Parents Pass/Fail: Lonzo Ball's dad, LaVar, fires back at Barkley who wants a 1 on 1

LaVar Ball, father of UCLA standout Lonzo Ball, continues to make headlines.
This time, LaVar--who recently said his son is better than Steph Curry -- is firing back at Charles Barkley, who criticized those comments.
Barkley told Sporting News on Monday, “I know you can be proud of your son, but at some point, it becomes stupidity.”
LaVar responded on Tuesday in an interview with Colin Cowherd.
LaVar has also said his son Lonzo will be the first player drafted and will only play for the Lakers, though, he softened his stance on the latter, saying he hopes he plays for the Lakers.
Barkley was asked about LaVar's comments later on Tuesday at a TNT/CBS NCAA Tournament media event in New York.
“I didn’t win a championship,” he told USA Today. “I don’t know what his basketball career was, but I’d put mine up against his.”
“His son’s life is his life, not yours,” he added. “No matter what he’s trying to accomplish, it’s not his. So I wish his son nothing but the best. His kid’s a heck of a player. But I don’t like when parents interject.”
Lonzo, a freshman, is averaging 14.9 points, 7.8 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game over 31 games for UCLA.

Those numbers are certainly worthy of consideration as a top draft pick, but it’s LaVar who may get in his son’s way of making that happen.

Fucked up thing is that there was nothing negative or any negativity attached to Lonzo until his dad started running his mouth over and over again. And now and next year he has to deal with this and the middle brother who'll be at UCLA is also going to have to deal with this. Dad has made his sons targets and subject to far more scrutiny than they would have to deal with otherwise.

Someone here on bgol said dude played in the NFL for a few years I believe.
Well he has not caused any issue with the UCLA program, and all the players think he is funny. I am a little worried for next year b/c Gelo just might not be that good compared to the players coming in and already there that will be playing at the spot he will be so his son not getting enough playing time may cause some issue and UCLA will most certainly lose out on LaMelo if that happens.
He didn't play in no NFL. He was a hooper. 2 years of Juco, 1 year of D1 (Washington State), then a final year of d2. If he was the nigga everyone thinks he is, he would have let his credentials be known a long time ago
Would UCLA? Between all of his kids committing to UCLA and him saying that Lonzo would only play for the Lakers it sounds like he's trying to keep all of them nearby. Besides it wouldn't be UCLA's fault that the middle kid is a 6'3 shooting guard who isn't a great ballhandler or overly athletic.
It's not about him, it's his kids that he speaks about and that's his only focus.
This will not stop Lonzo from going top 5. Also I think what makes his kids very good is he taught them how to be very confident. Lonzo shot not falling early does not impact the other parts of his game at all like you see with other players. He still gonna get his assist, rebounds, and play D. Also can't recall Lonzo having two bad halves kid usually comes out better after struggling early.
