Transcripts detail plot to bomb Somali refugees in W. Kansas
bomb+plot+suspects.JPG

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) and KWCH Prosecutors say three men accused of conspiring to bomb a Kansas mosque and an apartment complex housing Somali refugees also discussed killing the refugees' white landlord because he rented to Muslims.
The allegations are included in new court filings ahead of a Wednesday hearing to determine if one of the men, Gavin Wright, should be freed pending his trial.

Wright and co-defendants Curtis Allen and Patrick Stein were arrested in October 2016. The three men face charges of conspiring to detonate truck bombs at the apartment complex where Somali immigrants live.

Wright's attorney says Wright wasn't aware that his co-defendants intended to actually carry out the attack and portrays him as a lonely man desperate to find friends after moving to Liberal in southwestern Kansas.

But prosecutors submitted transcripts of profanity-laden recordings of the men discussing their plans that paint a more damning picture of Wright.

The court filings say the group's plans for violent action "became more specific and more advanced."

The filings say during regular meetings in August and September 2016 at Wright's business the group, called the Crusaders, selected a target, purchased equipment and gathered chemicals and other materials to start making homemade explosives.

The filings say during interactions with an undercover FBI employee, Stein said the Crusaders planned to attack Muslims in southwest Kansas.

"Stein explained that the purpose of the attack was "to take them [the Muslims] out...,'" the court filings say.

The filings say FBI agents arrested Stein on Oct. 14, 2016, during a third meeting with the undercover FBI employee, "shortly after (Stein) delivered approximately 300 pounds of urea to the undercover employee for use in assembling an explosive device.

Wright was arrested later on the day of Oct. 14. Allen was already in custody, having been arrested three days earlier for domestic violence.

The court filings provide further insight into the case against Wright, Allen and Stein, including background information on anti-Muslim statements they're accused of making and the transcripts of conversations where they discussed plans to carry out the bomb plot

A British Army sergeant who longed to be with his Tinder lover tried to murder his wife by dismantling her parachute, causing her to plummet 4,000 feet to the ground, prosecutors charged.

Emile Cilliers’ wife Victoria survived the plunge in 2015, but broke her pelvis, ribs and vertebrae,The Guardianreported.

It was Emile’s second unsuccessful attempt at killing Victoria, 40.

The 37-year-old was quickly arrested and is on trial for murder.

A week earlier, Emile allegedly tried to kill his wife by loosening the valve to a gas pipe in their home, the court heard.

Prosecutors said that Emile was $30,000 in debt and would have received his wife’s $159,000 life insurance policy had his maneuver been successful.

Cilliers denied both counts of attempted murder, The Guardian reported.

While married to Victoria, Emile had started a relationship with Stefanie Goller, whom he had met through the dating app Tinder in 2014.

He was also allegedly still sleeping with his former wife, Carly Cilliers.

The court heard that Emile lied to Goller, saying that he had left Victoria and that he was not the father of the couple’s second child together.

“I will sacrifice and give up so much for you,” Emile told Goller.

“I’m not going to lose you. You have no idea how much you mean to me. I have a massive urge to be with you. I feel I need you more than ever. I mega adore you,” Emile said in another message to his Tinder date.

Emile left his home the night he loosened the gas pipe in the family’s kitchen, prosecutors said.

When Victoria smelled gas, she messaged her husband and jokingly said, “Are you trying to kill me?”

Victoria told Emile that she sent the playful message after she had read magazine stories of husbands killing their wives.

Prosecutors said that when Emile realized his wife was still alive, he hatched a backup plan.

“You want to go jump this weekend?” he said in a text.

A prosecutor said that Victoria’s reply made the whole situation even more sad.

“Would love to,” she wrote.

Responders to the scene said it was a miracle that Victoria survived the fall.

Two Florida mothers overdosed on heroin in a car on Thursday — with a pair of infants in the backseat.

Kristen Leigh O'Connor, 28, and 29-year-old June Schweinhart would tell cops in Boynton Beach that they met in a drug treatment program and bonded during their pregnancies.

O'Connor told investigators she picked up Schweinhart in the SUV and they bought $60 worth of heroin from her old drug dealer.

"For whatever reason, they decided yesterday to buy heroin and then snorted it while inside the car with their children," the Boynton Beach Police Department wrote on Facebook on Friday.

Young mom avoided drugs before her puzzling opioid overdose death

When one of the women began to overdose, the other one called 911 for help. But then she started convulsing, according to cops.

"Oh my God, oh my God," O'Connor said she heard Schweinhart say, according to the Palm Beach Post.

A judge ruled Friday that O'Connor can be with her child only when the baby's grandmother is present, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The babies were one-month and two-months old, respectively, the newspaper reported.

"We hope this serves as a wake-up call for these moms, and that they seek further treatment for their addiction," cops said.

Man Who Jumped on School Bus' Hood While Screaming at Driver Identified as Retired Teacher
byInside Edition5:28 PM EDT, October 9, 2017

A former teacher in Maryland has been arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and destruction of property after he jumped on the hood of a school bus when it began to move as he shouted at the driver

Leverne Doran, 68, who is retired, leapt onto the bus outside Baltimore last week after one of thestudentsinside the bus threw a Gatorade bottle at his car.

The driver repeatedly told Doran to "get off the bus" while he fired back, "Open the door!"

Children aboard the bus can be heard screaming as Doran slams his fist on the hood.

Susan Copenhaver, who had two grandkids on the bus, told Inside Edition that she was so upset about the incident that she posted the video on her Facebook page.

"The children were scared to death and most of the children ran to the back of the bus and got under the seats,” she said. “After the video, the bus driver had reached a traffic light, so the bus driver pulled up there and stopped and when he did, the gentleman came to the door and after three or four times he was able to wedge the door open and then he entered the bus and started yelling at the driver.”

Doran’s lawyer Steven Silverman spoke to Inside Edition’s Steve Fabian about the incident. Fabian asked him whether Doran should have known better.

“Actually, I think he did know better, that is the miscommunication right now between the criminal charges and what happened on the street,” he said. "It is not fair to brand Mr. Doran as anything but a responsible adult trying to do the right thing.”

Fortunately, no was injured and Doran stepped out of the bus. The children, however, were terrified.

"I’m sure that this frightening experience will stay with them for many years to come,” Copenhaver said.

The kid who threw the bottle was suspended from school for three days.
