Motherfuckers running this show don't care about logic anymore.

If they go ahead with that time jump as is being rumored, theyll probably show that Maggie has given birth..

Judith may also be aged up to be around the same age that Carl was when he was first seen on the show

Seeing as how she's supposedly preggers, I find that hard to believe.

She's been pregnant for about two seasons already. It's bad enough she doesn't even have a baby bump. Chick went from almost losing the baby and having contractions to running and fighting to wanting to stage a revolt...baby be damned :hmm:

:smh:

Where did they get these writers from?

:smh:

Where did they get these writers from?

The last 2 seasons have only covered a months worth of time in their life.

Glenn and Abraham are killed on day 598 after the start of the Wildfire Virus, the premiere of S8 is day 617 and the finale is 620.

I'm all for this as a soft re-boot if for no other reason than to get a fresh start, but if they go that route, I'm not sure how they credibly handle the conflict they teased out in the season finale with Maggie's group vs. Rick and Michonne.

:smh:

Where did they get these writers from?

I can't call it man. This shit here, if nothing else they used to be to write characters who came off like real people. Now they got these sumbitches going against all logic whenever the writers get themselves in a corner and can't tie up a plot.

And this right here is anothe issue. They're taking a season's worth of material and stretching it out over two. If this is how they were gonna handle the Negan storyline, they coulda wrapped this up in a season. Instead they stretched it out over 2 season and 32 episodes.

AMC need to pay Frank Darabont and bring him back to run the show..Big differenc with development of characters when he called the shots compared to other showrunners...His resume speaks for itself...AMC is cheap.
They didn't want to give Frank the budget he needed to really make this show a true classic..
He bounced after season 2...Actor who played Dale asked to be killed off when Frank left..

I don't think they will turn on Rick and Michonne. I think it's a ploy to get us excited about next season.

It's not about turning on Rick. It's about two philosophies on how to move forward. Do you make peace with your enemies and work together, or do you cast them out and build stronger walls to protect you?

Maggie could easily kill Negan just by poisoning his food. The guards would probably help or at least look the other way. Killing him now wouldn't answer that question though.

Weak season and weak finale. And the tease alliance makes little sense.

Daryl= hell bent on revenge but just let Dwight walk

Jesus= spends every episode preaching forgiveness and kindness and now wants to deceive and murder
How dare you judge Christ

Some of you guys need to rewatch the Jesus, Maggie, and Daryl scene.

Maggie:
I just wanted to say you were right.
About saving the Saviors from the satellite outpost.
Having them here.
I don't regret what I did.
But you were right.
And Rick was right about not killing all the Saviors.

Jesus:
He was right.

Maggie:
He was.
Not about Negan.

Jesus:
So what does that mean, Maggie?

Maggie:
We have a lot to do.
We have to build this place up, make it work better than before, make it thrive for the people who live here.
We need our strength, the ability to defend ourselves better.
We have to have that.

Jesus:
We will.

Maggie:
But Rick and Michonne Rick was wrong to do what he did.
Michonne, too.
So we're gonna bide our time, wait for our moment and then we're gonna show him.

Daryl:
Yeah...
We will.

He never said he agreed with her plan about Negan, only about the plan to build up the Hilltop and their defences. Plus it's not like he was going to say "I'm telling Rick" with Daryl creeping in from the dark corner behind him.

It's not just the budget, Frank wanted a big budget, but he also only wanted it to be 10 episodes a season, so they would have more money per episode. I have always wished they wouldn't have fired him. I love zombie stuff, and I still enjoy TWD, I just dont expect it to be on par with GoT, Breaking Bad, etc...

Plus, a serial drama, like GoT, Breaking Bad, and TWD shouldn't be anymore than 12 episodes per season anyways. They rarely work which is something that has been an issue in the modern era of TV for networks. Too many shows like Blind Spot, Designated Survivor, Blacklist start strong, but cannot deliver that level of quality for 24 episodes in one year. They start doing a lot of filler and get redundant and boring.

If it was me, and the network wanted to do more than 10 episodes a season I would have tried for 12. The comic has 6 comics per volume, they could have just done a comic per episode, which would have tightened up each half season.

There is one other issue as well, the Negan/All Out War storyline was never the best part of the comic. It's fun because Negan is ridiculous, but a lot of the comic viewership, even on this site (check TWD thread in the comic section), dipped during this part.

I do have a theory why. Kirkman has always been good at writing things far ahead, never getting behing (delays have always been a constant comic industry complaint) and this part of the comic was released in 2012. Which means he wrote it probably a year or so ahead of time... not long after joining up with AMC to help write the TV show. I think hollywood writers and sudden fame negatively affected his writing style. Granted it gets much better after Negan, but being around hollywood writers definitely influenced his writing style IMO.

You know the thing that bugged me about the finale of the walking dead, why did Ricks group walked the thru open valley like that going to war with the saviors? That strategy seems flawed because they are out in the open like sitting ducks.

Why is it Rick who gets to decide whether Neagan lives or not? They're in the hilltop where Maggie is in charge. Or is Rick in charge everywhere he goes? :hmm:

:roflmao::lol2:... Rick is the ultimate ALPHA MALE...How long did it take him to take over when he first met back up with Shane and his family’s group? I still wanna know how Maggie even got to be in charge:hmm:

Who do y'all think was the better leader Rick, The Governor or, Negan?

Rick is; Negan led by fear, murder, and humiliation, the only people living well under his rule were his inside circle, everybody else were basically slaves. The Governor was a good leader if you only cared about your own well being and didn’t care if others got hurt to make your life comfortable. When they found out what they had to do to continue living comfortably most of his followers were against it and he ended up killing some of them. RICK is all about doing what’s good for the group and letting them know why he feels it is good for the group.

Agreed.

Rick is the only leader in the whole universe that didn't offer his people shit except war and hunger and STILL had everyone following him.

Yeah because he most times explained to them why they were doing the things they would do,....the Governor sold his people this dream of a safe haven in the post zombie world but didn’t tell them how that life was being maintained and what would be expected of them when things got tough. Negan was nowhere near a good leader, he was a tyrant and proud of it

The governor could have provided a safe haven if he and Rick had traded with each other. Instead he saw a bunch of people living large with their 6x9 cells, pissy mattresses, shitty fences, infected pigs and got greedy. One of my favorite parts of the 3rd season was when Merle quotes a verse from the bible. Everyone looks at him shocked so he explains "Woodbury has a very good library". Why? Because they stocked a book that almost every household and hotel room has? I don't know whether to attribute this to 1) poor writing 2) Merle being a dumbass or 3) the governor bullshitting everyone to think his system was better than it was.

Negan was a tyrant, but he also allowed his people to live a relatively normal life. He created a system that ensured basic survival and allowed them to specialize in whatever they did before the outbreak. His biggest flaw was that he was a baseball coach and not a history teacher. The teacher would know that you approach weaker communities with missionaries, not thugs. You improve their health, agriculture, power system, and walker defenses, but do it in a way that keeps them completely dependent on you. At that point it's easy to recruit their most useful members and start a one sided trade agreement. You only send out the thugs if the community tries to break its dependency.

Rick almost never uses his people's knowledge or skills beyond killing and scavenging. He even sends his doctors and scientists to the front lines. At the same time, his group had military officers that never planned any battles. T-Dog was on the show for almost 2 seasons and we never even knew what he did for a living before the outbreak. Same with Tyreese, Morales, Heath, or even Jesus.

Walking Dead: David Morrissey Wants to Reprise Governor in Spinoff

Former The Walking Dead star David Morrissey would “love” to play the Governor again in some form. The Governor was an iconic villain from Robert Kirkman’s comic series, who became infamous for his cruel and vicious war against the survivors (he even cut off Rick’s hand). The character was introduced to the TV series in season 3, but while the show toned down some of the darker aspects of the character, the Governor is still considered the best villain the series has ever had.

This is largely down to Morrissey’s more nuanced turn in the role, with the character flashing hints of humanity throughout his conflict with Rick’s group. The character’s self-destructive impulses eventually led to the fall of his community Woodbury at the end of the season, but the character would reappear in The Walking Dead season 4 in a final assault on the prison the survivors were seeking shelter in. He was killed in the ensuing battle, first being stabbed by Michonne and then shot in the head by his former lover Lilly.

RELATED: DID THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 8 FINALE INTRODUCE A NEW VILLIAN?

Outside of a brief cameo appearance as part of a hallucination by a dying survivor in the fifth season, Morrissey hasn’t appeared on The Walking Dead since. The character is pretty irreversibly dead at this point, but in a recent webchat with Morrissey on The Guardian, the actor said he would still jump at a chance to revisit the role:

I would love to play the role again, however there are no plans to do it. Not to my knowledge anyway. He was a character that I felt had great depth and complexity. Not just a cardboard baddy. A lot of my inspiration for the role came from the books written by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga. I think these books are fantastic and I think it would be wonderful to do a mini series of them.

While the character was mostly presented as pure evil in the original Walking Dead comic, the Governor novel trilogy Morrissey references explored the backstory and origins of the man who made himself a monster to survive. The Governor is quite dead on the current timeline of the show, but a miniseries exploring his backstory could be an interesting way to revisit the character. However, like the actor says, there are currently no plans to do that.

That said, former The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple was recently promoted to chief content officer for the franchise and is looking to expand it in new directions. The series is still a huge property for AMC, but its ratings have been steadily declining in recent years, so if those behind the franchise want to keep the show alive than new spinoffs and ideas are needed to keep fans invested.

Given that the Governor is one of the most popular villains to ever appear on The Walking Dead than a spinoff prequel isn’t out of the question, it’s just a matter of what kind of stories AMC wants to explore. At the very least, it seems Morrissey would be more than open to a comeback.

I would be down for a Rise of the Governor spin off.

I would prefer a Clementine show though. Telltale game character... or for her to make her way into TWD. Prefer a clean spin off though.

Still hope Fear The Walking Dead is an origin story of a villain though...

ABC Picks Up Whiskey Cavalier, Starring Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan

Lauren Cohan's new TV pilot Whiskey Cavalier has been given a series order by ABC. The Walking Dead star will be doing double TV duty after also having renewed her AMC contract for the popular zombie drama's upcoming ninth season.

Whiskey Cavalier is written by Dave Heminsgon, who will also serve as the show's executive producer alongside Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold of Doozer Productions. Meanwhile, Peter Atencio will direct and also executive produce the pilot of the upcoming Warner Bros. Television project. Scott Foley, who has just wrapped up six seasons of Shonda Rhimes' Scandal opposite Kerry Washington, on the other hand, signed up for the project to join Cohan and will also be one of its producers.

Andrew-Lincoln-as-Rick-Grimes-and-Lauren-Cohan-as-Maggie-Greene-on-The-Walking-Dead.jpg

TVLine reports that Whiskey Cavalier - starring Cohan and Foley - had been picked up by ABC following a stream of cancellations by the broadcasting network. will be moving forward at ABC. The show also stars Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams, and Vir Das. Furthermore, a synopsis released alongside confirmation that the show is moving forward:

“Whiskey Cavalier follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”), played by Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.”

As previously mentioned, Cohan is expected to appear in both Whiskey Cavalier and The Walking Dead, and it'll be interesting to see how she balances both jobs, especially if her new show takes off. For a time, rumors were rife that she was leaving the AMC series to focus on her latest endeavor, which were only exacerbated following news of The Walking Dead's pay discrepancy between her and her male co-stars. AMC eventually caved in and the two parties reached an agreement that has the actress returning to reprise the role of Maggie for The Walking Dead season 9, although it's unclear if she signed for a multi-season deal.

Plot details are scant for The Walking Dead's forthcoming outing as the show just wrapped up its long-running Negan-arc. The final moments of season 8 seem to be setting-up a civil war storyline as Rick and Michonne ultimately decided to let Negan live but hold him as a prisoner. Maggie, who has been motivated to kill Negan after he brutally murdered Glenn in front of him, was understandably upset about the decision. If The Walking Dead goes down a civil war route, then Cohan will obviously be a huge part of the show going forward. Over the last couple of seasons, Maggie has emerged to become one of the strongest characters in the series. She's taken over the Hilltop community, and if it comes to it, she'll have her own legion of followers to go up against Rick's team.

That said, with The Walking Dead's declining viewership, it's unclear just how long it will stay on the air. Starring on Whiskey Cavalier, if it's well-received, will be a good way for Cohan to guarantee her future on TV if AMC decides to wrap-up their zombie-centric offering.
