The black and white photos of Dorthy Count's integration into an all white school may have been already posted in this thread but this is my first time seeing them in color:

In 1957, Douglas Martin's photograph of Dorothy Counts became World Press Photo of the Year, "the most prestigious and coveted award in photojournalism"

Two royal ladies from the Kingdom of Urundi, 1929.

The Kingdom of Urundi, in the modern day Republic of Burundi, existed from c. 1680 (possibly earlier) to 1966. It was ruled by the Ganwa, a princely aristocracy, headed by the Mwani, or king, who ruled over the Hutu farmers, Tutsi pastoralists and Twa hunters, which were originally socio-cultural categories with a certain degree of fluidity. The kingdom survived both the German and the Belgian colonial periods relatively intact, only to be overthrown in a coup d’état barely 4 years after the independence of Burundi.

Paul Robeson is one of the coolest dudes ever. Great singer, a lawyer, a leading expert in linguistics, especially African linguistics, spoke more than 20 languages, sang in 50, great orator, early civil rights leader. He was unfortunately blacklisted during the Second Red Scare for a decade, with his passport revoked, because the US government decided free speech didn't apply to Marxists, as most civil rights leaders were back in the day. He became involved in struggles not just for rights for black people in America but also for African independence and workers rights in Europe (and the US) such as miners in Wales.

I saw they got their land back, but I wonder were they paid just the current value or was there a consideration for the earnings the land represented for the owners, who stole the land made...ie, if you stole a million dollar property from me and you made a billion on it over 50 years, I deserve a big part of that billion, not just the current land value.
All of said Billion!

Boxer Muhammad Ali's refusal to wear a seat belt on a plane spurred an answering quip from a stewardess. Just before takeoff on an airplane flight, the stewardess reminded Ali to fasten his seat belt. “Superman don’t need no seat belt,” replied Ali. ”Superman don’t need no airplane either,” retorted the stewardess.

Mata Hari, the archetype of the seductive female spy, was a professional dancer and mistress who became a spy for France during World War I. Suspected of being a double agent, she was executed in 1917 under charges of espionage for Germany.
