The industry needs to integrate solar panels at charging stations, make them almost grid dependent. Although the 'electric' company self interest should be to increase revenue from boosting electric demand. The politicians that control the Public Utilities Commission (Governors) are getting bribes from the oil industry. So really the electric company is an oil company. They are going to limit projects that increase supply and engineer blackouts. As voters this needs to be a factor in picking a governor.

You get nonsense like this at a mall trying to scare potential EV customers away. I recommend that hydrogen and solar sell electricity back to the grid, since demand is low. As demand increases, they can divert this energy to charging EV. None of them do this and this is why there is no hydrogen refueling stations.

Recently got a Rivian RS. It was ordered and picked up within a week. I just received the wall charger today so I've been playing around with the different charging stations.

First, I was too use to unlimited free charging with my Tesla model S. In general, I found my self looking for the best prices which normally is between 11/12 to 5/6am.

My first test was the Rivian charger. I didn't look because I just remembered seeing a charger outside of the center when I picked up my Rivian. What i didn't notice was that those chargers were basically wall chargers that only provide around 8 odd KWs. That's what I get for trying to be cheap and use a free charger. Why didn't I use a Adventure Network Charger even with the fee? Because the closest one seems to be 68 miles away.

But you have a Tesla already and a home charger. I had to wait for the adapter to use the Tesla wall charger with the Rivian.

Actually, I lied BG&E offer level one chargers near me and i wanted to know what the price were, so i went there first. Even though it would make no sense to use it unless you had 8 plus hours to spare.

Using ChargPoint was a pain in the ass. Rivian has something where I thought Chargepoint was linked to my Rivian account. So, I assumed I could just plug in. Wrong I still had to download the app. Then I had to scan a QR code on the charger. Except for some strange reason I still had to confirm which charger i was using and of course I was picking the wrong one. It did finally work once I stopped with the human error.

Next i played around at a Tesla Supercharger on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the Rivian's charge port is in the front meaning i need to pull in head first. Except you take up two spaces doing that and there were no additional spots at the time. Not a problem i know there is another Supercharger 5 minutes from my current location and the short cable may not be an issue. Except that Supercharger isn't compatible with non-Tesla vehicles. Luckily, I checked the charger app before driving there. I decide to go shop first and then charge. I return and the process/software worked the same. I'm guessing because I put my Rivian details in my Tesla app the night before. The only main difference is I had to use an adapter to charge. I'm also hearing a third-party cable extender will be available possibly by summer. From my understanding, if you happen to have a Supercharger v4 near you, they have longer cables and built in adapters. This will make the process even simpler for non Tesla vehicles.

Also and rightfully so, Tesla charges more for non Tesla's to use the network. If you don't have home charging, you can pay $12 a month to get the same prices as Tesla owners. Actually, i believe all of the charges have similar monthly services.
My next test will be the Electrify America chargers.

The SUV itself is overall nice though. The software still has a few quirks, but nothing I'd really complain about. My only real complaint so far is having to climb in and out like a child. I've never cared about being short until getting this shit. Luckily, this was really for my girl.
