I realized we don't have a dedicated sports thread for the bgol parents...

And as Opening day is here and the summer approaching

I thought this would be a good time

first off has anyone else had his experience...

more than once

a fine thick sports mom come running to practice with a big coat and her head scarf on

drop the kid off

walk up to you and say

I am such a mess rough morning

Open her coat and show you her tight fitting nightgown barely containing her glorious mounds

and then laugh feigning embarrassment

or is it just me?

Happens quite a few times actually...

I've had moms call me to help grab their kids out the car cause they can't find parking...

I get in the trunk rush the kids out grab equipment and when she is thanking me as I near the driver side window to say everything is fine

she thanked me profusely and said they are such a mess thank you so much they are sorry

and she literally FLASHED ME to PROVE she really just ran out the house.

But BDR honestly I think that can actually be a sign that I am NOT a THREAT so she just sees me as another damn mom.

and for a single mother of 2 who breast fed?

Good lawd her breasts were epic.

and she KNEW it.

What age y'all start putting the little ones in organized sports?

I'm thinking 3 for my lil mans.

it depends.

at 3 to me that is fine its MORE about exercise ad playing with other kids then REAL training.

A LOT of those programs at around THAT age are free if you look around.

One of my girls had 3 free summers of soccer and basketball and gardening once a week for free when they were 4 and 5.

I wouldn't say that she thinks of you as a mom but definitely thinks of you as safe. It could go one or two ways though...you're heavy in the friend zone OR you are SAFE and feels comfortable enough to want to get close to you...so while the kids are away she herself will want to play (sorry about the corny rhyme but it fits). Even if you did get friend zoned, she'd be your mouth piece to other moms or women she is with.

fam...worst move.

Its actually a worse move then smashing a co worker. You see them at they best and worse...every week. Usually VERY casual and they guard is down and you look like Super Dad to them cause they seeing YOU in your element and you kinda become one of the team Dads

ESPECIALLY if you Black?

the black and Hispanic mothers get extra possessive and super friendly

the white moms try to REALLY get up under you.

Even the white Dads try to get all buddy buddy.

and pretty soon?

That competition sets in.

Ive been with some of them who haven't even showered yet...and no perfume no body lotion no make up and look and smell :pain:

but its a tricky space, they hugging and kissing bringing food giving you lifts home texting you
again Ill just say

if YOU do decide to go that route?

You need to pick someone grown...in every sense of the word. I aint even talking about AGE.

And adults know what it is and what it is going to be.

And you better drink ya Gatorade and take ya vitamins cause they will WORK you like a sport and they trying to make varsity.

If you are a coach, parents never tell you what's wrong with their kids. ADD? Won't listen? Nope.
Some parents want you to be understanding. Some want you to be the drill Sargent. Others want you to be the training specialist that's going to develop there kid to next level.

Man, I've coached women's athletics...something about females and their families is that when they trust you...they fucking trust you and that shit spreads to everyone. I think this is true although it sounds like pseudoscience...but women will naturally sync with each other. They used to say that women on a team, if around each other enough will start to have their cycles be in sync. Now imagine, if you are in an environment that opens to you and you do something bad...you'll know it and the shit will be horrible.

The only word of advice I would give is to be prepared to center your life around practice and games. We are off this weekend but next weekend going forward we will have tournaments. I live in the southeast side of Houston but it seems like all of the events are in the Woodlands, Spring, Humble, etc... We usually get a room and stay based on if they play in the championship game. They practice twice a week from 7-9:30 and he has personal workouts 1-2 per week. Our games start on a Friday and the championship game is on Sunday.

So far we are 4-1. My kid is the youngest on the squad, he is playing 15u and he won't be 15 until the end of July. His best game was the last game. He hit the last 6 points in a win 52-51. Playing and practicing with older kids has already improved his game. I can't believe that he is already looking me in the nose and I am 6'6". He is already touching the fucking rim.

The fee for his team is $1365.00, which includes backpack, uniform, and travel to Vegas. Food and travel to the other games is extra.

Funny story, when I am at practice my focus is completely on my son but cacs really love to talk and be nosey. In an effort to ignore them I keep my headphones on. However, this one cac lady is touchy feely and it kills her that I don't tell her what I do for a living. I just told her it is classified. She is convinced that I play for the Texans. She even had her kid ask my kid what I did for a living and my kid said it was classified, lol. I know that bitch is sick trying to find out.

Depends on the sport. Both of my boys started playing basketball around 6 in the parks and rec league and ymca. This is the first year my oldest is playing aau. He also plays on the highschool team.

Bro, I got fam in Houston with kids and trying to hang out with them always revolves around the kids sports schedule. Shit is crazy but it is fun because you at least know general times when people will be available (after the sports competitions are done).

All jokes and ocking aside, what do you all think about having boys in dance classes at early ages? Folks think that stuff is for girls BUT it is female dominant and you as a parent will be around nothing but women and so would your boy. Also, seems like a great way to develop body awareness, flexibility and strength.

3 is a good age. Hell, my two year old is swinging a bat off a tee and learning to field ground balls. Seems to just come natural to him.

I REALLY appreciate and respect the people that sacrifice time effort and energy to coach...many do it for FREE.

It is damn near thankless...I said damn near.

Cause when a child really blossoms and becomes a smart respective individual?

There is NO greater feeling.

salute...

the thing is you doing it right

no PRESSURE

I see dads out here thinking they kid Ichiro cause they knock a ball off the tee 6 out of 10 times.

don't get me wrong I HAVE seen 4/5 year old kids ALREADY showing natural talent

but the BIGGEST mistake is having that kid ONLY play one sport.

you dropping gems.

We need to discuss this MUCH more...Dads AND Moms.

be mindful of the white folk trying to get in ya circle. Trying to find out what you doing with ya kids and ESPECIALLY what YOU do for a living.
No need for all that. No need to be rude or anti social, but just keep it cordial and calm and nice. Hell if you have to act like your UNEMPLOYED STAY AT HOME? that is NOT a bad way to go.

Cause trust these white folk WILL google you and try to get involved in ANY positive situation YOU got going with your family.

Right. My 13 year old plays golf now and I put him in everything to see what he liked. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf. He didn't wanna play football anymore but he liked golf and was pretty good at it. He was a pretty good offensive lineman but I think he was afraid of getting hurt. I wasn't mad at him as long as he's playing a sport staying active. He can hit the ball 130- 150 yrds strait wherever he wants. You know how hard dat shit is to consistently do? If golf didn't stick ice hockey was next cause he said he wanted to try it. Put your kids in everything and just see what they like. But keep them physically active. And walking a golf course in 95 degree heat ain't no joke either. My son played a tournament at University of Princeton golf course. Goddam dat shit nice as fuck.

That is a commitment that MOST parents aren't prepared for.

This can QUICKLY become a complete lifestyle change and SEROUS financial investment.

you can't have ass this.

ESPECIALLY if your kid REALLY has talent?
Balancing school and sports and then balancing a budget and your OWN personal time is a HUGE deal.

Again it doesn't get EASIER as your kid improves...its MORE intense and more pressure.

and do NOT get caught up into college scholarships at 10 YEARS OLD

@Quek9 doing it right, high school? and the kid is actually ENJOYING it? You can AFFORD IT?

THEN you gotta double down.

your good dad jack!

and you COMPLETELY on point

let these kids do and try EVERYTHING

that golf is a GREAT look.

And your continued support? Is key.

That hockey is another real good look.

my oldest plays soccer lacrosse tennis golf ice skating field hockey

next is going to be ice hockey and fencing

she on a Violin break cause I felt like it was TOO MUCH

she NEVER complained but I just FELT like it was too much

and low and behold this semester she made honor roll and principal's list.

I'm REALLY trying to STILL figure HOW and WHEN to push and when to fall back.

if your kid got talent, you shouldn't be paying for shit, that's what people do
really it's not talent, it's about creating a work ethic, leadership type of mindset
and if he/she can play they gone play for free
bottomline
coach your own seeds, learn the game, include academics on the field at a young age, for example ,
when hitting have them figure out percentages, etc

Man I never knew that Violin and clarinet were so goddam loud till my son brought them shits home playing them in the music program in school. He doesn't play music anymore but he's into photography. Got him a professional camera. Kid takes amazing pics. Just took time to learn the shit on his own. Doctor is saying he's supposed to be between 6-5 and 6-9. He's 6ft now. His ass gets to 6'9 we'll revisit basketball again. 2 year old comes to my waist and I'm 6'3. His doctor says he's in the 99% range on the growth chart which is very rare.

yeah, and I am still standing by if you the man of the household, you gone have to dictate guide them to some sports they don't like, choices my ass if you under 13 years of age
as a man you have to recognize ability, skill set, work ethic, and make unpopular decisions for your seed, Richard Williams set out the plan for them to play Tennis, I mean they coulda hooped like every other tall chick, but he recognized and made that choice, it's a fine line, but if you a real dad, a real man you know what's best for your seed, so if you sitting there at 5'5 220 and your wife 5'2 200 fuck basketball, why you even investing in that?
