Nah he was the definition of a soldier 100%. Dude ALWAYS respected the chain of command and never made one move that he didnt have the green light on. That's why I say Slim was the most stand up dude on the show.

Exactly. Had that been anyone else (like say a Bodie or a Snoop), they would've went through with it. If you remember when Slim and Cutty was gonna do that hit on Marlo but them lame niggas fucked it up, Slim abandoned ship rather than just go through with it. Also, Slim never said no to Stringer when Stringer asked him to kill Davis, he spoke against it, but didn't decline until Avon told him he didn't have to do it. Even though he knew it was stupid, he would've still done it had the boss told him. Furthermore, when Omar hemmed him up in the hallway, he still wouldn't give up no boss and told Omar to do what he had to do. Definition of a soldier. The only move Slim made on his own was killing Cheese.

On a side note, Stringer was still planning on having Clay Davis killed and was gonna hire out of town killers to do so.

Thanks a lot man. Also do you know what Sen. Clayton Davis was on trial for? I know he was fucking w/ Stringer for a lil bit in Season 3 -- but I didn't really pay attention to what was goin on (too busy focusing on the murders lol).

:lol::lol::lol:

Marlo came up in the game like Avon except he didn't have fam like Avon, he came up the hardway. Remember in season 3 when they were trying to see who he was down with, they had like 7 bodies on that nigga with his trademark "2 to the chest, 1 to the mouth" shit.

Chris, on the other hand, I believe was military. I don't think he was THAT much older than Marlo, just more mature. If you look at the shit Chris did, he screams ex-military to me. Plus, outside of actual murder, he was a regular dude. He wasn't like Snoop or Marlo. He didn't care about his name. This shit was just business to him. My favorite scene in the Wire is when Chris is fucking with the radio and "Lean wit it, Rock wit it" comes on and he starts jigging a lil bit. He was very human.

some good shit in here.

just for trivial purposes, D'angelo Barksdale (Larry Gilliard Jr) is married to the Baltimore Sun Newspaper Reporter in season 5 Alma Gutierrez (Michelle Paress) in real life.

Sergei on the streets running muscle. Direct deals with "White" Mike along with other dealers, the Israeli nigga ran drugs too. You ain't never caught Greek or Vondas in the street but during season 2, their men were right there. By Season 5? Not anymore.

Season 2 the colombians was trying to fuck over Vondas... he let the shipment get caught up to dismantle their guerilla funding.

he re-upped the next week.

Was Commissioner Willian Rawls gay?
Remember this scene where Brother Mouzone & Lamar were searching for Omar at that gay bar? (Skip to the 3:00min mark. You'll see him at the 4:20 mark)

Yeah. That punk motherfucker was gay. I was surprised they just left that out there lik that. I was hoping that shit would come out and he would get fired. I hated his punk ass.

Nah. He didn't deal to the Colombians. He just knew their shipment was coming in because he was connected like that. They were selling the chemicals to the Colombians that they used to cut the drugs. And the Colombians tried to short them which pissed them off.

Ever since the wire, I haven't been able to watch any other shows. Anything else feels like a downgrade. People tell me to watch The Sopranos but I don't want to watch some fucking touchy feely kissing wops to be honest.

Any other suggesitions?

I never watched the Sopranos hardcore, but caught a couple episodes. Then I watched the Wire. So recently I decided to download all 6 seasons of the Sopranos to watch it. :smh: Shit was garbage. I gave up by Season 3 and was heavy FFWDing by Season 2.

If I were you, I would find Homicide: LOTS episodes to download.

The Cheese as Randy's father wasn't brought up until after the series was done and mentioned at a panel that Simon was speaking on.

I don't think they knew that Dozerman was undercover, they just saw a corny looking White boy who wanted to buy a bunch of weight and decided to rob that nigga. He dated a Black chick, so you know he was one of those therealjondoe-type wiggers who think they're down and it was obvious to real niggas that he was out of place.

You're on the right track. Remember, Bodie and Poot ran into Herc, Carver, and Dozerman at the movie theater w/ their girlfriends. The next day he was shot.

Technically, Dozerman came out of the theater after the corner boys had left, but yeah, it was obvious he was out of place.

I heard that was based on David Simon's book. I might have to check it out.

I always knew the Sopranos was garbage. I smell overhyped crap from a mile off.

What was that shit Lester was doing when he was trying to sell the pre-tapped phones to the errand boy?

The boy dialed something, and then Lester said some numbers, and he looked at a piece of paper, was he cheating?

Lester was trying to show the kid that he was an old-school hustler/scammer. His "scam" back in the day was stealing calling card numbers from people while standing next to them. In order to prove his skills, he "did" it with Bernard. He was looking away because if you stare at the phone while the person is dialing, it'll be suspicious. He wrote down the numbers that Bernard dialed on the phone. The numbers that Bernard dialed were random, he wasn't cheating.

Once Bernard believed the scam, he would be more likely to go for the "new" scam, which involved the pre-tapped phones.

Just to add to the last scene with Marlo, someone has already mentioned that Marlo was getting handed to him at that party everything that Stringer wanted. But he went back out into the streets and heard the corner kids talking about Omar, not him. Simply put, Marlo's name didn't ring out in the streets. Remember the scene with him in jail? The only time Marlo EVER raised his voice or got mad was when Omar was in the street calling him a bitch. His name was the only thing he really cared about.

nah, u interpreted it wrong. The reason why Omar's name was brought up was to show how a myth changes up as it floats thru the street.

Marlo was uncomfortable with his new life. he did not "fit" in. it was a different game. the real estate game and the drug game has different players and he simply wasnt a dominating player in that game. he went back to the streets for a "quick fix" and it intentionally leaves it ambiguous as to whether he went back to drugs.

the season about the shipping docks?

hmm... that was the worse season in my opinion.

they could have left all that shit out.
:dunno:

Man, that was the most cerebral season. You can always tell where a nigga's head is at if they hate on Season 2.

The Wire is not a cops and robbers show. It's not about drug dealers.

All the union stuff and the rivalry between Valcheck (spelling) and Ziggy's pops had a PROFOUND effect on the city of B-more. At the end of the day though (season 5), Valcheck actually becomes the commish and everything in the city is being run by it's white "saviors" again. Even the drugs. But you can't get an overall feel for the entire stroyline of the series without checking out season 2. Only part I hated about it was the fake thug wannabe Ziggy. Otherwise, it was straight.

every season was the best to me. they were able to focus on so many different aspects and dynamics of a city and keep us on the edge of our seats. i've watched them so much i know lines by heart and scenes to a t.

season 2 showed the world that black people werent the only crooks and that there were people of another color playing the game too. 4 showed how the kids were brought up and how they became the dealers. 5 showed how the media gets all caught up in things. i mean the wire showed stuff about the media that we actively complain about right now.

i dont really have fav characters but some scenes were a cut above the rest. i still see lil kev walking away from marlo with the muscle behind him and being pushed into the back of the truck and slim charles walking up and kev looking like damn im bout to die. and slim looking like damn you bout to die? and just keeping it moving.

Nah. There's no way Avon would've let Marlo get away even if it meant that he and the hit squad wouldn't have got to do it themselves. you gotta remember, Marlo was there with NO muscle after being secret serviced like the President for weeks. This was they first (and possibly last) fuck up like this. Avon answers that phone and Slim says they leaving and Avon know Marlo ain't got no muscle? Slim and them other niggas were MORE than capable of taking care of it and would, as it was only Chris and Marlo.

Yea, I rewatched it, you're right. It was just Marlo, Chris and the Rim shop owner. Slim and the other niccas in that car could've handled them.

Go back and watch it again... after I did that I realized that it was much better than the first go 'round.

Season 2 is always the most hated when you watch it the first time, cuz you get the impression that they're going to start focusing on some white folks...like they needed to do that for ratings or some shit. Bringing in new characters is always risky for an audience after they spent the entire first season getting used to one set of characters. With the Barksdales weakened (and getting less screen time) and McNulty on a boat, it wasn't clear what direction they were going in.

Yeah but it grows on you...Nicky, Ziggy, and the dock workers were well done

And like someone posted... it kind of shows how the streets is the end of the line, not the source of the crimes

and you see how drugs and everything get in DMV...it could be a good spin off too imo

In the conversation that the unit nailed Stringer on with Shamrock, Shamrock said "And them two hitters you asked on, they good with that." And then Stringer says "Not on the phone." What else would Stringer need two hitters for but to get at Clay Davis? Remember on the Wire no dialogue is wasted.

I didn't find out about it until this year (no HBO) and I got all the episodes on my 500GB hard drive and watche. The Wire is the most consistant TV show of all time. The Shield, The Sopranos and others seemed to have too many episodes, sometimes entire seasons where you ask youself, "Did they fire some writers? Was there a strike? Did some of the writers quit?" The Wire was good all the way through.

I got a question. What episode was that that Griggs sucked on that fine ass girl's nipple. I love to watch girls sucking titties, and I had never seen it on a show until then (I refuse to watch the L word, plus, I don't have HBO). I think it was season 3, but I don't know what episode. Yeah, yeah. I can't think of anything I missed right now and I got titties on the brain. Sue me.
