I got to these stores because they're the closest. Everywhere else is about a 20 min drive.

  1. Walmart - One stop shop. Usually has the best prices.
  2. Harris Teeter - Good for hard to find items. Pricey but quality is high.
  3. Giant - Close to work, convenient.
  4. Wegmans - When I'm trying to splurge and get something special.

These are the most common ones for me in the Mid-Atlantic as well…only one I’ll add is ALDIs when really trying to save money.

Well.

3 Walmarts in the Atlanta area have been hit by arson.

MLK and Howell Mill are closed indefinitely and may never reopen.

Definitely not going out of my way to save a few pennies so Walmart may be off my shopping list.

So they burn the individual store down to get rid of the "internally centrally server stored purchases of a cell phone"?

This dude can't be that smart.

Naw I don't think they were responsible for the arson. I think that's some sort of social media challenge.

But the arson uncovered their little theft ring.

Aldis has a 100% satisfaction purchase though bro. You can take it back even if it's been months.
Didn't know that. Sometimes the juice ain't worth the squeeze though. Ain't too many people gonna get a whopper to go and drive all the way back to the restaurant because they forgot to put cheese on it. That's how I felt about Aldi. They got me that one time. I just don't fuck with them anymore.

I gather that they decided not to reopen Howell Mill due to theft. "Economic conditions". I bet the Mayor made a deal with them to keep one of the two open for the people and they chose the least expensive to operate.

What you're seeing is the breakdown of our civilization. Sprinkler Water and smoke damage probably ruined most merchandise in the store, all for someone to steal a cartful of stuff. How can it make business sense to keep reopening if this continues?

They have insurance to cover time they are out of operation but at some point can they even get a policy? Months out of operation because of one thief. And no guarantee they ever reopen.

Stores gonna be gone. Have to order online, but then thefts and home break ins will go up.

Looks like rising theft, fraud, and arson to commit theft are closing stores across the nation.

As I stated in post #192, they are directing those affected by store closures to use Walmart.com.

Damn - that's a good breakdown and way to look at it.

Reminds me of some of the local businesses that have been hit during the past 3 years of the pandemic. Some news articles from places around Vancouver that have been targeted on multiple occasions for vandalism (windows being smashed) or multiple robberies. And these are smaller restaurants and businesses that have already been up against it with the uncertainty of their financials. At a certain point they just say fuck it, and give up.

Damn Portland. And I thought Atlanta had it bad:

I have been complaining about the horrendous behavior in the U.S. impacting my business. It starts with the government, not protecting. Now that I am walking off, they are desperately clinging on, holding me hostage which is funny.

This isn't the only loss, when the government tries to coverup they try to damage your reputation to discredit you.

And another one...It's officially a thing now

Damn son, that shit is a serious trend. The last time I heard a business burning in the A was the Wendys where brotha Rashard Brooks was killed by the racist white cop. Man this could bring back all the mom and pops joints Walmart and Target have moved out the way.

I was just saying how there's a reset going on and companies are simply taking an opportunity to raise rates and blame gas, the economy etc.

My mechanic went from 25 to 35 for oil change. Same labor, it ain't costing you more cause I bring my own oil and filter. You just charging more cause you can get away with it.

And we have some folk that will blame Biden or the lil checks that Americans got for covid relief. I'm pretty sure most of this was coordinated. When the shelves were starting to be empty and the Biden administration said they were going to fine the shipping containers for not moving, miraculously things cleared. My conspiracy theory is that folks were trying to create shortages to associate high prices with dem leadership to make it easier for the GOP to get power again, plus taking advantage and using the pandemic as an excuse to price gouge.

Went to Walmart in East Point. They had those automatic barriers to stop folks from stealing. Preventive just to make it harder or let you know they're watching. Like putting up a fence in your front yard.

Went to Walmart Dunwoody. No barriers. Easy checkout although I do my shopping as early as possible on Saturdays so nobody much is in there.

I refuse to shop places that treat me as a criminal before I even get in the door. Yeah my money's still going to the same company but at least I can control my shopping experience if I need something specifically from there.
