Slutty Vegan shut down at Spelman and lead to a debate about black businesses taking advantage of their own damn kind

It's Spelman. Not Spellman.

I never ate at no place named Slutty whatever. It ain't for me.

Owner went to CAU and gives back so good on her.

She's in business to make money. Students got a lesson in economics. Market will decide though. You don't dig it don't eat there.

Wasn’t the white owned impossible burgers more expensive than regular burglars? Isn’t it always talked about how vegan food is more expensive than regular food? So I’m trying to fig out how did someone expect a vegan restaurant to be cheap especially a black 1?
Again, the reason that they’re gone isn’t a Black or white thing.

It’s a price thing, students didn’t want to pay $30 for a meal on a college campus.

And yes, that should’ve been worked out before that got there.

yet they will pay any price crakkas set.

I liked the food when my daughter took me there while visiting. It wasn't on any campus and there was a young brother outside their spot selling lemonade.
And that's the only issue I have with this. Where's that same energy for these crakkkas who are overcharging us for a product or food service that's 10 times worse?

Its an option not the only one.

and how do you know what the students can afford?

Do you believe if the business wasn't making money they would still be there ?

they knew what the prices were when they brought it to campus

Starbucks don't lower prices when they have spots on campuses.
I mean if that's the case then this wouldn't be news of students complaining about the prices and want to vote to replace it with another business who are affordable.

Do you know if these students even buy that shit from Starbucks?

I don't like these CACs either who overcharge us. I don't like the fact they have a Starbucks there on that campus. I never in my life brought anything from that CAC business starSUCKS because it's fuck that business 4ever.

I don't know anything about these students.

Do they speak for the whole enrollment or are they some committee flexing

seems simple to me, if nobody can afford the prices, then don't patronize them, and they will fold or close that location.

Why do you need a vote ? If nobody goes there, they are gone

So I guess no business majors are on that committee. ☺

People keep saying oivercharge.

Are the prices higher at the Spellman location than at the off campus location?

Or is it like airports where prices are much higher than the off airport locations

I don't understand why people don't realize this....their costs are higher

I think that type of spot aint suitable for a college campus...she could have an express or budget model with a simpler menu of the cheaper price point items in order to serve that demographic if it's feasible.

I’m gonna let it go because you have your mind made up, but you’re reaching Bruh.

Georgia Tech Menu

Emory Menu

And I didn’t list Spellman because the menu isn’t available yet, at least I couldn’t find it.
the menu I pulled up had shit ranging from 10-20+ dollars.. I don’t know if there’s some other twisted taco spot.. but the prices you posted look different than the 1 I found.. in fact the color scheme of menu look different to.. the 1 I pulled up is some green color

You're probably right. I got my googles on and just checked out the two Atlanta locations on campuses.

She just shouldn’t have opened a location on a college campus. Vegan options are always more expensive. College students don’t normally have a budget to afford a $20 burger. I don’t think she was trying to take advantage of the students at all. Vegan burgers at most places run $18-23

And they thought would be good to put on a college campus?

Shit nigga I got a job and I don't wanna pay $20 for a burger on an average lunch day!

Shit I'd say Five Guys #NoBullet would be slightly too expensive to put on a college campus. But at least could get out paying $20 for lunch/dinner.

Not only that. They are selling vegan burgers. The deluxe shouldn't cost more than $5 for college kids.

Shit is vegan food that right there would’ve had me not enter
I just ask not to tell me it tastes just like.

I had no problem trying it, I liked eggplant parm sandwiches back in my youth.

I liked it.... and I didn't pay 30 for a burger and fries cause fries came with the burger and I got an 8 dollar lemonade outside from a cat getting his hustle on.

My daughter was the college student who took me there . She had been many times and when I was outside standing in line there were quite a few college students in line.

So mofokrs need to stop making general statements about what college students have and what their budget is

Always in somebody else's pocket SMDH

The whole vegan fad is dying. It was all the hype a couple years ago, but you notice you see less social media posts about vegan lifestyle.

People are also starting to realize that all the processed ingredients in their fake meats is worse than actual real meat.

The company Beyond meat has been losing money and currently struggling.
