Another legend gone. It's getting to the point where every time I log on here, the very first thing I'm wondering is who I'm going to learn has left us next.

She was always the prettiest one in the group to me. I got to hang with her a little bit about 10 years ago. She had that Diva edge about herself but she was fun. Enjoyed her brown liquor too.

The bitterness was mostly on Mary's side, no doubt as a result of jealousy over Diana's dominant role in the group and her success as a solo act.
Mary's bitterness ran deep, even to the point she would always refer to Diana as Diane (her real name). It has been speculated that Mary felt she was the prettiest member of the Supremes and should have been out front more. She may have been but she didn't have the singing chops to pull that off as evidenced by her flop at a solo career.

Mary just couldn't accept she was little more than a backup singer, a pretty one to be sure, but a backup singer nevertheless. Personally imo neither of them could a candle to Flo Ballard in the singing department. I'll admit my judgment may be influenced by the fact that Flo hung with the brothers sexually while Mary and Diana chose to dip frequently on the "other" side. All that said she had a great life and I'm sorry to hear of her passing.
