Fatman Scoop’s Cause Of Death Revealed Following Onstage Collapse

Fatman Scoop‘s cause of death has been revealed after the rapper and DJ collapsed on stage during a performance last month.

Connecticut’s Chief Medical Officer ruled on Tuesday (September 24) that his death was caused by “hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

This was also ruled as being caused “naturally.”

Hypertensive heart disease is a condition that develops in people with long-term high blood pressure and puts added strain on the heart. Atherosclerosis, meanwhile, is the buildup of plaque in and on the artery walls, causing arteries to narrow and blood flow to be blocked.

Fatman Scoop (real name Isaac Freeman III) was just 56 years old at the time of his death, which occurred in Connecticut following a performance in Hamden where he fell down on stage while performing.

After he was pronounced dead in hospital hours later, Scoop’s family shared a tribute to him on social media.

“It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop,” the post began. “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life.”

The message continued: “Fatman Scoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend. He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.

“Fatman Scoop was known to the world as the undisputed voice of the club. His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity. His joy was infectious and the generosity he extended to all will be deeply missed but never forgotten.”

It concluded: “Fatman Scoop’s legacy is of love and brightness, it will reside in our hearts and memories forever.”

Various figures within Hip Hop also paid tribute to the late “Be Faithful” hitmaker.

Missy Elliott, who featured him on her 2005 hit “Lose Control,” wrote on Instagram: “Prayers for Fatman Scoop family for STRENGTH during this difficult time. Fatman Scoop[‘s] VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades. Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.”

Ludacris added in his own heartfelt post: “Scoop was one of those people that reminded you what the word LOVE Truly means. It’s an ACTION, and with his ACTIONS he exuded the PUREST form of Passion For HIP HOP. Every human being that he came Into contact with felt that LOVE & that PASSION. THIS is the Type Of LEGACY WE should ALL continue from here on until ETERNITY.”
