The caller on the other end of Samiel Asghedom’s phone was panicked but clear. His younger brother — known to the world as rapper Nipsey Hussle, but to Samiel as just Nip — had been shot.

It was Sunday afternoon — hours before hundreds of mourners would descend on South Los Angeles to remember a man known as much for his boastful music as for his humble contributions to his community. And days before a man named Eric Holder would be charged with murder.

Samiel jumped into his car parked outside his grandmother’s house. He ignored the red lights as he raced down Slauson Avenue — the South Los Angeles street that he and Nip were working to uplift. He arrived at the Marathon Clothing store precious minutes after a gunman fired multiple rounds into Nip, but before the paramedics pulled up. The time when life can precariously slip into death.

Blood stained the front of his brother’s shirt and a hole marked where a bullet entered his leg.

There’s no reason for him to still be breathing, Samiel thought.

But Nip was. Air rushed in and out of his nose — strong and loud.

Growing up in turf claimed by the Rollin’ 60s Crips gang, Samiel had seen death up close. Bullets, when they hit their target in the chest like the ones that hit Nip, were cruel and quick.

He’s meant to be alive, Samiel thought.

On Wednesday, Samiel recounted his brother’s final moments to The Times. He says he is haunted most by the way the shooting happened.

They were best friends. He was by Nipsey’s side when he was selling T-shirts and CDs from his car as a teenager, there when he opened a clothing store in the strip mall where they used to hang in the parking lot, and there when he signed a record deal with a major label. Last Sunday was no exception.

Police say Nip, born Ermias Asghedom, was gunned down by Holder, a 29-year-old aspiring rapper. Video from a nearby security camera captured the brazen attack, which occurred in broad daylight. Footage has been circulating on social media. What it doesn’t show is Holder talking to Nip a few minutes earlier.

Holder was a familiar face in South L.A. Pictures on social media show him wearing the Crips-blue bandannas, but in recent years, he seems to have vanished.

He re-emerged at the Marathon Clothing store on Sunday. The two men talked, shook hands and Holder left.

Nips would pop up in and out of his store without notice, his brother and others said. Samiel worried about his safety, and urged him to stop hanging in the parking lot and come inside. Nip had a bodyguard, but he moved freely through his neighborhood and those of rival gangs without worry.

“Nip is sporadic,” Samiel said. “Nip gonna pull up and hop up out of the Jordan Downs projects, Nickerson Gardens, in any ‘hood in L.A., Compton, Watts — solo with $150,000 of jewelry on his neck and [an] $80,000 Rolex with no security. That’s why the people loved him.”

He straddled many worlds with ease. His cool demeanor and regular appearances at the store made him relatable.

Nip built his reputation in the street, saying in a 2014 interview with the YouTube channel Vlad TV that he had joined the Rollin’ 60s as a teenager. But over the years, he grew his street hustle into legitimate businesses, connecting with the larger community of Los Angeles and the world, including some cops and politicians His music echoed his environment, but it also spread his message of entrepreneurship and the importance of planning for long-term success.

Samiel hushed the crowd that had formed around his brother. Nip laid on his back with his head tilted to the side.

The 911 operator told him what to do. Samiel found the hard, flat spot on his brother’s chest, clasped his hands together and pushed forcibly down, hard, to keep Nip breathing.

When the 911 operator reached 20, the wail of an ambulance’s siren filled the air around the strip mall — a place the brothers said they had been arrested many times before after the sound of different sirens.

Paramedics inserted a tube down Nipsey’s throat, stuck an IV in his arm and then lifted him off the pavement onto a waiting stretcher.

A chilling scream erupted from somewhere in the crowd of those who had gathered to watch. A bullet had pierced the back of Nipsey’s head.

For the first time, Samiel saw the gunshot wound on the back of his brother’s head. He started praying.

The strip mall was the place where Nip and Samiel got their hair cut and ate burgers. It was where both brothers said cops regularly held raids.

Los Angeles police still patrol the area often and treat people suspiciously, Samiel said.

The Marathon Clothing store hired mostly felons because they often have a hard time finding work with a criminal record. Felons also are prohibited from carrying guns.

“Because of that, the man was able to shoot my brother, start running, realize nobody out there had a gun, stop, turn back around, walk up, shoot my brother two more times, start to run, realize nobody had a gun, nobody was responding, ran back up and shot my brother three more times, shoot him in the head and kicked him in the head and then ran off,” Samiel dissected.

“If somebody would’ve been there — if I would’ve been there — I would’ve shot back,” he said. “I just wish I would’ve been there.”

The ambulance arrived at the hospital before Samiel got there. The doctor seemed to be avoiding him.

Samiel walked toward the ambulance and approached a paramedic.

“I know who he is,” the man said. “I’m a fan. I respect what he was doing in the community.”

“We tried our hardest,” Samiel recalls him saying.

Since then, Samiel has been trying to come to terms with what happened, but it’s hard to know who to trust. His brother’s death feels like an “execution.”

He wonders if the attack was a hit job or if Holder was simply jealous.

“It doesn’t make sense that somebody from the area, that just snuck up, and just talked to him and shook his hand minutes before,” Samiel said. “It’s mind-boggling.”

Samiel said he’s focused on preserving his brother’s legacy.

“He made something work in an area that was run-down, that people were scared to come to, and he turned it into a landmark,” he said. “All races. Different states. Many countries. They all come to Crenshaw and Slauson. He was truly the people’s champ.”

The conspiracy is back on, he retained a famous 5 grand attorney to keep him off of San Quentins death row to spend life in the lavish snitch & gang drop out heaven of Mule Creek.

If you plan on going to trial for murder. Dardin aint your guy, its plenty of bulldogs for that.

Nipsey Hussle shook hands with alleged killer before death

Nipsey Hussle shook hands with his alleged killer — who had “envy and hate in his eyes” — just moments before he was gunned down, according to a witness.

Herman Douglas, who described himself as Hussle’s business partner, claims he was one of the last people to see the rapper alive outside his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles.

“Me and Nipsey was talking, and the dude that shot him (Eric Holder), he came and shook our hands. Said he was a rapper and this old bulls-t,” Douglas told the Los Angeles Times. “Shook our hands, the dude went and got his burger. He left.”

Douglas said he went back inside the clothing store with his own food — and that’s when Holder returned with a gun.

“So, I might have left Nipsey’s side maybe three seconds,” Douglas recalled. “I left him maybe, approximately three seconds that I had left Nipsey and the dude came and shot him.”

Cops have said Holder, an aspiring rapper, shot Hussle over a personal beef.

Douglas, who said he had known Hussle since around 2003, suggested that Holder was jealous of the Grammy nominee’s success.

“What seems to be a less talented rapper had envy and hate in his eyes,” said Douglas. “It was nothing else. It was no motive. It was no beef.”

I said the same thing, it makes no sense! All that should not have taken place. They said that Nipsey was there to help a friend that just got out of jail. They said he was not supposed to be at store. How did the shooter know Nipsey was at the store and without his bodyguard? Was it a setup ( the guy he was helping) was he in it to get him . That let the woman ( get away driver go??????) That man didn't work Alone ( they orchestrated this) the shooter had checked himself in and out of mental hospital in past two weeks?????????! That was so when he did this he would have ( black and white) on paper that he So called mentally unstable?????! Believe me this wasn't a one man hit?????!
They actually arrested Eric Holder at the mental hospital

Ok, I get that. But what about a still image of the suspect (who at the time wasnt identified) so peoplpe know who to look out for because they are "armed and dangerous". That NEVER happened. For example, remember when that lil youngster got stabbed by them 6-7 dudes in New York when they dragged him out the liquor store? Dawg, within an hour they had still images of each one of the suspects entering that store and outside of that store. They even showed the whole video. Granted, lil man wasn't famous BUT that ish had worldwide coverage and had celebs from all over screaming "justice for lil man" ( i forgot his name). Thats all im sayin, in Pac and Bigs case, it wasnt as high tech as it is now so I can understand a sketch artist having to draw something up but nowadays with all these HD cameras, to not at least show an image of dudes face or even a still image of the car that they were looking for is a lil suspect. Then to not even show the "driver" or even mention anything aside from "she turned herself in" is suspect. Who is this bitch?

I feel you as far as not showing a closeup image of the shooter, the car and the woman. Definitely strange to say the least. There’s at least 5-10 cameras in that area so they have footage of Everything that went down.

Not sure why they didn’t release images of the suspect and the car involved?

Bodyguard was given the day off. Nip didn’t alert any of his “Shooters” that he was going to the store. He also didn’t alert any of his “Shooters” that he was leaving the house.

Yes there’s people who crave fake attention on IG and other social media, but most are saddened by the passing of Nip. Believe what you choose to believe.

They had no hammers in the store???

Black Sam Nipsey’s brother stated that the store employs many ex-felons because they have trouble getting jobs once released. Ex-felons can’t have guns and the cops frequently shake the spot so no, they most likely didn’t have guns.

Unsure if security was there.

I stated earlier that he gave his bodyguard the day off. In that post, I was stating that I didn’t know if store security was there.
Did Eric know that he had gave him the day off. If so how did he know it. When Biggie was killed a task force was actually tailing him at the time. The bodyguards was with Puffy not biggie. The task force knew it at the time. They even took pictures of Biggie the night he was killed.

I read that article on the link in your post. Ex felons can get voting rights back but it is something strange about those gun rights. Especially the way the privileged can flaunt it in our face. I always felt when I was in the military that they found out I was not one of them they immediately stated doing all they could to have my black ass locked up and the force seemed to follow me when I got out of the military. They did all they could to make sure I did not get out with a honorable discharge but I overcame and got out with an honorable discharge. What I mean by they realized I was not one of them is the total control or at least be controlled by brainwashing. A G.I. is government issue. Even in regular because whites created the reality that we were born in they will always feel we can never overcome and they have us beat from jump. They control what goes in your system and in your mind.
We civilized whites. But it does not seem that way according to history. But whites use to crawl around on all fours like real demons. History try to show us that whites civilized blacks but it is untrue. The so called colonizer is an illusion and a control of minds including them brainwashing themselves. This shit with them worshiping war and got the whole world following is a trip. It is something going on with this thing about rewarding whites that kill unarmed blacks. It is like the goal is to make us all helpless to defending ourselves against them. Some of us do not believe there is a plan still going on right now to feminize the black male. Also the continuing plan and work to genocide all of us. These people are actually suicidal. Who can stop them from destroying all of humanity? They operate like we are children that do what we are told.
