Sauce Walka & his artist Sayso P were shot in Memphis earlier today.

Actually, I am an artist, among other things. The few "artists" I know who go by comic book names often have nothing more to offer artistically than the name. There was one painter in Detroit a while back who named himself after a side dish. Come to find out, he was immitating (read ripping off) the style of an artist in L.A. who preceded him by at least a decade.

Artists, people who actually ARE artists, meaning they have an inordinate amount of talent in some art form with respect to the general population, don't NEED artificial names.

Miles Davis.

Eddie Jefferson.

Aretha Franklin.

Dexter Gordon.

Billie Holliday.

The talent speaks for itself. All real names that do not suggest a crackerjack box.

The crutch of spectacle and pretense is not necessary if one is TRULY talented.
Oh you wanna get serious? Well let's get serious.

Us African Americans at many times have nicknames that get picked up early in life.

Scooter, Peewee, Tank, BigMan, Little Man, ManMan etc.

Many of us African Americans have ran across people with those names.

Regarding artists, since your issue was with rappers names let's stick to those.

Sauce is style, drip, ingredients that makes up one and makes one standout.

His last name is Walker and you have Sauce Walka.

Scooter was a nickname that Young Scooter had and he threw the You g in from of it like many did at the time that his name was created.

Kodak was called "Black" growing up and he threw the Kodak in from so you could visualize him like pictures.

Am I done?

No

Old Dirty Bastard equals No Father to His Style.

Wake Floka Flame equals his first name is Juaquin Waka for short . Us African Americans with those nicknames again.

He was said to always travel in big groups aka Flocks, that where Flocks comes from and you can figure out the Flame.

Vanilla Ice, he's white and everyone was cold in the 80's. Ice T, Ice Cube etc.

Shorty Lo - He was short and his first name was Carlos Lo for short. Us African Americans with those nicknames.

Yes and rappers also use their real names too, no crackerjack boxes needed.

Nas - Nasir Jones

Kendrick Lamar - You can figure that on out.

Parrish Smith

Reggie Noble

Erick Sermon

J Cole - Jermaine Cole

Eminem - Cool way to spell his initials Marshall Mathers

LL Cool J - Ladies Love Cool James

KRS-1 Knowledge Reigns Supreme

Heavy D - He was big and his first name's Dwight

Oh and a made up created name that means nothing, Childish Gambino.
