Out of curiosity, what huge logistical problems would've occurred had Obama implemented two days a week teleworking?

The point of my EXAMPLE, was to show that don demanded it and made it happen.

Obama could've demanded something similar and made it happen.

Just to be clear, I fully support people teleworking. Especially people with young kids.

There are definitely managers that are stuck in the 1980s and believe that if you're not in the office then you're not working.

As far as the logistical issues, the first issue is that Microsoft Teams wasn't available until two months after Obama left office so video conferencing would have been difficult if not impossible. Neither skype nor zoom support the levels of security required by some agencies.

The second thing is a lot (probably a majority) of federal employees were still using desktop computers, so they would have to get everyone laptops at a time when laptops were far less capable than they are now.

Use of personal devices wouldn't work for some agencies due to security concerns.

The VPNs they had at the time couldn't handle 2 million people at the same time.

Another issue is that not everything was electronic like it is now. A lot of forms and documents only existed in paper form and had to be filled out with an ink pen.

Most agencies won't bring employees back full time until late April or May. When they do, it'll be a clusterfuck, especially when it comes to available office space and parking. Trump is a ready, fire, aim guy whereas Obama would have thought of the pro and cons.

I'm not saying that Obama couldn't have done anything more in eight years, this one example just jumped out. Lol.
