Alvarado became so beloved around the city for those backcourt/inbound steals (seemingly coming out of nowhere doing it) that the joke going around town is that teams had put "punt protection" on the floor for inbounds. Which was true, Alvardo would position himself on the opposite corner of an inbound and go for a steal from behind and teams started noticing it and would have somebody stand close to him just so they could get an inbound off and advance the ball.
