You ever watch a cartoon where 1 guy starts a fight with about 20 guys and the 20 guys all jump the 1 guy. You see smoke and a scuffle going on then the 1 guy who started the fight conveniently sneaks out while the 20 guys unknowing wind up fighting each other.
All these rappers assume they are trying to out do Kendrick but the tide has shifted and now they unknowingly are trying to out do each other. And when the smoke clears, Kendrick will still win because at the end of the day, he will be the most talked about.
i hate the way artist send shit back and forth.. why can't they meet up at a studio and blaze on a track together..Jay Electronica Speaks On ‘Control’ Verse
The rap game is still suffering the aftershocks of Big Sean’s latest song “Control,” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica.
About 24 hours after the track’s release, Sean’s freebie remains the top burning topic on and off the Net. Of course, you can blame Kendrick’s speaker-shattering verse for the widespread attention. Over the span of 32 bars, K. Dot wakes the rap game up from its slumber and ignites a firestorm of controversy in the process.
But while everyone fawns over the Compton native’s scene-stealing verse, one of the other brilliant pieces to “Control” is Jay Electronica who also bodies the track. Roc Nation’s beloved hermit earth, wind and fire’d his verse especially with lines like “I’m spittin’ this sh-t for closure/And God is my witness, so you could get it from Hova… That’s why I came with a rock, then signed my name on the Roc/Draw a line around some Earth, then put my name on the plot.”
“I like the song and the stir it’s causing,” Jay Elect exclusively tells REVOLT about the highly-publicized record. “It’s good for rap music.” The aftermath of “Control” found rappers like Joe Budden, Fabolous, Big Daddy Kane, Meek Mill, Wale, Pusha T all speaking their thoughts on Twitter, while rappers like Joell Ortiz, Fred the Godson, B.o.B, Los and most recently, Lupe Fiasco ran to the booth to fire back on the mic.
Originally, the seven-minute song, produced by No I.D., was slated to appear on Sean’s forthcoming Hall of Fame album, but due to sample-clearance issues he was forced to throw it online for free as a pre-release appetizer. Jay says that he was asked by Sean to hop on the record a few months ago and had no idea that K. Dot was also going to be part of the mix. “A month or two ago, Big Sean asked me to be on this record with him for his album. He had a demo hook on it at the time. I did my verse and sent it back,” the Roc Nation lyricist explained. “I found out a couple days before it was released that Kendrick had put a verse on it.”
Who knows what would’ve happened had Jay known that the good kid from the m.A.A.d city was going to be featured on the track. All in the all, the results of the trio’s recordings made for arguably the most exciting rap song of the year.
