I had to watch it again...that's how good the season finale was....

As far fetched and as hard to follow as some of the episodes are I got this one. He didn't save his mom because one he still had doubts and second he trust himself HE told his self not to.
Eddie fulfilled the prophecy that Dr. Wells planted by making him question his path in life. By killing himself he was the hero not Barry so he felt he took that from him.
Yeah,I think his future self saw what would happened,if his younger self saved their mom....
Standing ovation to a well done season 1 !!
Dr Wells is the most intriguing villain I've seen in a while. The dichotomy between his advocacy for Barry and his antagonism for him is phenomenal

they killed THIS version of Harrison Wells, Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne and Eddie Thawne.
when Thawne killed Wells and took his place, he said one of the reasons why was Wells research into building the thingamig was years away from becomin a reality

I thought about that too....but I think it was more about the self loathing that Wells created in his mind by telling him his future. He took the most heroic (in his mind) path that he could. He'll be the man that killed Reverse Flash and at the same time let Iris and Barry have their future (maybe).
Well he can run fast enough to travel back in time so it's not like he couldn't dodge the bullets.
I can see it this way. Cool.
As a Flash reader, I gotta say i'm bothered by the whole Mach 2 bullshit. That's irritating.

Eddie acing himself ensures that he will ALWAYS be seen as the Hero (in Iris' eyes)... And Barry will always be that 'replacement' guy / 2nd-best / the guy Iris just'settles for' because her '1st choice' is dead.

You just ensured that we will have a whole 'nother season of Iris wrestling with her emotions & being a general 'pain in the ass'.
That single bullet turns Eddie into.... 'the guy who doesn't need any superpowers to be willing to risk his LIFE to save Iris'... which turns Barry into a fuckboi/sucka on his OWN tv show.
He gonna be stuck (mentally) in her 'friendzone'... Forever. or she just gonna 'settle' for him, because she can't have Eddie.
The writers really played Barry out... By permanently making him Iris' rebound / sympathy sidepiece.
With that said.... I liked EVERYTHING ELSE about the Season Finale.
Damn good finish.

In comics nobody ever stays dead. The Reverse Flash is bound to return at some point in the series. Wouldn't be surprised is Eddie shows back up as the villain either from a alternate universe. Gonna miss Tom Cavanagh on the show. Wish they could have saved him some way with Barry time traveling. Didn't expect the season to end the way it did. Figured they might explore the paradox story a bit then revisit it during another season.

We got a brief glimpse of Matt Letscher before Reverse Flash fizzled out. Will he be a part of the show moving forward?
Yeah. We hope so. Greg [Berlanti] and I both worked with Matt on Eli Stone. We’re friends. We’re such huge fans. The idea of Eobard Thawne having essentially stolen Harrison Wells’ body was an idea that we came up with midstream. That wasn’t always part of the conception. What’s wonderful about it is now it allows us to have two tremendously talented actors both playing the same villain. When the Reverse Flash returns, the face that’s underneath the hood can be one of two faces now.
The thing is reverse flash is not really evil. It seems he's just overly obsessed with the flash. Then again, before this show I rea wasn't a flash fan.
in the comics Dr Zoom Eobard Thawn is a psychopath so he hates Barry and the whole Flash family and there is only warped rhyme or reason for it...
but there have MANY 'Reverse-Flashes' so in that since it depends.
Another way I thought it would go for the finale.... Dr Wells gets killed or almost killed and uses the body/soul switcher on Eddie and confess he lied to Eddie to make sure he was there for insurance.
I thought that was a possibility too.
Finale was dope, but I cant wrap my head around the space-time-continuum stuff, maybe yall can help me out....

Timeline 2 (current)
So if they continue with this same timeline everything makes sense, the Real Wells is dead, Thawn is dead/gone, Eddie is dead and the Flash is the Flash due to the events of this timeline (2)...irregardless of whether Thawne was ever born in that timeline(2) since he came from another timeline(1).
However, if Flash goes into the wormhole and travels to another timeline(3), then he runs the risk of not becoming the flash until later in time (his late 20's/early 30's) like timeline 1. If he saves the city and stays in timeline(2) then how can Wells be a regular?
Also, Barry went back 1 day and changed TONS in the timeline, but Thawne goes back years, and does all of the things in timeline(2) yet the paper still showed the future hadn't changed? What am I missing?
Timeline 1
- Wells and wife create particle accelerator (2020)
- Barry becomes the flash in his late 20's/early 30's
- Thawne becomes the Revers Flash and they fight and travel back in time and create Timeline 2
Timeline 2 (current)
- Thawne goes back in time
- Kills Wells and Assumes his Identity
- Creates the Particle Accelerator
- Creates the Flash
- Trains the Flash to be...The Flash
- Eddie kills himself, and thus kills Thawne in this same timeline

i hope we get at least 2 more good seasons before it jumps the shark...
u know how these series go...it`s hard to maintain that good writing for some reason...
smallville held out the longest....it jumped the shark about when...? season 5 maybe...? & they got 10 season`s out of it...
shit the arrow didnt even make it to season 3 before it started falling off...
i had to watch it twice...
