So I haven't really been enjoying the Neagan scenery chewing. I never got to the part in the comic with Negan so I assume this is sill loosely following the comic series. I'm definitely in the the just shoot him camp and deal with his followers. I just can't take much more of the show portrayal.
I do have one question though, when he sat down with Carl with the pad were they implying he was some kind of therapist or something. He had a bunch of notes. If so, I can go along with the idea of him being a professional mind fucker and just taking advantage of the apocalypse to manipulate people.
I did LOL on what he said after the fat chick in Alexandria slapped him. "I'm about 50% more into you now!!" That shit was funny (and still mind fucking too)

Because of things like Comic-Con that dude doesn't have to work another day in his life I don't think. He can do appearance fees like someone who was in Star Wars or Star Trek.
Agreed. He can pick and choose his roles now, and doesn't have to worry about grabbing garbage for quick paychecks.
I was talking with some friends about TWD recently and how people were liking the series. Even though it's run for a long time, at least they still do strong ratings and have a large following (and social media buzz/trending factor). Fans and reviewers/critics are still tuning in .... and unlike other shows that fizzle after 1 - 2 seasons, and then stay on the air for countless more years, they still have material to work with. I don't blame the actors for staying on board for so long, and also in turn having the good fortune of not getting written off. Where else are they going to get a guaranteed viewership like this on Sunday evenings, right?

no it shouldn't. Two totally different scenarios. Cops have a specific authority that they abuse. The authority is given to them, they are protected by laws. Who gave Negan his authority? Who does Negan answer to? Who protects him? Who judges him when he makes a bad decision? If we don't comply with the cops (meaning, more than one cop) we are killed or thrown in jail. Here you have only Negan. I can't believe yall are comparing this to what black people have gone thru in the past and still go thru.
You have a group a grown ass men, thug looking dudes, bowing to another dude just because he has a bat, meanwhile, i have a gun? What has he done to warrant this respect? Gave a few speeches, made some jokes? abused others? So if you were in this situation and some dude came along and said "hey, give me your girl, she's mine now". He has no weapons. No one likes him. You just gonna give in? Because he intimidates you? Or are you gonna come up with a plan to get rid of this dude? And guess what, by getting rid of him, it will ensure that the next dude that tries to replace him, he will think twice before making any decisions.

And before there were laws and government backed authority to protect oppressors... what gave them power and authority? Fear and psychological warfare. The scenarios are different but the psychology is the same. You oppress people through fear. Gang populations in any given city or town represent a less than 1% minority but some rule and paralyze entire neighborhoods and communities through sheer fear. Same concept. Countries are ruled by mad dictators hat have armies filled with smarter and stronger men literally bowing to them and following their every word and order... same concept.

What law says people have to listen to Negan? What government is backing Negan or protecting him?There is no treason if they don't. Negan was not voted to rule. His followers didnt take an oat. It's not the same concept. We are talking about one individual that just decided out the blue, that he was gonna rule.
Dictators create law.. As does Negan.. Its literally the same concept. Also gave you the gang and community analogy if you didnt get that one. Laws are mere articulated rules that have consequences when not adhered to... Negan has that. You are getting far too entangled and lost in the concept of "laws". Laws are based on the concept of fear (and to lesser extent, order).. the common denominator here is the same.
