people's attention spans are LONGER believe it or not. they're coming back we need to be challenged.
so the whole wrap it up in 42 minutes shit is DONE.
why do we talk about the bridge, breaking bad, game of thrones, etc etc so much? cause the way it ends it gives us a full week to still be involved make predictions and wait to see what happens and then repeat the process...
shit is wrapped up in 42 minutes, 2 days after that the show is an afterthought then we gotta reboot and find a reason to care about this particular episode again

they need to go after the teen and twenties and put easter eggs in the episodes for the 30 and up + comic head crowd.
just from my observation you need to build you a cult FIRST.
if you build a cult you'll make it.
look at shows like south land, and other shows that had a cult following and the demand became so high another network picked them up.
His name will get him a full shot at a full season. but look at the top show on the network scandal.. they built themselves a cult following FIRST. and then after that it blew up, and NOW it's sitting pretty and anticipated. but they built it from the ground up.
Hopefully that's what they're doing with this show but you gotta give people a reason to care. being who he is isn't enough for the casual fan. and being who he is isn't enough to guarantee there will be 5 seasons of this show.. especially in the beginning of shows its always now or never.. i mean how many of us liked last resort and they pulled the plug.. or the river and boom axed.. flash forward... then NOPE no mas..

how about we see the kids working on a way to stop him from blowing up and then from there he takes his boy to the aunts house vowing to return... he catches up with the hacker in the van. demands she erases his identity knocks out the agent and they leave.
go back to headquarters and they're working on finding out a way to stop him, the twins come up with it, the agent radios them and says the man came and took the hacker.. they get everything together, the twins say he only has 30 minutes before he blows up, then they track the van and it says they're heading to the train station... end of episode.

That's because the studio fucks don't think you will tune back in, or even remember the last episode. I mean, the first "Hero" was a black man, and I don't even remember his fucking name!?!? I only remember "Fitz-Simmons" cause of the stupid name, but I don't know which is which.

The shows setup and execution was terrible. Adventure Time has more depth and substance in 15 mins than what I saw on SHIELD. It's not like I expected fireworks but it was just poor performances from the actors and an even worse progression with the story. I mean, the Hispanic thugs outta nowhere were completely out of place and just as cliche and corny. Then that super punch and how they executed that...the show is just not gonna be what I hoped for at all.

wasnt joss saying from jump there would be more references to the films..?
im sure RDJ may show up at some point on the show,but not as iron man..theyll probably just have him appear at the beginning of the episode as tony stark on a viewscreen saying something like such and such people stole some blueprints for a new prototype armor he was working on,and he wants the agents to find them..then he appears again at the end personally congratulating them

The first episode was ok but if things don't improve I don't believe the show is going to last. I must admit was not thrilled to see that the cast was not more diverse. Watching the show I was really only interested in Agent Coulson and Michael Peterson character. The character Skye was boring and predictable and boring. i just don't really care about the characters. Maybe there will be more character development as the story continues but until then the show was just ok
What bothered me the most was the inconsistency in the dudes powers. One minute he couldn't feel Shit and in the next scene the shield agent kicked him in the leg and it hurt. Another episode focusing on centipede and seeing him change slowly would have helped.

I feel like Joss had an opportunity to do whatever the hell he wanted and squandered it.
I remember when the President was elected and people expected him to change EVERYTHING in his first 100 days.
I feel like unlike Obama - Joss REALLY could have done whatever he wanted in terms of tone, story, length and stuff.
I just finished watching the final season of Luther very recently and marveled at how in 4 hours they were able to create a film, a drama, a psychological thriller, a cop show/procedural and love story.
They told MORE story in 50 minutes then the Agents of Shield debut ep. which had a bigger budget both on screen and off and also had nearly the ENTIRE Marvel Universe to reference at its disposal.

name your top 5 sci fi shows..
and then think about how much cgi was actually in them?
now think about how good the story lines were?
just write a good consistent story with characters that make you like or dislike them.. throw in a couple of special effects, it doesn't have to be overkill and call it a day
