you can stream games on YouTube? I didn't know that. I don't have the CBS Sports Network on my DirecTV package so I didn't stay home to watch the game yesterday. I went to Chicago Chicken and waffles here in Cleveland.

had I known that I could have pulled it up on YouTube, I might have stayed home to watch the game. That's good to know

This channel streams the live game and has all of the weekend games up if you want to rewatch them.

The Alliance of American Football (the AAF) has arrived, sending football fans across the country into a fever pitch.

FOOTBALL IS NOT OVER, AFTER ALL!

And with the first of a ten week schedule underway, football fans will look to get to know these players and develop favorites. But as a Draft guy, this league is fun because it’s stocked to the brim full of players that I know from my efforts in scouting.

And while the AAF (and the upcoming XFL in 2020) are strong plays for more football and should provide benefit to fans, players and coaches alike, the NFL is still king. So if the NFL were to come knocking, which players on these 2019 AAF rosters would be most likely to get a call?

Here are three AAF players who could make an NFL 53-man roster in 2019.

Orlando Apollos WR Jalin Marshall
Marshall last played for the New York Jets in 2016, but hasn’t made his way back to the league after playing 10 games in his rookie season. Marshall, an Ohio State product, left the Buckeyes early and things haven’t materialized the way he’d have hoped.

But the dude just scored the first touchdown in league history…so he’s a lock for the AAF Hall of Fame.

Seriously though, Marshall has special teams experience and with a good showing over these 10 games as a featured piece of Coach Steve Spurrier’s offense, Marshall could earn himself a look. And his special teams value offers him a fighting chance.

San Diego Fleet DE Damontre Moore
The Fleet’s Damontre Moore last played in the NFL this past season, logging one tackle in two games played with the Oakland Raiders. Now, it’s not necessarily a great omen that the pass rush hungry Raiders didn’t get any production out of Moore…but he’s got experience with four teams in six seasons, so there’s plenty of networking and potential opportunity available to him.

Moore logged a sack last night in the Fleet’s opening week loss to San Antonio.

San Antonio Commanders WR Greg Ward Jr.
Fun fact: Greg Ward Jr. has a Super Bowl ring. A member of the Eagles’ practice squad in 2017, Ward received a lot of good reviews during his time with the franchise. But the numbers game added up to the Eagles cutting Ward this fall, and off to the AAF he went.

Ward made an impressive catch against the Fleet last night, showing off some impressive ball skills for a former college Quarterback (Houston Cougars).

I hear you, but I can tell you ESPN has been promoting the hell out of this, I think cause so many in Bristol are still coll with Pollian.

They ESPECIALLY went in on this the next day, I think the ratings were a legit surprise (even they the dipped significantly DURING the telecast)

and ESPN just NEEDED content.

do NOT forget...

NFL and TNT will TELEVISE the damn AAF games!

right there tells you ALL you need to know.

Yeah I have to say that I'm impressed with the team has been able to do..

Getting the game on Multiple major networks with night games on NFL network is huge..

They just need to work on this Cbssportsnetwork situation..

I mean you can watch the streaming game on TNT online, CBS all access, and NFL network but you can't watch it if it is on Cbssportsnetwork.. WTF???!!

I also think that the Alliance needs to put the full games on their website..

This is how you draw in people.

Give people the access to rewatch good moments whenever they want to. Hell next year.. I'd definitely think about hitting up Youtube.

What is the AAF? Notable players, coaches, teams, schedule for new Alliance of American Football league
AAF kicks off this weekend; here's everything you need to know about the league

The new Alliance of American Football is almost ready for kickoff (the two season-openers, San Diego-San Antonio and Atlanta-Orlando, are both on CBS at 8 p.m. ET Saturday, with regional coverage, and can be streamed on CBS All Access). So, what exactly is the AAF? Well, you may have come across some news about former NFLquarterbacks finding new homes, if you've been reading football headlines recently,

CBS Sports Network aired a QB Draft with lead analysis from Kurt Warner, for instance, and in that draft, familiar names like Christian Hackenberg, Josh Johnson (who ended up playing for the Washington Redskins in a few games late in the 2018 NFL season) and Aaron Murray were selected as if starting their NFL careers afresh.

Those quarterbacks -- and countless other players -- are actually preparing to suit up for the AAF, a brand new league set to debut on Saturday.

If you're like most football fans, however, and you're still trying to figure out just what the heck AAF really is, well, you've come to the right place. Here, we've got all the details you need to get ready for the games this weekend (and we've even got Power Rankings):

So what is the AAF?
AAF stands for Alliance of American Football, which was announced in March by co-founders Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian, the latter of whom spent decades working as an NFL executive. It is an eight-team league that exists to both complement the NFL during the offseason and showcase local, developing talent. Its leadership board features former NFL players Jared Allen, Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu, and its mission is to provide "high-quality professional football fueled by a dynamic Alliance between players, fans and the game." And if you want to see out who we've got in the Week 1 games, check out our picks.

What are the teams?
The AAF's inaugural eight franchises are as follows:

  • Arizona Hotshots
  • Atlanta Legends
  • Birmingham Iron
  • Memphis Express
  • Orlando Apollos
  • Salt Lake Stallions
  • San Antonio Commanders
  • San Diego Fleet

Who are some notable coaches and players?
The AAF used a QB Draft to allow each of the eight teams an opportunity to either protect allocated quarterbacks or pick one from another region, with those quarterbacks first signing directly to the AAF. Before the draft, dozens of other players had already joined the league, with Hines Ward hinting this fall that "big names" remain on the AAF's radar.

Before any players signed to the league, the AAF also announced head coaches for all eight of its original teams.

Here's a rundown of some of the most notable names on each team entering 2019:

Team: Arizona Hotshots
Coach: Rick Neuheisel
Players: QB Trevor Knight

Team: Atlanta Legends
Coach: Kevin Coyle
Players: QB Aaron Murray, QB Matt Simms, WR Stephen Hill

Team: Birmingham Iron
Coach: Tim Lewis
Players: QB Blake Sims, QB Scott Tolzien, RB Trent Richardson, CB JaCorey Shepherd, K Nick Novak

Team: Memphis Express
Coach: Mike Singletary
Players: QB Christian Hackenberg, QB Zach Mettenberger, RB Zac Stacy, WR Chris Givens

Team: Orlando Apollos
Coach: Steve Spurrier
Players: QB Garrett Gilbert, QB Stephen Morris, WR Frankie Hammond, DB Will Hill

Team: Salt Lake Stallions
Coach: Dennis Erickson
Players: QB B.J. Daniels, QB Garrett Grayson, RB Matt Asiata

Team: San Antonio Commanders
Coach: Mike Riley
Players: RB David Cobb, RB Daryl Richardson

Team: San Diego Fleet
Coach: Mike Martz
Players: QB Josh Johnson, RB Bishop Sankey

When will they start playing?
The AAF's 10-week, 40-game regular season begins Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. ET from Spectrum Stadium in Florida, where the Orlando Apollos will host the Atlanta Legends; and from The Alamodome in Texas, where the San Antonio Commanders will host the San Diego Fleet.

CBS is scheduled to broadcast the AAF's Feb. 9 Opening Day, with regional coverage (and you can stream the games on CBS All Access), while CBS Sports Network will then carry one AAF game each week throughout the season (stream those games on CBS Sports Network or on fuboTV, try for free).

Which college football team is each AAF team’s counterpart?

These rosters were designed to be quite regional, but let’s find each team’s college counterpart.

THERE GOES DAVIS IN THE AAF
Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images
The Alliance of American Football should be a fun spring pastime, with lots of players and coaches you’ve heard of trying out a more TV-friendly version of football on CBS platforms. But unless you live near one of the eight cities with AAF teams, you might be unsure which team to claim.

The league did a smart job of making sure each team’s roster includes lots of locals, but we can get more specific. Let’s count up alumni from each roster in order to narrow each AAF team down to a single college, then apply that information as a scouting report.

The Arizona HOTSHOTS are actually UCLA
Arizona State and the Bruins have five HOTSHOTS each, but the head coach is Rick Neuheisel, a former UCLA quarterback, assistant, and head coach. Expect the HOTSHOTS to draft early every year and thus have a roster full of top talent, produce little to show for it, and somehow avoid anyone really noticing that disparity.

Other teams with multiple HOTSHOTS: Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas A&M

The Atlanta Legends are actually Georgia Tech
Sadly, the five Jackets won’t be able to stage a coup and install their alma mater’s since-discarded flexbone option offense, as most of them play defense. The Legends might’ve nearly had an offense really heavy on the QB option though, with Michael Vick originally planned as OC (he’s since taken a lesser role) and former Michigan all-purpose QB Denard Robinson on the roster.

Other teams with multiple Legends: Georgia, Georgia Southern, Louisville, North Carolina, Ohio State, Valdosta State, Virginia

The Birmingham Iron are the Kick Six
Bama has a whopping 10 players on the Iron, but the identity of one of Auburn’s five players means we have to provide equal time to this entire video now:

Me, every day at Iron practice as Chris Davis does sprints alongside his teammates:

“He’ll run it out to the 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 45! THERE GOES DAVIS! OH MY GOD!”

Where were you when the Kick Six happened?[/paste:font]
How to tell the story of the Kick Six as it happens in front of you
Other teams with multiple Iron ........ Ironmen? Ironmans ................... Ironpersons: Maryland (Mike Locksley recruiting connection), Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, South Carolina

The Memphis Express are actually LSU
With eight big, beautiful Bayou Bengal Tigers on the roster, including QB Zach Mettenberger and punt god Brad Wing, the Express are hellbent on mucking every contest into a 19-12 eye sore that delights only the most hardcore manball appreciators. How will they do this in a league with rules designed to favor the offense? Please. LSU regularly turns five-star receivers into fourth round draft picks. Have a little goddamn faith in LSU. (Also, Christian Hackenberg is the quarterback.)

Other teams with multiple Express ..... Expressionists: Baylor (counting head coach Mike Singletary, another devoted 19-12 creator), Memphis, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt

The Orlando Apollos are, uh, actually the Florida Gators for real
Seven Gators on the roster, plus Steve Spurrier as head coach and longtime assistant Bob Sanders running the “defense.” Ha! This team ain’t playing defense. It has about 37 wide receivers who stand 5’11, 186 pounds and former five-star SMU QB Garrett Gilbert. I think everyone involved in the AAF knows all people want is Spurrier letting that thing whistle all over the ballyard.

Other teams with multiple Apollos: FAU, Florida State, JMU, Miami, Notre Dame, South Carolina, UCF, USF, West Virginia

The San Diego Fleet are actually San Diego State
Finally, an easy one.

Other teams with multiple Fleets (just Fleets), and this list is more aquatic and Fleet-y than it might appear at first: Colorado (has rapids), Minnesota (has lakes), Pitt (has rivers), Rutgers (near other ocean), San Jose State, Stanford, Syracuse (near waterfall), UNLV (has casino fountains), USC, Washington (fans tailgate in boats)

The Salt Lake Stallions have as many Utah Utes as any other team has anything
This team is going to make you punt your ass off. The AAF is gonna make rules against punting because of this team. If the Utes’ influence continues to permeate this franchise, the entire team and fanbase will look like a front seven. Will the Stallions ever score? Yes, on blocked punts.

Other teams with multiple Stallions: Arkansas, Arkansas State, BYU, Colorado State, Idaho, Nebraska, Temple (Philadelphia is in Utah, this is canon), Utah State, Wyoming

The San Antonio Commanders are Big 12 expansion
Four Houston Cougars and four TCU Horned Frogs. The Commanders have either recently made it into the Big 12 or will forever be teased with membership.

Other teams with multiple Commanders: Baylor (in the Big 12, though no one knew why for a long time), Cincinnati (another longtime Big 12 applicant who’ll never join), Indiana (often loses 41-38, a Big 12 tradition), Montana (has won multiple playoff games this decade, so is not a Big 12 team), Oklahoma (the good Big 12 team), Penn State (the first team to ever screw up the math in a conference’s name — the 10-team Big 12 is just playing catch up to 1990’s 11-team Big Ten), Purdue (Drew Brees is from Austin), Texas (Big 12’s CEO), Texas A&M (HAS NEVER BEEN IN THE BIG 12, DON’T LOOK IT UP), Toledo (also prone to 41-38 games).

Based on all only these college corollaries, let’s POWER RANK the AAF
  1. Birmingham/Iron Bowl
  2. San Antonio/Big 12
  3. Orlando/Florida
  4. Memphis/LSU
  5. Salt Lake/Utah
  6. Atlanta/Georgia Tech
  7. San Diego/San Diego State
  8. Arizona/UCLA
You can also bet actual money on the Alabama team winning it all, which is only feasible because there isn’t a Clemson team.
