Regardless of the silly time travel plot holes the show keeps trapping itself into from time to time,

You can't deny its human drama. Even if some of us do "call it", you still care about all these characters and their fates. The drama aspect is well done.

BTW...

I met Carmine Infantino in San Diego during 2000. That dude was one of the nicest guys I ever met in comics. We spoke for nearly an hour. He invited me to another panel he happened to be on. But I sadly ended up going to another panel instead.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking to... which actually kind of sucks because this epsiode was an amazing send off of her character.

I would be turned off by replacing Iris with another love interest. The same way as if Mary Jane was replaced for Peter Parker. You gotta let these guys have their one true love. If they were gonna kill Iris it's way too soon into the series to pull the trigger on that.
