One of her best songs IMHO.
Her modern shit was hood too.
Maybe best song on the classic soundtrack.
Classic scene.
RIP Queen.
Hey Lexx, why isn't this thread is not a sticky, we've had a lot less pinned to the board?
Actually, do you know what cancer smoker's contract the most: colon cancer.Man, I really think the food gave her cancer before the cigs, because she was still singing. If it has been cancer because the cig, she would have had serious breathing problems.

It's one of the hats I've worn, my Brother. Just speaking from my heart.Well said, you must be a writer

Well said. She was a prodigy. She was Luther Vandross' greatest vocal influence and you could hear her in everybody from Natalie Cole to Ledisi onwards. I sing, myself and Aretha's power, soul and sensitivity has been inspirational. She sang conversationally. I hate this so much, because it signals the end of an era. This one really really hurts. I've been a fan of Aretha's since her years with Columbia Records back in the 50s (my childhood). Her music was a part of my families home and remains a major part of my music library today. In fact Aretha and my mother sang together at an event in Washington CD back in 1996. She had a presence about her and its doubtful she can ever be replaced.
There's other singers out there with great voices I don't want to disparage their accomplishments. But Aretha was more than just a great voice, she was also a great woman. She sang gospel, the blues, jazz, R&B, soul, pop and did them all better than most.

Good looking out. I'm gonna do that.Do yourself a favor, if you don't have any seek out Aretha's early music. The stuff she sang on the Columbia label which predates her Atlantic Record recordings. Here you can get a purer taste of who she really was as a singer. I'm talking about Aretha being raw. Nothing weird but Aretha sitting on a cane chair at a piano singing the blues and jazz with only few instruments and in many instances no background singers.
Don't get me wrong I like most of her music but that older stuff she recorded was incredible.
