I agree everyone doesn't need a college degree, but we also should encourage more of our kids to consider STEM careers. Healthcare jobs are damn near recession proof, but you need a college degree for most jobs and/or a community college degree (people sleep on careers like sonography or respiratory therapist or occupational/physical therapy assistants that make great money).

I use to try and keep ahead on my loan, by making both principle and interest. It seemed like the principle never lowered. A couple of months ago, I said fuck it, I'll be dead and gone before this shit is paid off. Now I pay just the minimum, and I'm good with it.
The shit is a whole trap.

Medical debt yes. School debt no. One is a choice the other isn't.
What about those in medical debt who lived unhealthy lives (due to their bad choices).

They should get off Scott free, while others who were sold the dream of getting a degree and higher education institutions raised the costs of per credit hours forcing those students to take out higher loans to pay for school costs have to eat it?

Especially whe the degrees they earned won't help get them a job that will pay off those loans?

Nah bruh, I disagree.

Healthcare AND Education should be free.

You shouldn't have to put a price on ones health for the same reason you shouldn't have to put a price on knowledge.

I agree with you that people often make bad lifestyle choices that negatively effect their health and ultimately may even threaten their lives. In much the same way people make bad financing choices regarding their education that may hinder them economically for a significant portion of their lives if not all of it. In both instances people believe their choices are something they can live with until they can't. Who should society bail out? It depends on which bailout you're most likely to benefit from. I think we are all most likely to eventually benefit from medical debt relief than any other type of debt forgiveness.

It's way worse than that. Over 50% of congress is millionaires, yet only 1% of the population are millionaires.

The 1% controls over half of government.

Let that sink in.

Are they going to give a credit to people who had to pay back loans prior to this?

Because this is a leg up for the people who benefit from this........with tax money paid by people who had to pay their loans in full.

What say you? Does that seem right?

That is why it will never happen bro. Never.
Whenever someone black and poor might benefit, the aid is never going out.
Just look and see. If it is a white person solely that will benefit, then shit seems to get done.

No. Reduce the interest on the loans. Allow refinance of current loans and extend amount of years to pay them back.

Edit: the loan should be considered forgivable if it’s worthless and students consistently cannot find jobs in that field or it no longer pays enough to pay back the loans.
i had a modified version where they just get rid of the whole interest instead.

So they get to use the money they would ve paid back to the government to invest and make themselves more money.......

But I can t do the same because mine went to the government.

That seems cool.
That kinda how evolution and progress work. Imagine your granny saying "wait, this nigga code pirahna dont have to enter back door of restaurants to order and can actually eat his food at the counter!! And he can go to same school as whites and has better opportunity to succeed than i had!!?!"

Your objections are based in pure hate and anti-progressiveness. Not to mention your future generations and current relatives will benefit from the measure. Essentially saying "i got fucked over so everyone else should as well" is a horrible tenet to live life by my man.

If you have student debt, it’s a great idea. If you don’t, either because you decided not to go to college, or you paid it off you’re probably like duck it.

This is the problem with socialism, there are winners and losers depending on the government. If you have college debt you get thousand in a payment from govt. if you don’t you get nothing. How is that fair?

In strict capitalism, the winners and losers are determined by the individuals and their willingness to work.

Socialism is meant to mitigate the impact being a "winner" or a "loser" (a bullshit division but I'm rolling with it here) has on your basic rights, like the right to stay alive when you get cancer, your right to shelter and every child's right to an education.

Your definition of capitalism completely ignores the concept of generational wealth and considering the racial impact of that, it's pretty offensive. It's something a conservative white person would feel comfortable saying but any black person talking that way needs to reassess whose side they are on.

This. I can understand the other side of the argument, it's human nature. But you gotta catch yourself and look at the big picture. I feel like sooner or later the government is gonna have to chose between strapping all these folks down with these loans for a lifetime vs allowing them to spend that money on other life shit = having that money re-enter and stimulate the economy. It's getting to the point where they are going to have to question whether or not the trade off is worth it.

I find it :roflmao: that folks think the cat who has for years helped create the student loan debt problem is going to swoop in and correct things. He's the fucking reason why these people can't get it taken care of in bankruptcy.

Biden a cold-hearted bastard that knows how to play politics. Can't wait to see all the college-educated voters coppin' pleas in 4 years when ain't shit been done for them.

The people going hardest at Biden on this did not support him in the first place and never had faith in him. It's the people who had demands who are getting fucked over- the activists and the constituencies they represent. The hardcore Biden supporters are going to spend the next four years saying "At least he's not Trump."

They ain't gonna forgive those student loan debts..That was a contract they signed and just like me with my mortgage, its gotta be paid or there will be consequences. Besides, Joe got his own money to help a few of these debtors. All he gotta do is go get it from Hunter.

"having that money re-enter and stimulate the economy"

How can debt forgiveness stimulate the economy. That makes no sense....Its more like, nothing from nothing equals nothing.

ELIMINATE THE STUDENT DEBT!
How about "suing" the schools first. They took all that money and used it to pay those high ass administrators and teachers.

163 votes. 1 out of 5 people really said they don't believe in eliminating student debt under any circumstances.

8% voted to eliminated student debt for households earning less than the poverty line at $25,750 a year. That is basically a no vote on student debt relief but saying "but damn, imagine having debt for higher education and making less than $25k a year, as an individual much less as a family." 4.9% said to cancel debt for these people, 3.1% wouldn't even do that but said "We'll cut the poor bastards some slack."

18.4% saw the option to eliminate college debt for the very poorest, people under the poverty line... And said "fuck 'em. Let them spend the rest of their poor lives paying for something that obviously did not benefit them."

Should All Student Debt Be Cancelled?

Yep, here's the trick they use though illegal for you and me but they face very little consequence.

Insider trading. Many congressmen will buy and sell stock based on pending legislation. Before you start slinging around its this party of that party... its all of them. Thats why you will find so many of them who were flat broke before they entered congress are now multi millionaires.
