick Fury's anti-Skrull task force.

Daisy's team already has two members: Lincoln, who generates electricity, and Joey, who can melt anything metal once he's in proximity to it. However, they didn't come together as a team until the season three midseason finale. Cordova-Buckley's casting may signal a more concentrated recruitment effort on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s part when the series returns.

A Mexican-born actress, Cordova-Buckley is known for her roles in "McFarland, USA," "Ella y el Candidato" and "Ventanas al mar."

Starring Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet and Ming-Na Wen, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return to ABC at 9 pm EST on Tuesday, March 8.

Man if Marvel studios had any real guts, they would make that black scientist in agent Carter into the Blue Marvel.... If done right, that could be the best superhero movie ever...
