Prince Gently Weeps- greatest solo ever?

Went to Prince's Lovesexy concert in 1988, hands down, the best concert ive ever seen, and that particular tour might have been his best, judging from industry critics:

my ticket stub, still got it, lol:

then pimp struts off the stage!!!...prince is that dude..

i regret missing sade and prince!!..but if they come back to houston im there!!

Yeah, P oughtta been hauled off to jail the way he murdered that shit! I have seen him in concert in the states and overseas no less than 8 times, and HE ALWAYS GOES IN. Best musician of our day IMO, although Stevie Wonder aint no slouch. I have seen Prince rock the bass, the lead, go acoustic, play the piano, hit the drums and tap the keyboards...all in one show. If you want REAL MUSIC, by REAL MUSICIANS, Prince is in a league all by himself. MJ puts on a good show, if u like gymnastics and pyrotecnics, but if you are there truly for the music, take yo ass to Prince concert. Those ATL concerts were OFFICIAL, I have them on tape. Oh yeah, the LoveSexy tour had to be amongst his best. The Diamonds and Pearls Tour wasn't no punk either. Lets just say whenever Prince showed up, so did all the freaky bad ass bitches and whatever the ticket price, I always got my money's worth and more.

The only reason this isn't the greatest solo ever is because of Steve Vai

THIS is the greatest solo ever

Granted this is HIS song and he's practiced/performed it thousands of times...

That Steve Vai clip is strong, and a whole song. Very good though. Like Prince, he is throwing a lot of flair in there, harmonics, flutters, these guys are just beyond.

Prince did the damn thing....he was killin it. I saved that clip on youtube as soon as I saw it a long while back.

Prince definitely got down.

Check out this version at the 3:30 mark.

SLOWHAND

Clapton is just nasty! Prince's was different and just as good , if not better. Both played an extremely emotional solo. This is just a song that a guitarist could pour his heart into if he has the skills. George Harrison would be proud to see what these guys are doing with his song, it's a classic!

this sounds a lot like Jimi's Woodstock joint

its great though

It was alright, ive heard much better solo's, Prince kinda goes off the beat and tone, and almost sounds like he's playing another song.

Were we listening to the same thing? He didn't even know the song and came out and slapped that bitch like she took his last peanut butta sammich.

I wonder if there is cat in Pakistan posting online clips at PGOL talking about:

"Ishtar Bambuli really lays it out on his sitar, check it out!"

Even the greatest guitarists admit Jimmy Hendrix was on another level. I don't even know what that means. I don't think I can comprehend...

He must have been truly otherworldly for these guys to say "Yes, he was the best. The BEST."

Not even close to the greatest Solo, but he did a damn good job... I'll throw this guy in the ring any day of the week.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert, Tom Petty and friends pay tribute to George Harrison with a version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Prince comes on at 3 minutes in, and lays down what is considered to be one of the greatest musical moments in rock and roll history. Guitar virtuoso, very beautiful, very impressive.

hmmm...so u read my thread and made the same one with a worse quality video the NEXT day.....

only on BGOL

I don't know if Prince is the best ever, that is a bit too subjective to answer, but I will tell you this, if you let him come on stage with you, chances are he is going to take what you are doing and make it sound 100 times better. Him on the guitar is like Michael Jackson on stage, sure there are better technical dancers than MJ but no one could make it look better, same goes for Prince and his ability to play the guitar.
